This is technically not a beginner's class, some steps are quite advanced; I wouldn't expect a pure beginner to be able to execute them - it takes a lot of practice. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Hey Kathryn, I wanna thank you for your videos. They're incredibly helpful and inspiring! I've been dancing since I was 3 (for 13 years now) but I had to temporarily quit due to a stroke. Now I'm diagnosed with a disability called hemiparesis but I'm not giving up. I've been professionally dancing on pointe before and I have to restart from zero again but I'm gonna keep going and your content is helping me to do so. Thank you so much!

I very much appreciate your beautiful technique. You and I are very fortunate that we do not have much hyper-extension. As a very seasoned dancer (58 years) and dance teacher (42 years), I discovered a solution for dancers who have hyper-extended knees: always lift your lower abdominal muscles upward, reach your heels down into the ground, and lift upward on your thigh muscles when you "straighten" your knees and when you return your working leg to a standing position. You cannot hyper-extend. It is worth retraining your muscles to avoid injury.
