Okay... definitive clarification of what happens to Malignus: 800.4c If an effect that gives a player still in the game control of an object ends, there is no other effect giving control of that object to another player in the game, and the object entered the battlefield under the control of a player who has left the game, the object is exiled. This is not a state-based action. It happens as soon as the control-changing effect ends. Therefore, when Zealous Conscripts's effect ends, Braden (the default controller) is no longer in the game and there are no other effects granting control of Malignus to anyone, and thus it is exiled. You did the correct action.

Great video. A slight mistake on the Void spell though. You don't choose a number on cast, only during resolution, so no player may take actions when you do choose the number. That means Anton wouldn't be able to sac the sphere after the number was chosen.

Interesting Game. If you did not know: "Void" at 12:24 - Target is chosen on cast, number on resolve. - This means that sacrificing Commander's Sphere can only be done before knowing which number will be picked. If a player does, the player casting "Void" may still choose another number (but not target player). I think the clean way to play "Void" is to target a player and ask everybody if they want to do something before you announce the number.

Good game overall, shame Daretti was taken out so soon. As for missed triggers/plays: Turn 6: When Ramos is played, it should enter tapped due to Manglehorn being out still. While not declared audibly, it looks like he fixed it before Gio was much into his turn Turn 9: When Ramos is destroyed by Beast Within, Branden never puts a 3/3 Beast token on his side of the field. Turn 13: Branden would have just had to pay 1 of any type of mana to counter the activated ability of Crystal Shard, not 3 Blue. Updated based on info on darksteel interaction with Silumgar.

Actually, they did it correctly for the Silumgar/Greenwarden of Murasa. Silumgar's ability is not a static effect. It is a triggered ability with a conditional. Once the ability resolves, it doesn't matter what happens to Dragonlord Silumgar as long as you stay in control of him. I believe the Manglehorn and Etherium-Horn Sorcerer should have gotten bounced back by Whelming Wave. The first Cascade trigger would have put it on the stack first and the Sorcerer and Manglehorn were place there by the second and third Cascade triggers respectively which would resolved first.

When there are multiple cascade triggers going off the same spell, the spell from the cascade that resolves first goes to the stack on top of the other cascade triggers, and resolves before them. Then the next cascade on the line can resolve and bring up another spell. Therefore, this is what happens: 1. Maelstrom Wanderer is cast. Both cascade triggers go to the stack on top of it; 2. First cascade resolves. Whelming Wave goes to the stack on top of the second cascade and the Wanderer; 3. Whelming Wave resolves and bounces the creatures. Second cascade then resolves; 4. Etherium-Horn Sorcerer is cast, triggering its own cascade; 5. Manglehorn is cast. By the time the creatures start resolving and entering the battlefield, Whelming Wave has already done its job. If Whelming Wave had been cast from the Wanderer's second cascade, then yes, both creatures would've been bounced back.

Mistake when Anton used Crystal Shard on Lavinia. 3 or Blue is the activation cost. The amount your opponent must pay to avoid the bounce effect is just 1 generic mana.

That's correct: Silumgar's trigger has already resolved and its effect will remain as long as the player controls it, even if Silumgar loses its abilities.

Putting a permanent into play under your control does not create a control changing effect. It just is there under your control. So when the controller leaves the game it is exiled as there's no control changing effect to end. Here's the easy way to know whether to exile or pass it back to the another's control. Was the last zone this card was in before the leaving player's battlefield a remaining player's battlefield? If yes that player gets it. If no exile it. And then hand it to the owner.

I really like the Ramos deck. I play Nekusar sort of like it. I don't run ALL the wheels but they let my keep going. Especially with Waste not out. And i love taking an extra turn which is supposed to be your last. Btw, Maelstrom is such a special child. I really don't like the deck. I like the card in some aspects but the deck can just be soo... Maelstromy

Concerning the Malignus interaction - Rule 800.4b applies: "If an object would change to the control of a player who has left the game, it doesn’t." Thus Anton would have kept the Malignus (instead of giving it back to Braden when his Zealous Conscripts effect ended at end of turn), as it was not exiled as one of the permanents or spells that Braden controlled when he lost (Rule 800.4a).

Loved this! It was a great game that didn't have one person dominate. I must admit I was hoping Gio would win with the juicy Merfolk, but I'm glad Maelstrom didn't win at least. Also, totally approve of Braden being killed so early. Literally his own fault for playing such a powerful turn 1; it was a dumb move in my opinion. Far too greedy and he got what he deserved for jumping so far ahead.

I think the triggers were ordered so that it was 5 from the conflux plus 2 from the hardened scales and the winding constrictor, and then doubled by the corpsejack menace to 14.

He was supposed to win 5 counters, then they were increased to 6 and 7 then doubled to 14. The active player choose the order of replacement effects to happen. (5 + 1 + 1)*2

Poor Daretti never catches a break. I tried desperately to make this deck work with no limit on money, all the fancy mana rocks, and several combos pieces. Daretti is too vulnerable and fragile. Gonna move all those fancy stones to either mono blue or Esper.
