The idea of anything or nothing after death, or even debating it. It is odd. Nobody's idea is 100% the same. I got shivers.

I think it's because the concept of nothing, the literal absence of anything, is so incomprehensible and terrifying. But then there's also afterlives. Some of which seem to have no free will even when depicted as paradise. With reincarnation you live, die, forget your life and live again. That still kills the old you as if you never existed. What happens when the world eventually comes to an end? Is there no reincarnation? I struggle to keep faith in what I believe, but nothing else seems like a more correct or even comfortable option. I guess the only real choice we have is to keep living our beautiful, incredibly flawed lives. Do what we can to live life to the fullest because we don't know what comes after. (This comment is so tonally different from this stupid alt account, lol)

Mmm, mortality, my favorite subject. It's very interesting how we think of a black void when we think of nonexistence. That's not how it'll be, that's just what you're brain comes up with. Your brain can't comprehend nonexistence, so it's just an empty space of black. In reality, there is no image. There is the transparent background of a PNG and no more, but we just simply can't visualize the idea of nothingness. Love thinking about it sometimes. Almost comforting.

My interpretation of the afterlife is that it has to exist by the nature of existence itself (for example, the question of "If consciousness is just brain activity, then why am I this particular person out of all people? If "I" can experience life, then who is the say that the rest of reality doesn't? And if it does, then who's to say there's oblivion after death?") but that it is incomprehensible, and all that we can know about it is that it makes this "existence" of ours whole. I also believe that the only indisputable hint of God's will we have is that we were born with an innate love of existence. It would therefore be in God's will to make the most use of all that we consider real, and thankfully, even mere existence furthers this cause, especially as a sapient being. If you made it this far reading, you are part of this great wonder.
@ShoreBirdss2 жыл бұрын
Genuinely, I think it matters what you think happens after life. What you believe will happen will happen. I think I can take comfort on this thought. I always remind other who are scared of death to imagine their dream afterlife and to hold onto that idea for their entire life as what they believe will happen in the most magnificent way.
@w0rmsinger2 жыл бұрын
I’d like to think that when we die, well we have to go *somewhere* in this universe of ours. Matter is neither created nor destroyed, only changes forms, and I believe that applies to life and souls as well. After all, we are all made from the dust of stars from billions of years ago, whose to say we won’t become parts of stars again? Or part of a tree? Or a river? Or a new living thing? I don’t think we go from one to another, I think we go from one to **many**

I don't want to believe that when death comes we will cease to exist entirely. Even if I don't do one notable thing in my life and then cease to exist, I don't want that to be the reality for those whose lives have ended so abruptly; for the children who've been torn away, for the men and women who've been lost to us. For those whose lives were nothing but a struggle, of pain and hardship to become nothing in the end; it leaves me mourning their loss more because I can only hope they rest comfortably now. And for those, who's life ended even before their first breath. They were real and they won't be forgotten. 🕯 Death is a mystery to the living, a question that can only be answered when it's your time; and no matter how long or how short, when it's your time- it's your time. That last part is something my mom told me.

@@Tuxiiedos Simulacrum is the theory that we are variables in a massive computation, just parts of a large simulation, enacted either by advanced humans or some kind of higher race beyond our comprehension. I think a higher power makes sense, but I can't come to terms with a benevolent creator. If God is real, and all-knowing and all-powerful, then he's a huge jerk for letting his creation suffer and rot. Basically lol.

T.W death and past lives: It's really difficult for me to explain the prospect of past lives to people, I remember a good deal of four of them, most of all the deaths. Death is not something i personally find scary, its the fact theres a chance I'll remember it all after, like god didn't kill me well enough or something. It's waking up completely alone, in a different body, with everyone you loved dead or in a completely different dimension. It's not caring about the people in this life because all you can think about are the people from the last one. But I can confirm, when you die, you'll wake up as another thing, whatever the version of a baby is in the dimension/universe you end up in. Death is a bittersweet thing, she sits and holds your hand until you're ready to go, there's no evil death, just what we mop it up to be.

Honestly it's so weird to think about death.. scary because it's just so unpredictable. I have no idea what to think. And everyone's idea of it is different in some way or the other. That's the thing I don't completely get about religion. No matter what someone thinks, they have no idea to know for sure what awaits someone after death. I'm actually not atheist, and I also mean no disrespect to any religious people who have their idea of it from that, I think I'm just either secular/agnostic or apatheist haha. God may or may not exist, I hope he does. And there may be a heaven/hell, may be reborn, may simply be nothing at all. Who knows? None of us certainly.

Things of which that are outside of my will to change, or events outside of my control. Are concepts, or object that should cease to exist within the mind. As something as complicated, and overbearing such as 'the meaning of life' or 'if god exists' is not something you should ponder. The practice of stoicism aligns with this statement. “Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” ― Marcus Aurelius

I think what hes trying to describe is regardless if reincarnation is a thing where your theoretical soul forgets its former memories and is moved into a new body or if you cease to be and a new baby takes your spot in the world it's the same thing, hes trying to convey that life weather we cease to be or transfer will keep going. If that makes sense! Of course everything he talks about is hypothetical because we dont know for sure

yaknow, i always wanted the abyss before i started to love my girlfriend the way i do now. i wanted there to be nothing when i went, to just die and to become nothing, to just sleep. to no longer be conscious. for it all to just,,, end. and then i end. and there is nothing. i cease, my consciousness cease, it all ceases as everything shatters and dwindles and floats away into the abyss like flakes off a fire, and then fade - into someone else, into nothing, into just the universe itself. but i would never be conscious again. and then i started to love her, and i don’t think my idea is the fate for everyone, but i no longer want to… not be conscious, when i die. i don’t want to not be conscious, because no longer ever being conscious means i’d never be able to see her again, i wouldn’t think of her again, i wouldn’t feel her again. and so, i think, at the end of my days, i will wait. wait for her to come to me in the gardens of mother earth. i will live for her, and i will die, and i will wait for her. and when she goes, i will greet her. but at the same time, i don’t want to wait. i don’t want to see her suffer after my death. i don’t want her to suffer at all. but i don’t want her to die first, because i love her too much. my girlfriend doesn’t believe in heaven or hell or anything, but she’s the kindest most sweetest most selfless woman ever, and she is my woman, wherever the afterlife guides me, it doesn’t really matter as long as i walk hand in hand with her. she is the best heaven i could ever ask for. any afterlife without her is a hell.
