The most memorable experience I had with E-Skip was when I received KDLH-TV Channel 3 in Duluth MN in the late 1980s or early 1990s from the Five Towns area of Nassau County ( about 40 Miles West of Patchogue, near the Nassau-Queens (NYC) Border. I was in disbelief what I was seeing, as I wasn't aware that TV E-Skip was possible. The signal didn't last long but the memory exists today. Thanks for your uploads!

I remember that KMOS "ID". The "FCTV" actually stood for "First Class Television", a branding that KMOS used during their PBS Kids programming blocks from 1993-2000.

Splendid E-Skip catches you had there in the 2000s and very informative at the same time with graphics :) Thanks for sharing and the dedication of uploading the video 73!

This is some awesome stuff! I noticed one ID you missed ... the other 3 whose audio comes up under WLBT for a few moments at about the 8:18 mark is definitely WRBL (going by their mention of a "Columbus teenager" and their use of the Enforcer news music in 2000).

Nice work! I grew up across Long Island Sound in Connecticut and remember well e-skip on the low band of VHF channels. WPBT in Miami and KYTV in Springfield, Mo., I remember catching in the early 1970s in addition to the usual fog day catches from Philadelphia, Providence and New Bedford. We had a good, rooftop antenna with a rotator at the time. When you made these recordings in 2000, my parents lived in a different house in New Haven County and had cable and no rooftop antenna. I really missed that rooftop antenna! Thanks.

So many times from Seaford, Long Island I'd TV DX and the signal would be viewable for 15 minutes and right on cue when the show would end and would fade out completely before a readable ID card or a VO tag would come one. LOL. So frustrating. My best TV DX from LI was "Tampa-St. Petersburg". I forget now but it was channel 3 or 6. A PBS.

That would be WEDU on 3.

E-skip even nowadays can be frustrating due to how unstable it could be, but stuff like identifying a station (no matter how well the signal is being received) makes it all worthwhile. How I wish analog TV DXing was still around, barely ever did any myself while it was still a thing 😔

I remember WISC ch 3 Connecticut was a frequent and often clear catch here in North Florida before the digital transition.

during a part of the wpbt clip, I heard some clip from the price is right Which means it probably has interference with WCBS

I've been looking for more video evidence of WTVY during it's Counterpoint- Stephen Arnold Music era. And we have some video evidence of The Six O'Clock report open; it's a real shame that WNBC-TV's Audio kept interfering with WTVY's capture.

I LOVED to do Broadcast DXing of both Radio & TV when I was a kid DXing AM Radio was easy to do - At night. You could get the world in 20 minutes FM was only good for local DXing but got no further than Colorado Springs Ditto with TV DXing. All I could get was KKTV 11 (Sometimes) KRDO 13 in Colorado Springs (NO KOAA 5) All this was from Denver Although one time, I was watching a soap opera on KRDO 13 as it was being shown in Colorado Springs that my local (KUSA 9 at the time) did not clear While that was going on, I suddenly saw this other station come in. Eventually KRDO 13 faded for a brief moment & then just as suddenly I SAW PBS Member station KTNE 13 from Alliance, NE came in. It was airing a promo for some wildlife show they were going to air & then POOF !! Away it went & KRDO came back in I only wish is I could've had a way to record it at the time

FOX 43 Kids Club was the branding WTNZ-TV uses on their FOX Kids block from 1990 to 2002 when the FOX Kids block shut down and on their FoxBox/4Kids TV block from 2002-2008 when the branding is finally phrased out

The irony here is WEDU 3 & WPBT 2 would be stations you'd likely get pretty regularly from where you are now Which begs the question - Have you ever caught any of the NYC locals from where you are now??

Wow… Never seen a situation before where the video signal from one station and the audio signal from a second station were picked up on the same channel at the same time. And having gotten the video signal from one station but the chroma subsignal from a second station looks even trippier.
