The local television news gathering and production process changed very little from the point this was produced in 1985 to 2005 and even beyond. I laughed at some of this because it was so identifiable for anyone who has worked in/around local news for lengthy periods of time. The stressful aspects never went away, only expanded and compounded due to numerous factors. Salaries sank lower across all markets, automation, corporate mergers and consultants contributed to the very distilled, bland and unoriginal delivery still in place today. News has predominantly always gone for the negative stories because, similar to viral content on social media, dramatic stories and fast-motion visuals grab attention. This series was produced pre-internet in the golden age of tv/radio/print news when local stations and newspapers were the main source of information. There was far more competition, stories were better edited and there was actually time to allow focus towards quality stories due to fewer newscasts. Most of that is gone now, along with public trust. To echo another comment, Don Henley's "Dirty Money" song is spot on in many respects. Clever signature out at the end. Thanks for sharing!

These people just capitalize on people's miseries. If one of your family members get murders or something they will literally come and harass you with cameras
