I was to sell my 'cello this evening, but decided to have a quick final play before doing so. I sat and picked out the theme for 'Inspector Morse', having been reminded of it from watching the repeat series on TV recently. Thank goodness I did so! As poor a player as I am, it sounded wonderful, and it was enough to make me change my mind and keep it! Much gratitude to Barrington Pheloung and his inspired composition!! Helen Burrows

This is my favorite theme for the feelings of peace, hope, longing that are characteristics of one's journey journey through life. Thank you, Mr. Barrington Pheloung for an unforgettable piece that still haunts me and draws me back to listen once more . . .

I remember being 7 years old, back in the 80`s. With my fisher price tape recorder, trying to record this song. As a 7 year old kid, I watched and loved inspector morse (which is a little odd...) and it was this music that sparked my interest in music at that young age, because of how it made me feel. I still compose to this day. I am now 29.

RIP Colin Dexter. Thanks for giving us the "Morse" series (Endeavour, Inspector Morse and Lewis).
Beautiful melody, that touched my heart right from the first time I heard it. A masterpiece to go with a great serie.

One of the reasons I watch Masterpiece Mystery is because of this theme. I like many of the themes for the different mystery shows. "Thanks" for sharing!

One of the few characters in a TV series I aspire to and admire, yet I dont want to have his life.

Morse, the character, was a delightful blend of the gruff, the elegant and the fey. Place him in Oxford, add in this hauting theme, the likeable Lewis, Max, and an interesting storyline, and you end up with one of the most absorbing police series made. And, as England has made quite a few real beauties, that is saying something!

Such a lovely, melancholy song. I'd call it nostalgic, except I don't think I've experienced half the things it makes me feel.

I was hoping there would be more than one episode =( Lewis is really good although it took me a while to get into it. Hathaway is brilliant in it. Makes me wonder when they end Lewis will the torch be passed on again....
