Winston co-sponsored "THE FLINTSTONES" during its first two seasons; the first ad is from 1961. G.E.'s Hotpoint division, co-sponsor of "THE ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET" during its first four TV seasons (1952-'56), sometimes referred to it in their sponsor I.D.'s as "THE OZZIE AND HARRIET SHOW". That's Mary Tyler Moore as "Happy Hotpoint" in this 1955 opening (Verne Smith, announcer). 4:49- "Fiddler on the Roof" (1971) was seen on network television ONLY ONCE {September 15, 1974}.

Why was FIDDLER aired just once?
@fromthesidelines2 жыл бұрын
Because United Artists and ABC struck the same kind of agreement that MGM and NBC made for "Gone with the Wind" in November 1976: *ONE* network telecast only (although "GTTW" was eventually repeated through a separate deal).

Thank you for these wonderful clips, I was born on 1968, but lived with 60’s 70’s influences I especially love the family themes Parents and kids doing things together! My family was this way, yes we kids did things with others but dinner holidays watching TV etc was so cool with family. I feel sad for kids today who don’t know what “dinner time “ is, “bed time” “Chores” “study time”. How those things disappeared or were seen as oppressive I don’t know. It all worked then and worked for me as an adult.

There is a good reason as to why people still enjoy those classic comedies. They were funny, which is more than I can say for the comedy shows that they have on TV now.

@FredFlix7 жыл бұрын
Oh, Barry Gordy. Is he #1 in terms of music in the '60s? Could be. Phil Spector was up there, too. But Motown was about as big as it gets.
@thrashpondopons27767 жыл бұрын
So Sorry! I should have put a little more exposition there! In your 'To Tell The Truth' segment, the celebrity whom the panel was trying to identify was Motown founding father Barry Gordy & I was guessing it was the first candidate at 16.40. (& of course... one could make an excellent case that Motown is #1!)

Would like to know if anyone can tell me a place or site where one can buy DVDs of movies & tv series in their entirety from the 1960s - 1990's era? Can not find available for purchase many of the TV shows and movies that I grew up with, and if by chance I do find one or two series that I have the interest in purchasing, it is usually season by season, which is price gauging. I would like to ultimately buy boxed sets of my favorite movies & tv shows from the 1960's - 1990s era, but it just does not seem possible... And I have also noticed that more & more of the older tv shows & videos are being "blocked" from being distributed, sold, heard, purchased, viewed, etc. in what one can only assume is intellectual property rights or wanting to get re-run remuneration from a time/era when such a thing did not exist. Why can't the actors & musicians from the past let us enjoy the past, because they sure knew that until the years of the TV show MASH's running, that NO-ONE was given syndication/re-run compensation rights! Intellectual property, my ass - It is just pure greed of wanting money from something which they were never given the rights to own to, even if it was the person(s) whom starred in the show that made the show what is was. A contract is a contract people; I am more than willing to give you actors & singers verbal credit & acknowledgement for what you have done in the past, for your talent & hard work, but you do not deserve monetary credit for a past show, series, movie, song, etc. that you partook/starred/were featured in years ago when you were not contracted/authorized to receive such considerations/remunerations for in the first place! Get over it and let us enjoy your fine work & talent now, instead of only seeing the bitterness & greed.
