"The day today" January 94. Sheer comedic genius that stands up to this day. Only lasted 6 episodes but every one was gold. "Its bigger than that Chris, it's large!"

3:29 that Casualty episode looked like a movie trailer in which the Continuity thingy announcer said. It went out to 50 minutes.

Out of all the stuff you showed the only one I would have watch would have been the Film Running Man the rest I could happily live without.

Was that the Germaine Greer show that had a pissed up Tracy Emin with her broken finger on it. That was funny. Brookside. Great TV. The last scene was a gutter. Great vid. Brought a lot of memories back. Thanks for all the effort. Cheers.

I remember Noel's Gotcha being a grim affair, in retrospect. Pranksters, like Noel and Beadle, seldom have a sense of humour about themselves. If they "prank" you, you are supposed to laugh, take it in good spirits and move on. Should there be any reciprocation, a power play of one-upmanship will begin, and you won't be the one who ends it.

Absolutely, there's a strain of sadism running through 'practical jokes'. The only thing saving Beadle and Edmonds from a good slapping was the relief felt by the victims as they realised their car/ relative/ testicles hadn't really been mangled in the crusher. Cruelly duff stuff

I was lucky that I grew up in Milton Keynes where we had Sky (then Sky 1) donkey's before the rest of the country so I was able to watch all the new sci-fi shows, mainly Star Trek, so I didn't have to slum it with all the terrestrial channels! 😜 Seriously though, outside of sci-fi I have very little interest in TV, even now, so even without Sky there's not much here I would have watched. I may have caught the odd Rory Bremner, but the rest, no. I do actually have quite a few Lawrence Olivier films on DVD now though, as I do quite like a bit of Shakespeare, but I'd never have admitted that in 1994!

I remember the theatre thingy with Frank Skinner it was supposed to be like a comedy centred around a theatre but with acts thrown in, kind of like a really poor attempt at a Garry Shandling show. Also at this point Noel's House Party et al were reaching the end of the road, it was so 1980s.

I love Herman's Head! I discovered it quite by chance when channel hopping while trying to stay awake for a game in the 1994 world cup. There were eight days at the start of that when there was a game that kicked off at 12.30am our time. Channel four had it on very late on saturday nights, and I watched every episode from then on. It's never been on physical media, but all episodes are on you tube. I've never watched an episode of Casualty ever. I did go through a phase of turning on in the middle of them for all the 'am using a chainsaw in his back garden on the morning of his adopted daughter's wedding' moments. Because I happened to see one or two and they were so badly done and unconvincing they were funny the wrong reasons. Never watched Have I got news for you either. I think I saw a trailer or two for it and thought those involved looked a bit too smug for my liking. What I was watching on saturday's at the time was channel four's gazetta football italia. Show about the week in Italian football that was on saturday mornings. Presented by the wonderfully funny James Richardson, it was always great fun. I think Baywatch season five would have been on saturdays around this time. Not something I watched back in the day though. Back in the 70's my whole family would sit together and watch tv because that was what you did. But by this time I was becoming more selective and only watching what interested me.

I’ll never forgive Channel 4 for selling out so hard as soon as it got Friends and Big Brother. From niche, interesting and horizon expanding fare (not always good. Some of it was utter Dreck), to non-stop imports and Making Stupid People Famous. Not to mention their 2000’s obsession with un-funny “comedians” and putting them on everything they possibly could. You know the ones I’m referring to.

I did like Friends, although I gave up on it at the start of the ninth season. But the constant repeats of it really got on my nerves. Didn't mind imports but about five years ago they seemed to lose interest in that as well. Never got more than the first season of Star Trek Discovery and they've never shown the third and fourth seasons of the Charmed reboot as well. And now it's endless repeats of the Big Bang Theory. Another show I liked, but you can have too much of a good thing.

It wasn't "The Fast Forward Show", it was just Fast Forward, which was succeeded by Full Frontal. And there wasn't any stand-up, only sketches.

Brenda Fricker! The Guv'nor! I loved Packing 'Em In, Henry Normal always looked a little out of place in it but then he formed Baby Cow with Steve Coogan so he did alright.
