Hey Dave, Nice Tray, but I would mention that if you mark the dowel with a pencil before you glue and insert it, you can make sure your insertion depth is correct...not being picky, just makes it easier to tell if it's pushed in far enough.

Hey Dave, great video. Wondering what the official name of the fastener used for the pivot points at the beginning of Part 2 of the build?
@DaveMedicus7 ай бұрын
This is not the exact one but if you type in furniture bolt on Home Depots website they will come up. www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-4-in-x-12-mm-Antique-Brass-Connecting-Cap-Nut-817918/204281643

Thank you sharing this video. How do I measure for the where to attach the rod at the top of the inside legs? And how far down the rod goes from the top of the leg?
@DaveMedicus3 жыл бұрын
If I am remembering right I made sure that my bar was not any lower than what material I was using for the slide. Example if I had 1 1/2” that would be my max lowest point so I put the bottom of the rod about 1/4” higher so that it has room to slide. Depending on the size of rod you use will determine where the center mark is.
@katenelson9163 жыл бұрын
@@DaveMedicus My legs and sides are 1x3” The back support is a 1x2” The rod is 7/8”
@DaveMedicus3 жыл бұрын
@@katenelson916 if I am understanding you correctly the center hole should be around 1” to 1 1/16”
@DaveMedicus3 жыл бұрын
I believe I left a little more that 1/4” to the top of the rail.

These are great videos Dave. Looking forward to part 3. But can't wait for it because I need to make some of these now. Could you let me know at what angle you cut the bottoms of the legs? I'm terrible with angles. Thanks.
@DaveMedicus9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. For the angle I used a spare piece of leg material to mark the angle. What I did was set the tray up on a flat surface and laid the spare piece flat on the ground and marked a straight line on the leg. This was my cut off angle. There is not an exact angle to account for off measurements and cuts. Laying out your cut line will ensure that all of the legs will be flat.

Thanks for the follow up here. Like Hollis, I was trying to figure out the same thing, and was disappointed when you didn't get to that part. The way you describe here was the same way I was going to try to do it. I find it to be way more accurate when you can use relative dimensions/angles vs trying to calculate the actual angle.
@DaveMedicus8 жыл бұрын
+ed7007 Thanks. I have that part of the next video filmed but it's been to cold to do the finishing. If you use a scrap piece of the leg it will work out perfectly for the angle. I really need to go buy a heater for my garage. I am currently renting and the garage is completely uninsulated and gets extremely cold.
@DaveMedicus8 жыл бұрын
Also another delay is that my vehicle got vandalized the other day by some kids. So now I have to make sure that I pull my vehicle in the garage every night which is a pain.

You used some metal pieces that look a bit like T-nuts to form the pivots for the legs. What are they called? Thanks
@DaveMedicus2 жыл бұрын
They are called something like furniture nuts. I got them at Home Depot. They used to be a stock item but now I think its only online.
Looking for Build Part 3. Is it up yet? And a material/cut list if possible. Thanks in advance

+Toni Silverthorn I should hopefully have part 3 up within the next week. All the measurements and cuts and in the videos but I will try to put up a follow up video with that information for you. I want to upscale this design so that I can use it as a working/ studying desk. I want to double the measurements, a 2:1 ratio. Any tips?
@DaveMedicus5 жыл бұрын
Samantha Estudillo for the cross supports don’t use a rod. Use something else like a 1 x 2 for strength.

How exactly do I get the mounting for the legs in to make sure the cross and fold correctly?
@DaveMedicus5 жыл бұрын
I show you later in the video but basically drill them at the exact same time.I went with a center measurement from the top mounting point.

Hi what are the bolts called that you have the legs pivoting on? Lowes has no idea what I'm talking about.

I’m not sure if this is the exact one but this should get you in the general area of the store. The top is a cut piece of 3/4" oak plywood with a pre cut trim piece from home depot. I just glued and nailed it into place. This is a similar piece to what I used. I put the big end up. www.homedepot.com/p/5-8-in-x-3-4-in-x-84-in-Oak-Panel-Shelf-Moulding-5544/203396602
