有一年選美,司儀鄭丹瑞錯誤翻譯問題, 中文問題問：如果你送一頂綠帽給他人（如果你勾引他人的太太）,鄭丹瑞當時翻譯為If you give someone a green hat. 因參賽者是外籍人士,如此翻譯法並不符合原意,參加者誤解而對他不公平.應該譯作（If you cuckold someone).

elle wong it is OK to say I don’t speak English very well because I don’t receive good education. But it is very pretentious to say something like ‘my Chinese isn’t very good’ while she doesn’t even speak good English, nor grew up in an English-speaking country, especially when she grew up in HongKong.

I just looked at her wiki, she was born and raized in burma still she was 9, no wonder her English had some south east Asian accent

elle wong she was born to a Chinese family who speak Chinese, roots in taishan Guangdong, I’m sure her parents speak Chinese, and grew up in hongkong, accents or no accents how could you say my Chinese/Cantonese is worse than English let alone she didn’t even grow up in an English-speaking country? People in Burma don’t speak English. It’s like a white girl born to English-speaking parents, grew up in UK, went to school n learned Chinese as her second language, then go on complete Miss UK, then say “can I answer your question in Chinese? My English isn’t very good” or “my English is worse than my Chinese”. Does it make sense? No it doesn’t, people in UK would think that white girl makes no sense.

I don’t think that her English is bad at all. She was just not eloquent. Mind you that she was only 18 at that time and back in those days, I don’t think that there weren’t that much preparation and rehearsals, so she seemed nervous, that’s all.
