Do you use VLC to play your 4k videos? I have a S905X3 box and it feels like Kodi and KMPlayer just natively go to 1080p instead of the 2160p on the file. I'm looking for a video player that will play them in 4k. The video setting is on 2160p. I have a X96 box.

Yes I use VLC player for all my videos, with hardware acceleration set to Full in the settings area, and Audio set to passthrough for Dolby Atmos etc.

Cons: only 32 bits OS with this lose a Lot compatibility with actual software and emulators like emuelec, overheating and hurry need fan(5v), when conect a hdd, the system not have power and the screen turn off. Not have updates. Have less USB port and ever need hub.

TV Box Stop, I understand your point about black bars, but my point is that if I can remove those bars in my android phone, also in my other android tv boxes using kodi, vlc, xplayer, why this is not possible in the MagicSee N5 plus android box??, Im starting to suspect there is a hidden disable feature in the android 9 operating system in these boxes. Lets say you are playing a video using VLC, you just need to tap the "aspect ratio" option while watching it and VLC is going to switch between different kind of views !!!

OK I understand, but don't have an answer to that one. Maybe as you said the firmware doesn't allow it as it is not the full version used on mobile phones.

Know I did not stop. If you did not mentioned it I would not have noticed I made a silly mistake during editing and for got to put that clip in. I was under real pressure to complete that video before black Friday. My apologies. I will see if KZbin allows you to add in clips maybe.

Yes better than the Mi Box S but not in one area and that is Netflix and Amazon Prime video in HD/4K. In terms of hardware the N5 Plus blows the Mi box away.

@@impulsedguy6557 No it is not Google Certified and it does not have Chromecast. You will need some active cooling If you intend to game on it, but other than that, the temps are fine for normal streaming and 4K videos.

In drm info the hdr is not supported for me. When I start an HDR movie there is black screen and audio. I can't install the youtube vance even root permission neither. The hdd is extremely hot inside. The youtube is useless with remote control. This product is big dissapointing for me.

@@tvboxstop Yes it has. Yesterday the TV set itself up. It was tv fault. Now it works well, play everything, but I'm not so satisfied with piccture quality. My TV play the movies nicer but it can't be able to play the DTS. Thats the reason why ÍI bought this goods. The remote control is useless... And the youtube Vanced is a big losss. I Asked two things: youtube and movies, no more. :(

But there is a good capability this stuff: it can download torrents in the background. when you switches the product off the HDD works. But I'm useing the HDD with usb cable, because in the rack it will goes to extremely hot.

The problem with the high spec boxes you review is that they all don't have widevine L1 so we CANNOT watch Netflix, Prime, HBO in 4K UHD.

Says more about you than the boxes. I have no problems watching their output in 4k, 1080p, whatever I like, whenever I like. If you choose to tie yourself to one particular app don't blame the hardware.

OK if you want HD/4K premium paid streaming buy the Nvidia Shield. These are for cord cutters, Kodi users, APK streaming, all these options are free and in HD/4K, and unrestricted.

Is there a way to remove black bars on top and below when watching movies?, I installed 3 video players apps, kodi, xplayer, and vlc, impossible to modify aspect ratio options, or to make zoom in all 3 apps, same situation with apps already installed in the box....video player and mx player. These settings work just to reduce the image, but I need the opposite, to increase the size to reduce black bars.

Those black bars are there because how the video was recorded, it cannot be removed unless the app that's playing has zoom feature and that is also going to cause parts of the picture to be off the screen. 480p and 720p fills the screen. 1080p and 4K can give you black bars. If you have a TV that carries the same resolution as the video it also will remove the bars. Eg. 3840 x 2160p resolution

Yew you can write on external hard drive via the USB 2.0/3.0 ports. You can also format to shared internal storage via the USB ports.

You have ti use an air mouse to navigate Netflix. The stock remote doesn't work well in the APK version of Netflix.

@@tvboxstop I think I got it figured out close to what I am looking for in the interface, I do have another question. I also bout a G30 mouse and it works great with the box with just plug and play without syncing remotes. but every time i turn off the box and turn it back on the mouse looses the curser function and. the only way to get the remote to work properly is to pull a battery and reinstall it, and instantly the mouse curser pops back on the screen and works great again. do you have any idea how to avoid pulling the battery every time i tun the box on?

Did you use a fan or changed governor during your test? I have seen other reviews on this box and it overheats big time...CPU thermal throttling like crazy. One of the worst performance S905X3 boxes(because of thermal throttle primarily, DDR3 also isn't helping)till now.

I always set my box to performance, but my room is pretty cold I guess. I didn't get any problems

@@tvboxstop Thanks for the answer but the thermal throttling that I've seen in other reviews goes beyond _room temperature_ It would actually explain the lower benchmark scores. The CPU Throttling test app(from the Play store) would be a nice add for future reviews. Cheers.
