I was expecting this, cutting dollars interest rates makes it cheaper, while the Naira will be protected by adding 50 basis points. This will being portfolio investors who want better returns for their money. Taking money out of dollar bonds into Nigeria's Eurobonds.

I am starting not to understand the logic behind a FIFTY basis points-rate hike. Do these guys want the economy to grind to a total halt?

U are not an economist so u have no clue about the subject matter.

@@okeoja4447 Oga, Nigeria's inflation is not only driven by excess liquidity in circulation. That is why the consistent tightening cycle the CBN has embarked on since 2022 has not yielded any results. Go check the US, UK, Hungary, Canada, New Zealand and other countries whose central banks have resumed easing...their labour markets were starting to feel the squeeze from prolonged tightening as evidenced by poor jobs numbers, declining manufacturing and services PMI indices, and various other indices that measure business conditions around manufacturing, services and employment. Now let me ask you: what is the relationship between interest rates, economic growth/recession, employment, consumer spending, and GDP? You wey be economist, educate us. You just come online and talk any rubbish as if you were the one who paid our school fees and know the courses we studied at undergraduate and postgraduate level. BTW, I have worked in a global investment bank. We use economics and macroeconomic data all the time in our DAILY work.
