I love how in the end, both Damon and Elena did not stay together when they died - especially more for Damon because like, yes, he loved Elena more than anything in the world, he got to live a happy life with her, he got the girl forever but in the end, when it was all over, he went to his brother. The only thing he cared about and loved more than her, was his brother and even though Elena came between them at one point and they hated each other in the past because of Katherine, it was always about them from beginning to end - not Stelena, not Delena, not Steferine, not Datherine, Defan was the real deal.

They didn't actually stayed apart in the afterlife. They could see everyone they had lost so Elena saw her family first and Damon saw Stefan cause they were the people they loved the most and hadn't seen for the longest time. But just as Lexy went to meet Stefan as soon as he died, Elena and Damon can still be together.

Even so Stefan died, it was a satisfying ending. Even so Elena fell in love with Damon (I am happy for Delena ending), Stefan was still special to her and she still loved him. The scene with her reuniting with her family was beautiful, especially with Jenna. Jennas death always shocked me.

I can't tell you what it is but it's like a mix of closure, intense sadness, emptiness, and joy all at the same time. All because these damaged characters who both started out as innocent boys finally found what they initially deserved after life; peace. There's something about the music too, it's like saying "Yay! A reunion!" But also "It's been a hell of a ride, TVD. Thanks for sticking around. Goodbye." It sends chills through me and brings tears to my eyes every time. I definitely cried when Damon and Stefan hugged! And you know it was so full of love and relief and joy and they're both finally at peace together. I'm so glad they chose to end it on this beautiful shot of the two brothers. Because really it's always been about Stefan and Damon. If I'm being only a TINY bit picky...I would have liked to it to have shown Damon walking up uncertainly to the door of his home worried as to whether he'll be reunited with his brother, he knocks and waits nervously and THEN the door opens and we see Stefan and Damon is finally at peace because he found his way back to his brother after all. I understand why they did it this way because it is a great throw back to season 1 and the first time we see their characters and how different their greeting is this time even though the words are the same. I would have liked it if maybe they reversed it a little and instead Damon says: Stefan and Stefan says "Hello brother". But I still cried all the same at this ending.

I think this was perfect. The core of the show is the brothers imo. Yes, Damon loved Elena with all his heart, and I’m glad they got their long, happy life together. But Stephen will always be his little brother. It makes perfect sense he’d see him first, and that would represent peace. I don’t think this means he’ll never see Elena again, since Stephen initially saw Lexi when he died. I think (within the show) you go towards the person you miss most, and that was always Stephen 😊

So, while the common theme in the comment section on this video seems to surround the Salvatores and their reunion, I fell in love with this scene for Elena's reunion with her family. We saw the grief she carried over her parents' death, the way John and Jenna were so easily willing to sacrifice their own lives to save hers and how the deaths of those people defined who she became. Seeing her running onto that porch and the way all of her loved ones crowded around to embrace her made me so happy. It felt like justice for her character because so many people I know that watched the show would call her a Mary-Sue and that her character was kinda just there, not really having all that much of a reason to be outside of the main plot point of her being the doppelganger. This was her reason, this was what drove her character. She was all about family but she kept losing everyone. This was the perfect peace for her. Not an eternity with Damon, just peace with her family.

@@souleater6292 No so basically how it works is that they are all in the same place at the end but basically just think of it as Damon and Elena lived their life together and will continue to be together for eternity but when they got to heaven they wanted to see their family first. So basically Damon and ELena were just saying goodbye for that moment because they wanted to see their family but they are all in the same place together.

I feel like this ending is unfair. Only Elena got the happily ever after. Stefan's dead and so is Enzo. The only thing they did justice by Stefan is by making the house into a school or something in Stefan wishes. " After med school, I came home to mystic falls, it felt right, its where i wanted to grow old and I did, and that's life weird messy complicated sad wonderful amazing and above all epic and I owe it all to Stefan, when I met him I lost my parents and i was dead inside, but he brought me back to life and I'm going to live it as best I can ...for as long as I can" This quote does it justice. Stefan to me was the most important character in the show for me. He was basically the main character in season 1 trying to introduce Elena into a world of vampires. He even narrates himself. " For over a century, I`ve lived in secret. Hiding in the shadows, alone in the world. Until now. I`m a vampire and this is my story." Stefan is the true MVP of The Vampire Diaries. He was the only vampire that actually writes in a diary. Elena also wrote in a diary but she was human. Well at least everyone is happy though and everyone loves each other. that's what matters. not this yay Stefan's dead, Delena forever bullshit lmfao. Im sure there are some that think that way. At least Stefan went out like a boss. with hell fire and holding Katherine someone he used to be in love with. Too bad the writers couldn't do Katherine's character justice.

Well it would be kinda of disrespectful i mean. Come on , Klaus is already sending love letters to Caroline. Even though Caroline was with Stefan. not too long ago. and Damon and Elena got to be together and grow old together while Caroline and Bonnie has to move on because their lovers died., they just didn't shove it in our faces because Stefan pretty much died for them. That's why they didn't get a complete happy ending since Elena says that Damon was still worried he won't ever see his brother again. And we only saw a few scenes of them that wasn't even that great, lol. Felt rushed and not genuine enough. I think the best scenes were Stelena and Defan and a little of Steroline. They had the most intimate and heartbreaking scenes. Damon and Elena being together and happy is something we already seen before. It's a bittersweet end for Delena.

And even if Stefan didn't get the girl. the whole point of the episode was about him trying to redeem himself and save Elena and Damon. And he did. and he already got married to Caroline. and he was happy with Caroline. Stefan even whispered to Elena about how Stefan heard Caroline's voicemail message. And it should be Stefan centric. He died to save Damon and Elena. A person who was selfless and always trying to redeem himself or trying to repent or punish himself because of his past. Stefan wanted Damon to have his happy ending because he felt like he deserved it. the show also started with Stefan narrating himself.

No, Stefan did get a happy ending because remember the scene where he says he's "ready". He wanted this- He wouldn't have a happily ever after with Caroline because his guilt would eat him up- He's too much of a good person. So it makes sense really, his sacrifice would enable him to find peace in the after life and that's why I think the ending is perfect.

Stefan actually sacrifised himself to save the town to ensure Damon a haply life with Elena , he wanted to make up for all the bad acts he has done and if you just see what Stefan says that "I am a vampire and this is my story" you definately expect him to die after his story ends and it ended there by saving everyone😘 Also Enzo said Bonnie to live her life fo the fullest and so she did ,but after she had died she found piece along with Enzo and lasy but not least Caroline will probably be with Klaus as Alarick says that Thats another story but i believe Steroline is endgame too😉
