Great video, but that would drive me crazy working with the strings still on. You could even capo them at the first fret then depress the bigsby and pop them off, if you really wanted to save them.
@LeviBulger3 жыл бұрын
It's because you'll have to readjust everything on and around the bridge/trem by taking them all off at once. It's the nature of the floating bridge on these guitars and with the Bigsby. It's a massive pain in the ass and most people learn the hard way the first time changing strings on these. When I worked in a repair shop, I would get at least 1-2 each month of the Gretsch-omatics with this system where a person removed all strings at once and couldn't get the guitar to play right again. You can get lucky and have the pins set up at the factory which keeps it all intact, but the China made ones are never the case

Did this to my sunburst 2420 Looks scary because you’re drilling into the guitar bit truth be told it’s extremely easy Like up the pickups to the strings (Left to right is extremely important) Up and down not so much Ballpark

I reccomend you buy a kit guitar first, not only will you learn some skills before tacking any of your guitars but it will help you pass that fear of messing with a guitar. I used to feel like a guitar was a sacred magic thing only wizards could work on but once you make your own you realise its just wood and electronics. Although i still wouldent mess with anything vintage/all original

Worried about scratching the guitar top but yet mucking about replacing pickups with the strings on. Lose the crescent wrench, too, if you don't want random scratches on the guitar. Gee, I feel like a choir member lecturing a priest. You do make some mighty fine pickups though. Cheers Tom.

Great two videos! Here's the funny part...I did this mod to my Gretsch 5120 and man does it sound great. I ended up putting my Gretschbuckers in my Ibanez Artcore in my pic and man do they sound great in that! Like better than in the Electromatic! I was wondering if you might have an explanation as to why? Everything electronically is stock. I did replace the tail piece and bridge with an Ibanez Vintage Vibrato and Ibanez roller bridge. Its just the Gretschbuckers soind really good in this AK 86.
@wyssmaster11 жыл бұрын
Typically, raising the pickups will increase their output, while lowering them will (naturally) lower their output. Pickups that are too close to the strings can pull them magnetically, though, which will mess with intonation and sustain.

Great job man !!! Just a small point: you should have use tape for the bridge fillertron pup to be sure of the center position ; I allways use masking tape for those upgrades and it helps a lot; you can draw the correct line + it keeps your pup in place; when screwing is done, you just take if off ! ;-) All the Best and thanks again for sharing those great videos !!!

It's Dove soap, natural PH and kind to your skin so won't cause your wood to itch.
