It’s called ratings and cashing in on a characters (and real life person’s) death. Those of us that grew up with the show and subsequent drama behind the scenes and how dustin was treated by some of his cast mates, this was anything but whatever “healing energy” is. I’m glad he was acknowledged at all for sure but Lark is the only one that doesn’t make me mad watching this.

Not that this is an excuse, but Dustin was younger than his cast mates, so I'm guessing it was hard to relate to him. He was an integral part of the show, though, and wouldn't have been the same without him.

​@@jenn1916that's kind of what I think. It doesn't excuse bad behavior but at that age it's hard to relate to younger kids that you really can't "hang out with." I think in Lark's case she was also somewhat of an outcast because she couldn't/wouldn't do certain things due to her religious beliefs, which is absolutely respectable, but at that age, difficult to deal with. In the movie based on Dustin Diamond's book, both situations are shown. He wanted to prank people and have fun and the others wanted to get the scenes done and so he felt very estranged from them and that led to him hanging out with the wrong people. And it's also seen tht Lark doesn't hang out with the rest either. Of course, the book itself didn't help matters because it portrayed everyone in a bad light. I also think he had a lot of family issues. In an interview last year, MPG does acknowledge that they weren't close and wishes Dustin had reached out when he was diagnosed.

I was born in 94 so I missed the actual airing of the show😅. But this was my favorite show in middle school. TBS played this every weekday morning for a few years straight (I wonder if they still do). So I remember almost every episode as well. That pageant episode was a favorite of mines. I met screech years ago. A radio station around my area got him for their Christmas party. They were talking trash about him before he got to the party cause his manager made him out to be stuck up everything had to be right and even the right temperature in the car. When they picked him up from the airport they had him live on the air and he was the coolest down to earth guy. At the party he talked to everyone took questions and just hung out had a great time. The people from the radio station explain to him what happened and he was so made and screech couldn't apologize enough. Just a down right good guy he was.

I think it was for them too. Yes, they were the hip cool kids while Dustin was "the geek" but I always felt that Zack was the leader, Slater was the cool jock, Lisa was the princess, Jesse and Kelly were the hot brainiac and the hot cheerleader...but Screech was the heart of the show. Just because he harbored some resentment towards them (being the younger of them as well as the geek character) they still grew up together (especially him, Mark Paul, and Lark) and cared for each other. This was about as heartwarming and genuine as a tribute as they could've done for him. Yes it is Zack and the gang, but it's also Mark Paul, Lark, Mario, Elizabeth, and Tiffany all honoring their fallen friend. To Screech: Rest in peace Dustin.

Screech was the best part of the show in my opinion. He was more relatable as a character for us nerds geeks and dweebs who were not popular in school. I always associated more towards his character. Not to mention he was one of the Cast who didn't have previous acting experience made his performance even more to aspire to. You can see his improvement over the course of the series.

In Good Loving Memory of Dustin Diamond (Screech). This is so Emotional and sad that I had tears. The original cast isn't the same without him. Glad they talked about him. I can't believe he died young at age 44 we all really miss him alot. Yes he was the "Gimmick" for their show and he was so funny and talented. In fact I was watching "Saved by the Bell the College Years", the other day, and he just brought a smile to my face. I know he had some problems as an adult and made mistakes, but who of us walks through this life being perfect? I think the show should have paid a better tribute to him rather than 2 minutes. He was an icon of the 90's and his character will live on in the memory of those who enjoyed watching the show. RIP Dustin, and you were loved by so many fans I hope where ever you are now, you know that, because it's true.

I do agree that the tribute was great, however I too felt that it could have been better than just two minutes. The scripts could have been better written and maybe have the characters a little more somber. I have watched other series where other characters have died, and shows have paid a very well tribute in a very beloved manner. They could have Zack say "Not only he was funny, but he also was a friend." Lisa would have said "Although I do confess being so mean to him, and honestly I didn't mean it, he really was a good friend, even with me." Now that would have been an ending. To Screech, although he was goofy, but he saw positive things to appreciate in all other nerds, geeks and dorks. Rest in peace, Dustin Diamond. You will always be remembered and loved.

Screech kept the show going. Like you said, he was the only one who starred on every version of SBTB. He always kept the mood light and made the show much funnier. Without him, it would've been as forgettable as California Dreams.

Like the time when Screech stood up to a bully who was harassing him in the first season, then believe it or not, Zack, the rest of the kids, even surprisingly, Lisa stood in for him saying "If you want to get Screech, you'll have to go through us first." Another moment was when they forget his birthday and his friends have Screech a surprise party in Mr. Belding's office. Even Kevin the robot was there. Or the time when Jessie wanted to be the valedictorian so bad, that when Screech was picked as Valedictorian, he rejected the offer from Mr. Belding, claiming that he cheated on his final exams. When Jessie was finally called to give her speech as Valedictorian, she decided that she shouldn't give the speech at the Bayside High's graduation ceremony. She said Screech should have the honor. Then Screech looking all nervous on the stage and being generous, decided to let Zack give the commencement speech. Or the time, they all helped a homeless family during Christmas season. Or the time when Screech fell in love with a girl in College, when Zack asked Screech to tutor her. Screech even told this girl that he would take her to the science exhibit. That's when Zack said "That's OK Screech, I got the tickets to the show." It was hurtful for Screech. But in the end, Screech ran to the party in the College dorm and told this girl that he was in love with her. She finally told Zack "I'm so sorry Zack. You are really a nice guy, but I rather be with Screech. Or the time, when he trained a monkey named Lucy how to make sign language. Or the time back in high school, when Screech competed against a bully during a military competition challenge race and Screech defeated him in the end. He even got the girl who used to go out with the bully. I said a mouthful, but these clips would have been better, than those goofy clips which made him look like a laughingstock.

Sometimes we just need to stop being so analytical and critical and enjoy and respect something for what it is. Yes Dustin Diamond was a flawed person just like the rest of us. But he WAS a person, who had people who loved him and those that shared their childhood and teenage years with him on screen, like this cast. Those of us who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s also shared our younger years watching this group including Dustin, whose character Screech played a part in our memory of the original show and was one of the reasons we enjoyed it then. Let’s honor his life, memory and body of work by respecting what they chose to do creatively. RIP Dustin, thank you for the memories.

Dustin may have had troubles later in life, but none of us walk on water an instead of casting out a person for their mistakes there is concept that seems to be lost in this generation of people and that concept is "Forgiveness". Screw him. A man with that much Botox at _his_ age should indicate how insecure he is. That said, he probably spoke against Dustin when he was still alive because Dustin wasn't a likeable person after the porno and all the reality shows he did, and so Mark, being the insecure prude that he is, would publicly condemn Dustin as a way to separate himself from the guy he worked beside for so long. Because back in 2009 he released a “tell-all book” talking sh*t about all of them (like Lopez & Gosselaar used steroids, there was rampant sex, etc). Turns out most of it was lies written by a ghost writer he hired who fabricated most of it. Diamond never not final copy to approve either. AND he didn’t admit any of that until 2013. I know in 2016 he told Mario Lopez if he saw then he would seek forgiveness. But I don’t think he ever apologized for what he did until 2016?interview. Also, I think Mario was working on a reunion with him before he passed.

I remember reading Dustin Diamond said Lark Voorhies isn't how she appears in the show. All extroverted and with friends. He said she was always by herself alone and supposedly a bit shy. It goes to show that people aren't always like the character they play. She's a sweet person byt apparently not very outgoing. I'm glad to see she made it back to reunite with her old friends on "Saved by the Bell". I'm so sorry that Dustin Diamond didn't make it. I know that it’s much more than that. She has schizoaffective thought disorder. Which is a combination of schizophrenia and a mood disorder. As she explained on Dr Oz, or as the Dr explained, she forms complete sentences in her mind, but can not express them verbally. That’s why everything comes out mumble jumbled when she speaks. I didn’t know that when I was making a comment about how well she did, when having to repeat lines as an actress, that I needed to explain her whole disorder. I think most of us, noticed her speech, as we all watched her spiraling down into what we all know now as the disorder that she was diagnosed with. With that said, she did a hell of a job while dealing with her inability to form complete sentences. I am just really impressed by her.
