ChEssManiaC 1, David's (Copperfield) od the 'Laser Illusion' was impeccable. He is a master performer who like all geniuses, is not afraid to surround himself with others who, in ways, are as or more inventive than he alone. I book, produce and promote Illusion shows and have been working with the best, over the years. And David is deservedly, a legend! And a gentleman.

I've always liked magic shows especially live performances. Starting in 1969 my wife and I enjoyed seeing the live shows in Las Vegas especially when the shows could be watched close up. You give a table captain a gambling chip of sufficient value you would get ringside seats. We saw Penn & Teller, the Pendragons, and other important and up and coming magicians of that time. The only show we walked out on early was Seigfried & Roy. They kept reminding the audience to buy their overpriced, schlock souvenirs for sale in the lobby after the show. We did not pay a hefty price for a ticket to get advertisements. We enjoyed all the other performances. 😁

I don't like how people hate on David Blaine. He single handedly made magic relevant again, and in a way that people could relate to at the time. On the street, with real, unsuspecting people, at the height of the reality TV craze. I didn't like his later, hiding in a box or freezing in ice spectacles, to be honest, but he did things we'd never seen before and made way for the hundreds of street magicians on KZbin.

@@mustang8206 eh, just a personal preference. I want to make this clear: I'm absolutely not saying that his courage and ability to push the human body far past what most had thought possible, wasn't incredible. It was! I'm talking specifically about television content. The long, televised events with the large timer at the corner of the screen while all we saw was him still sitting in the same spot, eyes closed, while some reporter told us how many hours and minutes it's been when we can already see the clock in real-time, just wasn't interesting television for me. The beginning and end portions were certainly interesting and extremely impressive! I hope I was able to clear that up for you! 🤗

I understand that this is British TV special...but they sure seemed to put the British magicians up on a pedestal. They made fun of David Copperfield a lot, but although he's cheesy, he was one of the first to truly turn a magic show into something more akin to theatre. He was one of the first to start adding theatrical story telling and drama into his pieces. The became more like performances pieces than magic tricks.

They also had a Brit explain American culture, which was not only uninformed and ignorant, but rude. He said that Brits were taught manners as if we aren't! I have something to say about the #1 trick shown in this video. Performed by Penn & Teller : the bullet catch. Know that the heat that is produced when the bullet is fired is so high that any kind of paint over the bullet would have been consumed instantly, thus making it impossible to identify them that way. So yeah, this is a sleight of hand that is pretty amazing in the end.

52:40 the tank extends beyond the wall so someone can climb into the tank from the top on the other side. depth perception is more difficult looking from air to water because of the high index of refraction. also wouldn't hear because sound is muffled in water. that would be my guess. if you look, you can't see the end of the tank - it looks black instead of the white color of the wall, so it either extends a long way or that black thing is some kind of divider so you don't see the end that extends to the other side of the wall

the problem i have with the chris angel water tank trick. is the response the other magicians get. what are they talking about with trap doors and such. the tank was pushed against the wall. covering the front of the tank would allow the wall itself to be pulled up...allowing the girl to move into the front of the tank. which extends past the wall. when she is in the false wall drops back down. trick over.

There's only a small group of people shown watching it and they are all grouped tightly together. This trick is done with perspective I think. The Kevin James sawing a person in half one is *really* cheap. The edited out a *crucial* part of the trick to make it more impressive. I really thought they'd talk about the *whole trick*, cause seeing it for the first time it's still impressive as hell, but they don't. They skip over the same exact part. When I finally saw the unedited version it took away the entire trick. Magicians have a purpose for every move they do. Every move. And as soon as the half man and legs are put on that low rolling trolley thing he gets shoved off stage, for no reason whatsoever. This is what they edit out. And then he get's shoved *back* out, then get's stapled together. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know, then stick with being mystified, you're better off. But for me, seeing the entire act, it comes off as *kinda* creative, but ultimately comes off as a *very* cheap trick.

All he does is putting the ball all the time under the cup or not. The rest is misdirection to distract you from seeing him lifting the cup or throwing/taking the ball again. I used to be impressed by these shock street magicians, with their own filming and editing. Now it's the cheesiest thing on the planet to me. I also am not a fan of the huge stage productions with all kinds of obvious props. Close up sleight of hand is still amazing.

I agree. Sleight of hand requires actual skill. The other people just use gadgets and props, or edit the video to only show what they want seen. Also a lot of street magicians like Blaine and Angel use plants and stooges, which is lame.

Imagine how much viewing time could have been saved had the constant cuts to everyone's little unnecessary comments had been edited out. This music video ADHD editing method made this unwatchable for myself and I gave up before the third act. I was hoping to see the actual act and not have to wade through a series of abrupt asides from no one in particular weighing in to add yet another insipid remark and, thus, their pointless seconds of face-time.

cgi is not magic. tech already destroying magic n i feel like that movie kind of mock at real magicians. some dumb dumbs gonna ask real magicians why cant u do tricks like those in the movies. CUZ THOSE R NOT REAL TRICKS. they did use some real magic tricks but those r pretty lame. i get it cuz those r actors not real magicians so there hav to be cgi for the amazing part but then whats the point for watching fake magic? for the movies great plot? meh. if i like fake magic i would watch criss angel. but its just my own opinion n i hav no interest to force anyone to agree with me. just like to put this thought out there.

actually, each and every trick is real, or at least conceptually real. the directors and actors both wanted each trick to be possible, exactly like now you see me 1. The only person on that cast who dose virtually none of the actual magic, and leaves bits to CGI or to the stand ins (such as real magician blake vogt) is Jesse. Mark Ruffalo and Dave Franco were actually adiment that they do all stunts possible themselves.. almost every interview with each actor talks about the fact that they now understand how each trick in the movie is preformed IRL. That being said I agree on the whole criss angel bit.

Would have been much better if there weren't so many people commenting in the middle of the clips!!

The hummer bit was an obvious composite shot and two takes cut together. You can see in the difference of a frame that the hummer jumps forward a good 20 feet

This video would be so amazing without all the people constantly talking.
