MBTA in Boston, Massachusetts has trackless trolley buses, too!!!

Not anymore. Both the Lines out of Harvard and the Silver Line has retired the Trackless Trolleybuses in favor of Battery Buses. Last Harvard Bus ran in March of 2022 and last Dual-Mode Silver Line bus ran in July 2023.

@@CaseysTrains Oh damn, I didn't know MBTA got rid of their Silver Line trackless trolleys, that's what I was referring to, I knew about Harvard back then, wow, interesting!!

Hi I would like any idea or advice about recording on board including but not limited to njt and path. I usually take video from origin to terminal without stop so that may be difficult if anyone stops. Thank you so much.

I heard the e40lfr’s is being retired is that true. If so what will the replacement be if they want to keep the 59, 75 and 66 as tbuses?

Ha. No. That's all hot air. They have at least 10-12 more years left in service. SEPTA doesn't put them to the same standard as diesel buses, usually electric vehicles tend to last 20-30 years. The Previous generation Buses ran from 1980-2003 and ones before from 1955-1982. So yeah.

Update 5 months later. SEPTA has announced the plan to buy 38 new Dual-Mode Electric Buses who will run on both wire and battery along the 59, 66 & 75 Line. The New ETBs will be delivered by 2027 which will meetup with the 20th Birthday of the E40LFRs.
