His loyalty was to whoever gave him the best chance to survive. He never had a chance. No one can judge him for the horrors he suffered. And worse than he did. Having to live and watch the lives he destroyed around him took everything away from him. Only Carrie hoped to find redemption. Brody knew his destiny was to die. In her last moments, she made a point of being there. To witness it, its truth, its history as it finally came to an end. Homeland has always tried to be realistic and show both sides of the coin (which is exactly why I like the series). Not to mention Claire Danes' brilliant performance. Few actresses can manage to be as expressive as she is. The final scenes cut my heart, but I loved it. It is life, and as has been said, each action has its consequences. People die, people. There is no point in being angry about it. The scene where Carrie ... Making a star on the wall of the honorees is incredibly sad, a farewell to everything she went through with Brody, a "thank you", even if discreet and silent. I am american. -Nick Brody The character chose Dana and Carrie as soon as he returned from the Iran mission. Series that will leave a big void for fans. Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was awesome, it will stay as one of the striking moments of the series, without a doubt! "And what you wanted, which was for everyone to see in him what you see. That has happened. Everyone sees him through your eyes now..." In another crazy twist, the sixth episode revealed that Carrie was pregnant. She was also drinking, on lithium, and under extremely high stress situations, which doesn't seem like the best mix. She revealed in the episode "A Red Wheelbarrow" that the baby was Brody's and also in that episode, she weaved a web of lies to get Bennett and Franklin to connect her with the real bomber of Langley. But with Carrie asking so many questions, Franklin decided to dispose of the true bomber by shooting him. Carrie tried to stop him (she needed the bomber alive to prove Brody's innocence), but Quinn (my boy!) shot her in the arm to stop her from ruining their cover. So much for taking it easy, eh?

8:28 What's so great about the character Saul on Homeland? 1. His razor sharp wit. 2. His dialogues (mostly one-liners) combined with his manly voice stands apart in the show. 3. Well respected among his peers - Amidst double agents, terrorists and crooked officers, this guy is a breath of fresh air. 4. He is balanced character. Good guy, very smart, sometimes rough. The actor play him very very well. He is very credible even in emotinal scenes. Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), senior agency officer, extremely experienced, a great strategist, the man who discovered Carrie, trained her, taught her almost everything she knows; as Carrie's mentor, he also protects her when she goes cold or in a psychiatric crisis - an extraordinary professional, however the girl suffers from bipolar disorder, the disease that until 15 years ago, before the mania for the politically correct, psychiatrists called PMD, manic depression. Oh, and the BEARD, of course! Award for "Homeland" (Showtime, 2012)... Who deserved to be the winner as a supporting actor Homeland sent all of his supporting actors for Emmy consideration (yes, even Chris Brody), now the only one with a chance - and a good chance - to a nomination is our own teddy bear, Mandy Patinkin. After being despised by a nomination last year, which surprised almost everyone, he is in a good position to enter the roster this year. On the positive side, Patinkin is loved on this show, playing probably the nicest character (he's not the mole, guys). Saul's role has become more prominent this season and with that came more critical acclaim. The second season may have been a shit storm of action and scary watched sex and punches and runs, but the Bear was at the center of it all, calm and quiet and a force to be reckoned with. He still has two featured shipping tapes in "The Clearing" and "The Choice" (I would choose "The Choice", which I consider a more powerful performance, but it's just me). And because Supporting Actor is a weaker overall category this year than last year (when two strong performances, Jared Harris in Mad Men and Giancarlo Esposito in Breaking Bad, both ineligible this year, received nominations), he is likely to succeed, probably comfortably. Still, you may wonder why Patinkin, who has won an Emmy and participated in several TV shows in the past twenty years, has not gotten a nomination. I think he was probably the seventh or eighth in last year's vote, so he narrowly missed. It was a stronger category last year and Homeland was nowhere near as popular as it is today. It was generally agreed that the show underperformed in the nominations. Sure, he made up for his surprising wins, but that his wins were surprising (he benefited a lot from the tape system, like a more recent program) says he still didn't have the influence or prominence of a Mad Men or even a Breaking Bad . Mandy Patinkin looks set to receive a nomination for this role for the first time. His Golden Globe nomination earlier this year will certainly help him, as will his character's increased presence this season and the program's growing overall profile.

but the show is still very good, they had to kill Brody anyway as he was a terrorist. A lot of good people died because of his collaboration with Abu Nazir. now Peter Quinn matters

Season 3: Why was Carrie so distant with Saul at the end? Carrie/Saul distance, this is a really good question since the season three finale. The Carrie/Saul distrust and distance was one of the main throughlines of season three and established early on. Their distrust was mutual. They were able to come together when it mattered, but the reality is that A) Saul left Carrie in a mental hospital for a month and fundamentally lied to her about the extent of what was supposed to be a shared plan (3.01-3.04) B) Saul had no interest in tracking Carrie when she was taken by Javadi’s men, another seeming departure from a shared plan (3.05-3.06) C) Saul lied to Carrie about his location and plan to retrieve Brody as the final step of his “peace in the Middle East” plan (3.08-3.09) D) Carrie went along with Saul’s plan, knowing it would almost certainly end in Brody’s death, and while she can’t blame for Saul for that, I do think she might have resented him for putting it in motion (i.e., offering Brody up as a sacrificial lamb) and was projecting her own guilt onto him (3.09-3.12) E) Saul was passed over for the CIA directorship and Carrie stayed and more or less toed the company line with his replacement, Lockhart. While Saul voiced an outward pride in the promotion of his protégé, he may have felt the same loyalty he showed Carrie over the years was in some regard repaid (3.12). The flipped dynamic of Carrie on the inside, Saul on the outside, is explored further in season four.

9:13 Carrie Mathison was deeply broken during the third season. She went to a psychiatric clinic, had to deal with the death of the man she loved most and wanted to protect as much as with a pregnancy that was not part of her life plan. All of this changed the character and hardened her to the limit. The fourth season's Carrie has an armor around her that prevents her from getting emotionally involved with anyone, including Francis, her daughter (who besides being a real baby, with the same face as her father). Carrie Mathison can be frustrating, discouraged, and IMPACTABLE. She has a tendency to choose the wrong men. This is partly because of her own fractured family history - her parents split up when she was a teenager because of her mother's constant infidelity - and partly because, for Carrie, the mission always comes first. She is an ambivalent mother - in season 4, she imagined drowning her baby in the bath - and yet, in season 6, when antagonist Dar Adal caused her daughter to be taken from her, Carrie with determined behavior, fought tooth and nail to get it back. The only one who really loved her was Sergeant Brody, the only person who loved her so sincerely that he ended up being the father of his daughter, his greatest happiness, before being hanged in Iran due to treason by the CIA and the American government. The court dialogue made Carrie realize that she was being an inadequate mother. Carrie only agreed to hand over Franny's care due to the promise that she can see her every two weeks.

Homeland's Most Shocking Deaths: Prepare to Make a Carrie Mathison Cry Face! Look back at the show's most memorable goodbyes ahead of Sunday's season 5 premiere The first four seasons of Homeland have been a wild ride. Terrorist plots, unexpected betrayals and executions have made for a plethora of memorable goodbyes on the Showtime series. So before we reunite with Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) for Sunday’s season 5 premiere, take a look back at all of Homeland’s bombshell farewells that left us astonished. Tom Walker How he died: After regrouping following their botched suicide bomb attack in the season 1 finale, Nicholas Brody (Damien Lewis) and fellow former Marine Tom Walker (Chris Chalk) had mastermind Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban) on the phone. Nazir ordered Brody to shoot Walker, and he complied with a swift bullet to the head. Why it was shocking: We saw a shred of humanity in Brody when he made good on his promise to daughter Dana (Morgan Saylor) and decided not to denote the bomb vest. But this stone-cold killing reminded us that the dubious American hero was loyal to, and only to, the al-Qaeda operative. William Walden How he died: After Brody helped Abu Nazir retrieve the serial number of Vice President Walden’s (Jamey Sheridan) pacemaker in season 2’s “Broken Hearts,” the terrorist group hacked into the device and accelerated it, inducing a fatal heart attack. Why it was shocking: Walden’s offing earned stunner points for creativity, and was extra jaw-dropping for the eery way his potential runningmate Brody watched him die. Abu Nazir How he died: The terrorist leader is cornered and killed by a SWAT team in an abandoned factory in season 2. Why it was shocking: As the man who held Brody captive for eight years, Nazir was the bad guy on Homeland. To see him finally taken out in a somewhat generic, anti-climatic way was intially a head-scratcher. David Estes How he died: The Director of the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center (David Harewood) was killed when a car bomb goes off outside of the agency’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia during a memorial service for Vice President Walden in the season 2 finale. He was one of over 200 victims of the attack. Why it was shocking: Carrie’s boss had often been at odds with her throughout the series, and it was a surprise to see the show abandon such an intriguing dynamic. A massive hit at the CIA’s home base was even more stunning. Susan and Fariba How they died: In season 3, high-ranking Iranian intelligence officer Majid Javadi (Shaun Toub) broke into the home of his daughter-in-law, Susan (Emily Donahoe), and his ex-wife, Fariba (Mary Apick), who had fled to the United States years prior. Javadi shot Susan in the head before slashing his former spouse to death with a broken bottle. When Carrie and Quinn (Rupert Friend) arrived on the scene, they were instructed to leave Susan’s infant son alone in the blood-soaked house. Why it was shocking: The murders and their gory aftermath were shocking chiefly because of their brutality. Fara Sherazi How she died: Terrorists took over the American embassy in Islamabad and carried out a gruesome season 4 massacre. During the siege, leader Haissam Haqqani (Numan Acar) stabbed Sherazi (Nazanin Boniadi) in the back. Why it was shocking: It was easy to empathize with the compassionate, brave analyst when she was introduced in season 3. Her likability made the particularly brutal way she died not only shocking, but devastating. Nicholas Brody How he died: Declared an enemy of the Iranian government in season 3, Brody was sentenced to a public execution by hanging. Carrie watched as the life slipped away from her complicated love’s body as a square full of people hauntingly cheered on. Why it was shocking: The leading man had miraculously evaded death for nearly 3 seasons, and it was at the point where we believed the soldier-turned-traitor could survive anything. Brody’s death meant the end of Emmy-winning actor Damien Lewis’ time on the show, and that we had seen the last of his amazing chemistry with Danes.

5:50 Does the CIA have hitmen (like Peter Quinn in Homeland)? Why would Quinn hesitate to kill Brody in Homeland (TV Series)? Are there CIA officers capable of carrying out targeted killings? Yes, there are. Are such people often sent to do an actual “hit” as opposed to a paramilitary action like a raid or an ambush? I’d suspect almost never. A “hit”- an assassination in a non-battlefield setting -is a fairly rare thing. Even something like, say, blowing up a jihadi leader in his vehicle is much more likely these days to be a military action with drones or a designator team calling in an airstrike. Targeted killings in non-battlefield settings are risky ventures- failure is public, and a captured CIA officer would be a propaganda coup. If a “hitman” is needed, it’s probably more likely that a local would be used, someone not connected to the US or to CIA, someone who may not be aware of who his actual employers are. Quinn realizes that: a) Brody's information was accurate b) Since his political career was over, he was no longer a threat c) Killing him would destroy Carrie's life [and Saul Berenson's professional life] d) He would only satisfy Estes's selfish motives. We can say that Peter Quinn was one of the best-built characters in history - alongside Brody, Carrie, Saul, Quinn and Astrid, Max, Fara, Virgil. It would be possible to clarify the following doubts: - Would you like to see Homeland reveal how the CIA explained Brody in Iran and his death to the American press? - Clearly, Javadi's ability to receive credit for Brody's capture helped his cause in Iran, but did the US government reveal Brody's role in Akbari's murder? - Was your name cleared for the CIA attack? I'd love to know what you think. - Another loose thread: Paul Franklin and the murder of the "real" CIA bomber. He ended up doing that scene ... why ?? Carrie was publicly humiliated, beaten, doped, shot and put her life on the line countless times without hesitation, just to make others see Brody as she saw him ... and she succeeded. Abu Nazir, the CIA, Jessica and the show's own audience, no one came close to seeing Brody with the clarity Carrie has always seen. Carrie has always read Brody like no one else. Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was incredible, it will be one of the most memorable moments in the series, without a doubt! “And what you wanted, which was for everyone to see what you see in him. That happened. Everyone sees it through your eyes now ... ”[And what you wanted, was for everyone to see what you see in it. That happened. Everyone sees it through your eyes now ...] - How did Carrie see Brody? and how did the US come to see this? It's the world? The 3rd season did not correspond to the 1st and 2nd as it should be. Compared to most seasons it was weak, as the plot and plot issues that were overlooked or addressed briefly stood out in season 3. There was no "hunting" in Brody's scenes earlier in the season to make it look like he really was desired NOS. Where Roya Hammad and his terrorist partner Mister X... They were? We never received an explanation for the events surrounding how Brody's car was moved and his involvement, only what we got was the "real" author of the bomb at the CIA in a hotel that we must believe to be a super leap that changed the script. For such an investment in storytelling around Brody's family over the past 3 seasons, for him to just disappear the way he did, it was a waste of time - to make Dana's story worse, it was shallow. And all those scenes about Mike and Brody's wife continually in love with each other, and just ending up in season three were useless - and Brody's son disappeared. What about Brody's marine friends who thought he was part of the conspiracy? And Quinn's underutilization throughout the season after being instrumental in the beginning of the second season's premiere. All positive points, they should have made the homeland a show of this 3rd season and address every possible plot! Claire Danes and Damian Lewis gave us, in Damian’s words, “two broken-winged birds sort of hobbling and circling around each other” in Carrie and Brody in such a compelling way that even though it really ended in tears, it was a GREAT RIDE as long as it lasted. And if you miss these two as much as we do, you may want to re-live the LOVE with Carrie and Brody: Was It Love? YES. Homeland had a sensible ending, closed all of Carrie's stories, while continuing the ongoing story of America's and Russia's rivalry. The series ends, but does not end, only better than that was seeing all these years incredible performances by F. Murray Abraham, Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, Rupert Friend and Mandy Patinkin ...

I can't find enough time to sleep ever since I came across this series, I'm now starting season 4, very tired but I have to finish it . So far I never ever wanted Brody to be the terrorist. With Carrie, that lady is more than clever, watching her struggling with Abu Nazir in that factory as a woman was the best part of the series. I'm yet to find out the number Brody sent to Abu Nazir that led to the release of Carrie how it was connected with the health of the VP.

Season 4 is proof positive that Carrie will literally sell her soul and eyeballs and kidneys in the name of the cause, she is a hideous character in this. I hope there is some sort of redemption for her. The way she dumped her own kid was atrocious.

Omg you read my mind that was just sick.. She doesnt deserve to be head of any station.. And in real life she would have been locked up.. Bombed a wedding having sex with a kid who ended up getting his head blown off.. Un acceptable she's operating with impunity doing whatever she wants... The Pakistanis drugged her but i dont think that was enough.. Because from that.. I thinks she ends up fucking the young Pakistani General dude.. One would think after making a kid with brody a kid she didn't want she'd stop sleeping around.. It doesn't end there because i think quinn even ends up getting close to getting some of that carrie ass also.. Kinda puts this narrative out there that and girl in the cia is probably a slut for her country...

I thought season 1 was okay, quite good actually. Season 2 was much better. Season 3 was very good. Season 4 - to me it was the best season ever !!!! Season 5...well a bit boring Season 6 - I kinda think they shouldve stopped after season 4 🤔

Dialogues are a bit on the dumb side, although this is teevee after all. Also, rife with American and Israeli propaganda, but as a thriller it works most of the time.

4th was very disappointing and unprofessionally scripted. Carey is completely over the top obnoxious and acting irrational, which is totally unrealistic (in a big way) as a portrait of a CIA officer station chief. Her scene about saving Saul is one of the worst scripts in movie history.

It’s a horrible show, she is the worst agent and the CIA would never employ that nut job. Danes acting sucks. Character is awful. Constantly crying face, flipping out, tantrums, never catching the bad guys until it’s too late, spitting in everyone’s face, etc. The Quinn character and a few others made it worth watching sometimes. But it’s transparent propaganda agenda is too obtuse to ignore. Glad it’s just a tv show
