I had originally bought a WR250R and it was great for about 2 months and 1000km. I sold it and bought a TW. It’s got 1000km in a month and I’ve never looked back. It’s just so much more fun.

Also, if your battery fails you can simply roll the bike about 5 miles an hour, drop it in 2nd or 3rd gear, and pop the clutch and it will run just fine until you shut it down. The KLX will not do that I believe.

Does it feel good on country roads going 55-60? That's my only concern with it, but other than that they look like exactly what I need for a first dual sport.
@carter2406 ай бұрын
@@yoda2000675 that’s pretty fast for gravel if it’s loose but it tops out around 100. It is no speed demon. I just bought a KTM150xcw for off-road stuff but I’m still not selling the TW and keeping it for exploring because it’s just more fun to ride slow.

I have a DRZ400 and TW200 - love the TW for exploring and yes, paddling with the feet is so easy in tougher terrain - the TW is an unstoppable goat! The DRZ is for when you want to rip, but the keys for the TW get chosen more :)

Well said. Well, as far as the TDUB goes. I haven't ridden the Kawasaki, but you nailed it saying the TDUB is perfect for chill riding, which is me.

I've owned a lot of bikes, and have sold 2 of them since buying my TW new in 2020. I rode one in about 91 or 2, and had to have one eventually. I'm down to 2 bikes. My 77 XS650, and my trusty T Dub. It will go anywhere I want it to. It gets about 50 street miles a week, and at least that overall on weekends and vacations off road. Even though I am 6'2", and 230 ish, at 62, it's the perfect bike for me. I want to find another one, and mod it to fit me perfectly. Just like my 2020.

I ride a KLX300 but also have plans to add the TW . I mostly dig the looks of it being honest. It's a forever bike you RARELY see for sale on the open market. Figure I'll just buy new as I did the KLX & just keep 'em. Something about low CC bikes just makes me happy.

Excellent comparison. If only there was a TW 250 or TW 300 that was exactly the same size, style & tire format of the TW 200 but with 10 or 12 more HP & maybe but not necessarily 1 1/2 inches taller/more ground clearance & travel, I would buy one in a heart beat. I've ridden one several times & they're heaps of fun but severely lacking in power & speed. If only you could confidently ride one on the highway (not freeway) for maybe an hour at a time to get to those off-road trails, hills & back country or commute to work a little faster (say: 65-70 MPH/110-120 KM PH easily) it would be a dream bike & an even bigger seller. I feel the same about the Kawasaki Versys X300. If it was a parallel twin 400 with a little more low end grunt, not so buzzy & comfortable on the highway all day long at about 5-10 MPH faster, it would be a force to be reconned with as far as smaller, middle weight ADV bikes go. Thanks for making this video dude. On a side note: I'm a man of a certain age (read old) with about 45 yrs riding experience on countless different bikes all over North America. After a time, speed becomes inconsequential & you come full circle back to smaller, more easily manageable, less threatening bikes. I recently sold my last Sport Tourer & XR650L & ride Vespa scooters now. (150, 250 & 300 cc) I've been thinking about adding a Yamaha XMAX 300 & TW 200 to the mix. Your video improved the chances of me perhaps actually purchasing the TW 200. Cheers from Canada.

Yamaha makes a TW225 in Asia for just that extra power you are mentioning. But I don’t think they released them in North America. Unless you made a special order from a vendor overseas.

I understand what you are saying. I started riding in 1967, and I mostly rode Yamaha enduros. 175, and 360. Then I got my first thumper in the form of an XT500. I loved it. I progressed to a 1986 XT600, and I rode it for years. Then I started riding quads. About 4 yeas ago I wanted to get me another XT 600. I found a 94 XT 600, and fixed it up. (it was badly neglected) I soon learned that my 86 600 was a dirt bike that you could take on the road. My 94 600 was a road bike that you can take into the dirt. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!!! I rode it around anyway, and realized that I could NEVER ride on a single track with that high-geared top-heavy beast. Last year, I was riding on a 2 track, and I had to go around a tree that was across the road. I got off-balance and tipped over. I was alone, like I always am, and it took me 25 minutes to figure out a way to lift up that heavy beast. I went back to the truck, loaded it up, and took it to my favorite bike shop and told him to sell it!!! I then bought a 2022 TW 200. I absolutely love that little bike. I can take it through a pile of rocks, and it just does not care. I went on a 120 mile ride 2 days ago, and after doing that, I decided that I will put it on a trailer and haul it up to the places that I want to ride. I do not enjoy pavement riding much anymore. I still have my quad, and I like it just as well, but it is a different type of fun on the TW.

The KLX250 is fuel injected and liquid cooled, which means you have a whole lot more to quit on you in the middle of nowhere compared to the TW200. Also, the TW200 will run just fine without a battery, all you have to do is put it in 2nd or 3rd gear and roll it and pop the clutch and it will start and run until you shut it down, even the lights will work. For reliability you want the TW200 all day over the KLX.

Until a stick goes through your radiator in the middle of nowhere. Until your fuel injection pump in the gas tank fails. Until your water pump fails, thermostat fails, hoses get cut by a rock, radiator gets smashed, ect... ect... All the things that can't possibly happen to a TW200.

I've not heard any talk about dropping the air pressure in their tires when off-roading. Not only would traction improve but the ride would be smoother and the tires would be more resistant to puncture damage. There are small portable air compressors that would inflate the tires for road use.

Hi, first comparison video I’ve seen (worth watching) of these 2 bikes. Long story short, I ride 80% off road, which in Northern Wisconsin is gravel or Sandy firelanes. I’m 59 years old, experienced rider but not a great rider, had a WR250r, in 08’ but i remember in gravel and sand, I always had the Un easy feeling that the front end is walking/wondering. I had my mind set on a 230 KLX, until I thought about the amount of Sandy firelanes and trails, and the wider tires of the TW. Although I’m 59, I do like to wheelie, drift a few corners and catch a little air, but I’m trying to be honest with myself for this purchase. What do you guys think? Thanks.

I have both bikes. The great thing about the Klx….for all around dual sport use it is the best bike in the world for me. Speeds to 80-90 mph depending on tires with 100mph possible with mods. Pulls hard enough with exhaust and tune to 70ish. Super reliable. Long maintenance intervals. (Unlike KTM or Husky)Good off-road capability. Adjustable suspension. (Unlike the CRF) inexpensive to buy, repair, maintain. Manageable seat height at 35” (Yamaha WR is 37”) makes it unique to everything else in ways that matter to me. TW is a little tractor that will get you slow anywhere. It’s awesome. But I ain’t hitting open 2 tracks with whoops at 55 mph on it like my Klx…and that is one of the funnest thing you can ever experience!

TW's are great but they are so limited at altitude and fuel injection is far superior and despite all the comments and riding with a lot of people, I have never seen a problem. If you don't want liquid cool, go for the xt250.

It's interesting how you reviewed both of these bikes on terrain they were not intended for. The dual sport are meant for light trails and on road driving but you didn't even compare them on road. Did you use them on the road and which would you pick then?
