It'd be a great idea to incorporate the led system on life vests, so many sea searches are called off at night.

Green Silver Yes, it would. FWIW, I always have three sources of light on me when diving, and so does my dive buddy. So that's six sources of light between the two of us in the event that we somehow get separated from the boat (happened once, and even just 20 minutes of bobbing out of sight of the boat is enough pucker factor to change your life).

Brian Voges LEDs outlive the batteries they're attached to, and this battery is rated for 500 charge cycles for 100% charge and 10000 charge cycles for 80% charge. Basically, if you charge it once every month like you should, you'll die before you wear it out.

It seems like you could wrap a second bungee around your shoulder strap to hold the light in place and keep it from flopping around, and also use the bungee you have in case it gets knocked out. That way you'd always have the solar cell facing out while about, or have the "spotlight" always facing forward without having to hold it.

What does the company say about how these products last?
@TWANGnBANG10 жыл бұрын
IDESERTSTORM LEDs will outlive you. The battery is rated for 500 charge cycles to 100% capacity and 1000 to 80% capacity, which is 83 years if you charge every month like you should, longer if you don't. TPU is UV and chemical resistant, and is designed to survive longterm storage as well as exposure to conditions commonly found in the aftermath of a disaster. It's a new product, but the components are not new. These *should* last a literal lifetime if cared for.

Good concept but NO STROBE / SOS = FAIL
@TWANGnBANG10 жыл бұрын
Mac Kwi These are designed for use where the entire place is an SOS signal. :) It would certainly be a good feature to add for personal safety use, and I will pass this on to the designers.
@andrew-ripley174710 жыл бұрын
+Mac Kwi What would you use the strobe for?
@TWANGnBANG10 жыл бұрын
Andrew Tadsen It's a good suggestion. If you're in trouble but nobody is actively looking for you, a steady light will probably be ignored. However, an SOS-pattern strobe will instantly be recognized as an emergency signal by most people, whether or not they are in LE/mil/SAR.
@andrew-ripley174710 жыл бұрын
+TWANGnBANG To me, the SOS function makes total sense. I'm just wondering what you would do with a high-frequency strobe. Maybe my definition of "strobe" is different; usually I use the flashlight manufacturers' definition, where "SOS" is a low-frequency, repeating 3 flash pattern, and "strobe" is a high-frequency continuous flashing mode (or an alternating higher/lower frequency flash, but still not the 3 flash pattern). The only uses I know of for a high-frequency strobe are vision disruption and lighting effects. With the light having no real "high" setting, and the large area diffuser, it seems like a high-frequency strobe wouldn't be too useful in this product. The low-frequency SOS pattern would be a great addition.
@TWANGnBANG10 жыл бұрын
Andrew Tadsen Not a high frequency strobe like in a taclight- think of a slow blinking strobe like a marker buoy light. It would be great for non-emergency signaling or marking where a steady light might be hard to distinguish from other light sources.

It's sad that all your videos are commercials
@TWANGnBANG10 жыл бұрын
FadBamsen11 Yeah, you'd think that BowMag would disagree, but hey, if you think this is a commercial for them, then who am I to argue... @watch?v=TTCCUXRO1ik Winchester can't be happy that I showed their barrier-blind bullet coming apart through a windshield, but you know, maybe this could be promotional material for the T-Series, anyway... @watch?v=6pDvUJ5HJq8 Magpul was thrilled when I said that I didn't like their "K" grip in this comparison... @watch?v=vTgw-n9xdr8 I'm not going to lie- E-Lander was pissed at this video... @watch?v=jH-bVP6MQD0 ...and GLOCK remains less than thrilled that this is still online two years later... @watch?v=CbgrioNpJSA The fact is that I am lucky to get my pick of many different interesting products to T&E, and I have no interest in wasting my time on products that are "meh" or I know from the start just stink. I'm not going to make up something bad to say about a product just so I have at least one thing bad to say, but heck, even in this video I point out that this lantern does not work very well for moving in the dark. Other than that, this product deserves all of the attention it can get- it is a fantastic idea done by a fantastic group of people, and I'm happy to spread the word about it.
