Can I do zazen with eyes closed? I am asking this because I have different eye sight for each of my eyes,so staring at a wall is truly uncomfortable where as closing eyes feels good

You can. The problem is that one tends to get distracted by one's own mind if you do it that way. Dogen said something like, "If you can avoid being distracted by your own mind you can sit with eyes closed. But I can't do it that way." And if Dogen couldn't avoid being distracted by his own mind, I don't think I can! My own eyesight is also quite different between my two eyes. My left eye is really bad - I couldn't function without glasses if both eyes were like that. My right eye is pretty good, to the point I only need glasses for reading in that eye (and I only started needing those once I got old). My solution is to wear my glasses during zazen.

@@HardcoreZen That’s from the first album I think, I have raw power! I always think of the three stooges despite knowing a little about the actual individual band members. But yeah! One of the most clever crossover T-Shirts I’ve seen. I have the death metal celine dion one. But I’m not a celine dion fan so maybe I don’t get it. Titanic? Oh, I saw one with woody allen on it and it said “gg allin” lol!
