The book cover is such a big part of the enjoyment of owning a book, and to see beautiful books on a shelf is a joy - I work in a library, I love books, sometimes the cover more so than the story! Imagine all books came in a plain brown paper cover.....no thanks! Xx

I love love love looking at book covers, it's the first thing people see in a book and it's the way a publisher/artist/author chose to represent the story, and sometimes it varies from country to country, i find them so interesting, and as a book buyer if i see a colorful or shiny cover (yes i am a magpie) it's obviously going to draw me in, nothing wrong with that i think

I absolutely agree, reading is reading! The enjoyment of reading is an experience that encompasses the book in all its glory, however it looks or how much it costs. It's so sad that people with chips on their shoulders have to try to ruin the reading experience for others. Maybe Eric should read some plain covered self -help books on the subject of bullying or the effects of trying to put others down in order to rise above their own afflictions. Good in you Ciara, to each their own, you do you!

I completely agree with you, reading is reading. No need to belittle people who have a different taste. Also beautiful covers are there for people who want to have them, if someone wants a plain cover or a cheaper book they do not have to buy it. Why do people have to be negative all the time, creating negativity and problems when there is no need for one is so wrong, we have enough problems already. Respecting others is not that hard. Rant over 😊

I tend to buy books based off covers and buy possible multiple copies of the same book because of the cover art. I study illustration and a beautiful and intriguing book cover are just the best. Like not only a hopefully good book but also a beautiful one?!! 🤩 what could be better?

Another vlogmas video from you, yeah! :D You have so beautiful and nice mugs to drink hot drinks! There is nothing wrong to collect beautiful books (at least if they will be read). I also have most of my Stephen King's books in that beautiful colorful hodder paperback edition and yes, I have used a lot of money on them and also yes, I bought most of them before I had even read anything by Stephen King. But he is one of my favourite authors now so the money was well spent :D So keep buying books with beautiful covers, it's totally fine!

I am so happy about the way you responded to the comment and I agree with you! Sometimes you just can't help yourself and buy a book simply for the cover - and I bought Six of Crows because of that (and I know it isn't your favorite) and I ended up enjoying it (and the sequel ended up being one of my all-time favorite books). Also, even though for me, who lives in the Czech republic, it's not really Christmas anymore (as we celebrate it on the 24th), I wish You the merriest Christmas and I hope you and your family (including Jay, say hi to him haha) are staying healthy.

When I first started watching booktube I also thought: what's the point of buying a book by its cover? But never actually judge anyone (out loud) for doing it. Now I often find myself adding books to my wishlist just because they "look pretty". Big news! The cover and its art does matter! Obviously you might be disappointed, but that can happen with any read. Edit: All your vegan food always makes me super hungry! There isn't nearly as many vegan or even vegetarian options where I live.

Love your videos Ciara! I agree, that the viewer should not have come down on you for reading beautiful covered books. If a beautiful cover makes someone more eager to read, I don't see the issue here. I totally despise people that critique others for no reason at all.
