Rolex has always been known for producing excellent dive watches. The Submariner, for instance, is one of the most popular timepieces around. But it is important to note that Rolex’s arsenal is more than just the Submariner. People often forget its shy but capable sibling - the Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller.
In 2014, Rolex released a special version of the Deepsea Sea-Dweller in honour of Cameron’s deep dive. Instead of the usual black dial, it came in what they call the “D-Blue” dial.
Each watch fits a certain type of personality. And for the Deepsea Sea-Dweller, the obvious answer would be professional divers. Indeed, the features of the watch are more than enough for their needs. However, there are good reasons why a non-diver will also appreciate this mechanical marvel.
Whether you’re going to maximise the watch’s features or not, the Rolex Deepsea Sea-Dweller is a great buy and will always be a conversation starter.

Something after 20 years I am going to buy. I had a 1977 red/blue GMT with ceramic bezel on lay-away back in 1999, but forfeited it as I moved overseas. It was only $3500 AUD at the time. Now I am kicking myself!. But this is THE watch I have dreamt of for a few years. Sad thing is I have no one to hand it down too!

Please help me, I have a similar watch, but it shows a different time and date, how can I adjust the time? the right button does not go pressed nor unscrewed

Could I just add a slight correction to your commentary? 3:45 - the D Blue never went to the bottom of the Mariana trench. It was released in 2014 to commemorate James Camerons epic dive which was done in 2012....so unless Rolex invented a time machine, this would be impossible. However, Rolex did send a watch down with Cameron, but it wasnt a D Blue, it wasnt even a regular Deep Sea, it was a special one off piece called the Deep Sea Challenge. It had a 50mm case & a depth rating of 39,370ft or12,000m far higher than the standard Deep Sea watch. btw, he didnt wear it, it was fastened to the outside of his vessel lol.

I believed that watch which Cameron wore with him in the sub was a model 116660 with the 3135 movement. It was definitely a Rolex Deepsea model but definitely not the 126660 launched in 2014.

@@daggyag9613 the watch he wore was a Submariner. The 126660 was released in 2018 not 2014. I think you are referring to the 116660 DBlue edition of the Deep Sea which was released in 2014. The original Deep Sea black dial was released in 2008 - you are mixing up references & years

Cameron wore the black dial deepsea sea dweller...the silly blue dial is the commemorative model. The deepsea "challenge" was outside the sub. @@TenTen32

can someone find out if the the green letter "DEEP SEA" are painted green from the exact green batch of paint they used on the submarine. Because that would be AMAZING. or is it just a close color combination

The so-called "James Cameron" is not what Cameron himself had on when he went down in the sub..He was wearing the "Black dial" DeepSea which is the greatest Rolex ever made. The blue dial variation to commemorate the dive is tacky in my opinion. The green lettering is horrible.......The BLACK dial DeepSea Sea Dweller is the way to go in 2023. Looks like a Submariner on steroids. It is the Mans Mans Rolex.

Often times when I'm diving at 10,000 meters + I worry my Rolex deep sea might fail. Then I wouldn't know when to ascend.
