I think some people like Beth because she’s more relatable than the other characters. Most of the viewers are young, around her age in the show so everything she goes through as a kid in this world, we take it harder because that’d be us. Also, not everyone would just change after something so big, it takes time, just like Carol. If she hadn’t died at that moment, she would have made such an amazing character that many young teens and kids could understand and relate to and maybe grow to love if they didn’t before.

I feel like the way she died was lowkey her becoming suicidal again. She was too smart to do something so stupid unintentionally :'( goes to show no matter how strong you are, keeping the will to live in such a cruel world can be difficult.

I blame the writers. Her death was totally for shock value. It’s a shame because Beth had so much potential and gave Daryl hope. They should have developed them together.

I feel like this is the start of one of TWD’s biggest flaws; killing off characters too often/early. They sent off way too many characters before it was their time (Beth, Tyreese, Jesus, Enid, Tara, Siddiq, Carl, etc.) This made the series unable to kill anyone else off until like the very end because s9-11 episodes just became Carol, Daryl, Carol, Daryl, Carol, Daryl, Negan, Eugene. They were unable to kill anyone else off or make any new good characters (aside from Connie ig) join the group. Beth should’ve made it at least until season 9 (dying on the pikes) or maybe through the whole thing. Beth was really the start of this. Out of all the character deaths, this made the least sense. Killing her off right before we’d see what happens to Noah a few episodes later?? She could’ve had a crazy dynamic with Judith growing up, become Alexandria’s doctor, etc. She was thrown away too early, especially after being developed so well. Ppl always complain about Glenn dying but his death had significance. It took Maggie’s character in a completely different direction, turning her into a full fledged leader (and mother), and Glenn had had a good 7 seasons of screen time. Beth had just found her footing as a character, barely three seasons of screen time, had a good arc near the end, then was butchered unceremoniously. And people like to argue “oh it’s death it’s random, unfair or wtv” yeah, that’s true, but usually these should hold weight, or significance (Merle, Dale, Lori, Shane, Glenn, Abraham.) for Glenn and Abraham, their deaths changed the characters closest to them (For Glenn, Rick, Daryl and Maggie and for Abraham, Sasha, Rosita and for some reason they barely touched on Eugene??) Sasha had one of the coolest deaths in the show. It turned the tides of the negan conflict and was a good sendoff. Beth was just butchered unceremoniously at a time that made no sense as she could’ve had a cool ass character arc for at least a few seasons. but that’s just me :D

They did Beth real dirty at the end! She may not have been really liked but she was really starting to change like she wished (for the better). Then she gets hit with a death so bad it was practically cartoony! Then to top it all off, the person she essentially sacrificed herself for (Noah) dies 6-8 episodes so gruesomely! What a fail by "The Walking Dead"!
