The thing about the Flame Rider is that it is almost good. It has very similair stats to Teddy Buggy/Cat Cruiser/Comet/Yoshi Bike, except it has lower miniturbo with very similar speed stats. But it has a suboptimal MT+Speed combo, so there is no reason to use it, and it wouldn't get buffed because it shares stats with Wild Wiggler. Funky Kong on Teddy Buggy is a perfectly good combo. Good speed for bagging but enough miniturbo to frontrun for a bit. This combo is alright because it's close to that, but it's clearly worse.

When I first got the game a few months ago, I started with Dry Bowser because it seemed like a fun character. Even offline, it feels clunky. Most courses are designed with MT in head front and center. I still use it when I play with the kids, on Badwagon with Monster Tires and Waddle Wing. It is bad, and I can barely see the road, but I don't really care in this case.

The Flame Rider is my third favorite vehicle in MK8DX. My favorite is the Teddy Buggy, and my second favorite is the City Tripper.

I used the Tripper for so long with Rosalina. Recently switched to Varmint, as the Tripper sound started to bother me. Trying another combo for fun at the moment Male Villager on Streetle Leaf Paper, aka the Animal Crossing combo ^^ (Tripper would probably be better stats wise, including smaller hit box, but again, the sound)

If you ask me, I think Comet + Monster Tires is a closer equivalent to the Flame Runner than the Flame Rider. It's inside drift, not too far off in color, and even has the same back exhaust shape. It's also very difficult to win with, so if you want a tougher challenge, feel free to take it on!

That's so true. I really like inside drift and the Comet, and despite not being meta (although it has same stats as Teddy Buggy, it can't do super bounce or realignment), I love the feeling and I think I'm not hit by items that often. Going from Scootie to Varmint (or Tripper, same stats), you'll feel the drop in MT. Still truly viable, with some adjustments to your lines. After playing with Rosalina Tripper Roller Paper for months now, I'm trying Male Villager. Stats are close to Luigi, and I can see why you like him. I'm having fun with Streetle Leaf Paper. Varmint/Tripper would probably be better, but eh, I'll come to that eventually ^^ Have fun with Luigi !

Backing your items at the line scummy because it very often does absolutely nothing for you it just ruins someone elses race the only time it is worth it is if there is a big shortcut at the end of a race and you want to secure your position but most big shortcuts at the end of races are still typically pretty far back from the line so this is relevant for one maybe more track and the for sure one is ribbon road

Hey, quick question: are you satisfied with the Inkstriker? I've played for a month with City Tripper, but the sound started annoying me, so I'm looking at alternatives. There's obviously the Varmint with the same stats. I'm looking for other alternatives ^^ Also trying Villager Streetle Leaf Paper at the moment. Just for fun at first, then looked at the stats and it seems pretty decent.

@@MrT3aI’m no expert, but here’s how I see it. If you’re coming off of the City Tripper, there are a couple things to note. First, you lose a little bit of mini-turbo. You do gain the same amount of stat points back in speed, which may be worth it if you want to be just a bit faster than the Yoshi Teddys. The mini-turbo isn’t drastically different from City Tripper, so it won’t be too terrible to get used to. I would say acceleration is the most drastically different stat. Coming off of the City Tripper, the acceleration is quite a bit lower. You’re going to want to save your mushrooms if you can’t get any protection, since you’ll take longer to get back up to speed. Granted, acceleration isn’t as important as speed and especially mini-turbo, but if you like having a good acceleration stat then the Inkstriker is probably not for you. Handling also takes a hit, and while handling is probably the least important stat, it is something you have to get used to when switching vehicles. Overall, if you can handle low acceleration, the Inkstriker is great if you want a more speed-based combo. It has the highest anti-gravity speed stat in the game, and its water and air speed stats are pretty good too. Item play will need to become a priority, as getting hit will be more penalizing due to the lower acceleration. I like using Luigi Inkstriker because being just that little bit faster than the Yoshi Teddys is great if I find myself in the back needing to use speed items, but the mini-turbo isn’t so low that I’m struggling to even play the game once I make it back to the front (if you recall, TWD98 said that Funky Kong’s low mini-turbo has caused him to not get the charge level he wanted). A final bonus is that Inkstriker can wall-dodge. It, along with the Wild Wiggler, is one of only two non-bike vehicles that are able to do so. While that is a high level strategy, that may be something worth noting.

To be honest, most of the random green hits hit you in such a way that no matter what character you used, you were gonna get hit. The difference in hit boxes is very, very small. Hitbox is overrated, imo. (NeoBowser City race makes the point)
