Coming into this my goal was just to qualify, and whatever happened in the invitational I’d be happy with. Did NOT expect to reach the top half and make it quite far into it. I’m quite proud of that against so many insanely good competitors. Thanks to everyone who cheered us on! Shame I wasn’t free for the FFA afterwards but I’m satisfied, thanks again for hosting these.

Matutino is crazy good at this game. He’s won both speed based knockout tournaments and had the most vehicles for both. With all his achievements I find it really funny how the one thing he struggles with is Item Rain.

Matutino is always at the top of these events and I’d even go as far as to say he’s at the same skill level as Troy is if not better when it comes to competitive. Its unfortunate for him that he didn’t get the gold trophy back in the Item Rain tournament. However, I think that regular 200cc or 400cc is more about technical skill, shortcuts, and out-maneuvering opponents, but Item Rain is a completely different beast. It’s about being observant of your field for the power items and trying to dodge as many hazards as you possibly can. Although I’m somebody who hasn’t played MKWii in years, basically hypothesizing.

spoiler: quick note for everyone, here is how many things had to go wrong for Troy to lose when he did - empex’s bill had to drop him right off the edge in 1st - i had to pull shroom in 2nd/9 (very low odds) - shock had to happen at a certain point - Troy had to get passed at the worst possible time - police had to go on the ramp costing him a spot so yeah troy got really unlucky with that, if any one of those things doesn’t happen i am eliminated and he moves on
