Sweet Jesus! This is genius! It really works! I did this to my $12 Clark Celtic Whistle and it improved the sound, like 300%! It's my new favorite whistle! THANK YOU!!!

I'm so thrilled to hear it! At the time I didn't have the cash for an expensive whistle, but now that I have a couple of those too I still find the Generation with the tweaks is my favourite. The session whistles are much louder, so I do use those for performances, but for recordings and practicing for my own enjoyment, I come back to the Generation every time. :)

Wow I can’t wait to try it. My Walton’s D I’m learning on has an extremely harsh upper register and I had been thinking I must’ve been blowing it wrong but I tried on a Clarke sweet tone and it came out so much smoother. I hope this fixes my Waltons

Wow you are right. That does sound much more clear and less "sharp/edgy/course/ hoarse" well done! Thank you for sharing 😊

Oh no, I’ve just bought 2 Killarney whistles and wild Irish whistle. If only I’d watched your very clever video first. Nice playing bye the way.

I wonder if a coat of nail varnish would work as well to smooth out the ramp.
@Stevewatson311 ай бұрын
U ever try that?
@ubizmo11 ай бұрын
I have, yes. It helps, but you have to brush it on carefully. Anyway, if you get it wrong you can wipe it off with nail polish remover and try again.
@Grimmwoldds4 ай бұрын
@@ubizmo Be careful with that. If you use an acetone based nail polish remover and that fipple is ABS... well, acetone dissolves ABS.

Nice one, just starting out learning the D-Whistle but not wanna annoy the neighbours...can I use this blu-tack technique and still learn sufficiently??

Thanks for this! Is the red whistle a generation Eb whistle? I have one and the second octave sounds pretty rubbish so I'm going to try and tweak it with this method. Also whats the name of the jig you played at end? It sounds beautiful

All the whistles are in D but I did buy an Eb Generation and found it was terrible, so you might be having the same experience.

Can you tell me when you compare the Oak mouthpiece to the Generation mouth piece which do you feel is of a stronger construction? I find the Generation mouthpieces are prone to cracking along the seam.
@kimweidotcom2 жыл бұрын
I think about the same actually.

Is there anyone who sells tweaked mouthpieces? Or even better, mouthpieces that don't need to be tweaked.
@Grimmwoldds4 ай бұрын
Freeman tweaked whistles(most of the stuff on his tweaked whistle ebay store are generation whistles). He also posts youtube videos explaining what he does and why it works. As to ones that don't need to be tweaked, more expensive whistles. With cheap whistles, you're not paying anyone to smooth out/adjust your fipple, you're getting a minimally functional whistle.
