For those wondering which live version he’s playing- “You Need Me I don’t Need You Captured in the Live Room”. I started listening to that video since 2014 and I’m absolutely ecstatic to have found someone making a tutorial on it after all these years. Mad props to this guy for making this easy to learn and fulfilling my longtime curiosity on how the hell Ed plays this song.

@leetownsend5 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for your comment. Glad you found the video useful. To be honest, I have the opposite problem with the RC-30. I have the mic level on about a quarter and it's easy as loud as my main mic and the volume control is super sensitive. Maybe try a different mic, that could be the problem?

Thank you for nice and perfect tutorial! I have one question. How do you make bass drum so loud? I am trying to copy this song and other Ed’s songs with looper ,but I cannot make only bass drum louder. Drum sound become always quieter than normal guitar sound. Please help me!
@leetownsend6 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the kind words. I'm not sure if you're referring to the bass drum sound on the guitar or using the mic to beatbox. With regards to guitar, I have 2 pickups installed in mine which make my sound a lot bigger, particularly when I play live shows. The magnetic pickup you can see in the soundhole is the one which picks up the strings of the guitar and there's another under the bridge. It's this bridge pickup which mainly picks up the "bass drum" sound and as it has its own cable from the guitar, I'm able to control its volume separately from the rest of the guitar. If it's the beatbox sound you're trying to enhance... Well, I'm terrible at beatboxing so I can't really help. One thing I do tend to do is use a "BO" sound rather than a "BU" sound. I don't know if that will help but it's worth throwing out there. Let me know if you need anything else.
@masat21616 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I was talking about drum sound from guitar. So I need to install another pickup... which pickup is best to make bass drum sound like Ed make? I found out that Ed’s model guitar has SONITONE pickup from fishman.
@leetownsend6 жыл бұрын
That's handy to know. What's the guitar you have? Does it have a pickup built in already?

@leetownsend5 жыл бұрын
I don't use any click tracks or drum tracks no. I've always been a bit of a purist and I'm not a fan of pre-recorded backing tracks
@TheZacdes5 жыл бұрын
@@leetownsend Fair enough Lee, but i dont consider a metronome like tick a backing track! Even a drum track can add to a composition, not to mention that Loopers are VERY demanding on timing. One can always simply turn down a metronome tick, or even a drum track before recording the final product. I can get away without any timing aids after playing for 40 plus years, but i still find them useful[read lazy,lol]:)
