I drove over to Orlando for Cirque. There was a super cool monent where Mute come up and sits next my brother, and I said hello, and let him know there is some support in the crowd (younger Floridians are a little wild). And I knew he came up to scout for his next match so I let him be, and then he talked our ear off (in a good way). “Yeah, Shadic is friend, we flew out together from Texas, and our matches go back and forth” and kept chatting. The Texas guys had a great kinship!

Dude I was not expecting that rundown on fox smashstick vs tiltstick. Thank you for going over that Charles and also saying which players use tilt and which use smash. I tried to do some research on the topic myself since I'm also a fox main and I also noticed Light using Z jump in a fox guide on youtube. Not sure if he actually uses that in tournament but It's another control option that might be useful.

​@@Zvn1c With limit, it's better than a lot of characters, without it you at least have stalling mixups and the threat of trading stocks with up b. It's not traveling an on paper distance as far as say Villager, but you'll see Villager getting edge guarded way more often, same goes for if you have a hitbox on it like K. Rool. Cloud's recovery is abysmal in certain aspects and situations, but overall including limit, I would say it averages out to slightly below average. It gets exploited at top level, but not nearly as much as people predicted it would by this point in the game's lifespan. Even then it is usually Sonic that is doing it, and that character has some of the best edgeguarding in the gane regardless of what character it is. The gates of hell robbery was hilarious though. As for people getting gimped online or at locals, that is why things like tier lists exist. Rankings in tier lists as well as ranking something like recoveries should be based upon the tippity top level of play, and in that regard, Cloud is doing fine making it back. Not going as far as to say it is even an average recovery, but how bad it is, is overexaggerated.

If you consider the only the tippity top players, then yeah Cloud's recovery isn't that bad because Sparg0 is the only representative. Question is, is where you're looking. Basically it's only Sparg0 shaping our opinion of Cloud's recovery, if he starts losing again as he did in 2023 (which I hope he doesn't, love Sparg0) people will start considering Cloud's recovery as bad again imo cause players will learn how to abuse it more again

For those interested in talking about Tweek getting a secondary to avoid getting canned by double Steve, let me just nominate *Cloud* again. The Cloud gameplan against Steve isn't exactly easy, but it's straightforward, and if Tweek relies on his talent and general skill at the game, I believe he can do it. Also, Tweek was one of the original Cloud innovators in Smash 4, so he has "dibs" he can claim on the character in Ultimate, who is maybe not top 5 but still very, very solid. As Tweek, I would also use Cloud against Wario, and maybe one or two others. And then the rest Diddy. Call me crazy, but I honestly think that if Tweek locks into something like this, he'll be much harder to knock out of bracket.

Sadly he doesn’t like how cloud plays in ultimate so I doubt he’d stick out long enough to make the cloud work... diddy is for sure not the answer though, he’s gonna have to hit the drawing board after this tourney

He tried Cloud in the past and can't really get over the differences from sm4sh unfortunately. I hope to see him be able to pick him up despite that, perhaps only practice it vs Steve as Sparg0 does with Corrin vs Sonic, I think he still probably has room to beat the matchup with Diddy but it's not going to be easy, he'll probably need to really grind the matchup which can lead to burnout for him maybe as he hates fighting Steve. I hope he finds a way to get through it, with a counter pick character or Diddy.

Honestly if ur a tweek fan this just needed to happen tweek needs to become really good at the Steve matchup. I don’t think losing to acola the best player in the world would make it sink in as much as losing to 2 American Steve’s 3-0 back to back that he needs to work on that matchup. Although it does look really tough with diddy idk but he just needs to make it a priority to figure out what to do about Steve.

I don't think Steve will be banned unanimously anytime soon, and he definitely struggles with the match up. He has to learn it, or find some character to deal with it (cloud secondary? :^]), or else his brackets will rely way too much on luck.

I think he’s really gotta be confident he’s doing all he can with diddy before trying a different character because he’s said he just can’t click with cloud in this game and idk another character that he would play that is good vs Steve. I feel like solo maining is the answer for tweek right now as there were so many times last year where he just wasn’t confident in who to go and it was holding him back. Ultimate is just hard bracket luck is a huge part of the game unfortunately but I think lights attitude of being confident he can do it vs even really hard matchups is the way to go

57:00 You can also do a no delay running up tilt or running reverse up tilt consistently, which you can use to tech chase or if your opponent misses a tech out of F-tilt or Bair you can use it as an option since the turn around pivot carries your groind momentum it covers a better distance than just going for jab locm. Sparg0 already does the running reverse up tilt to catch people teching with Cloud, who is slower and has a much worse up tilt. You can also do extended dash dance with the dash walk input, which makes Fox look like he's ice skating. Overall tilt stick is objectively better on Fox, it is just an execution issue if you can't consitently smash attack with A and Up. I understand wanting consistency and using smash stick because of it, but being inconsistent with doing A + direction smash attacks is something that can be practiced. On the other hand, you get locked out of too many good things on Fox if you play on Smash stick. Light is obviously the best Fox, but if he got consistent on tilt stick, it would be wraps, since you literally lose options by not using it.

I picked up Fox a couple months ago and hearing Charles talk about smash stick vs tilt stick was greatly appreciated. I do tilt stick. Dash attack cancel bair, buffered dash attack, imo it's slightly better than smash stick. I got too sick of accidentally f-smashing. I do struggle with smash attack out of shield though. For some reason it's just super unintuitive to do up smash out of shield without smash stick.

One thing about best region vs best player: You can be th best player of the best region, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're the best. Other regions on AVERAGE could be weaker, but the best players from those regions can still be better than the best players of the best region if that makes sense.

Honestly I’m fine with 1 main stream with commentary, and a quad stream with no commentary. I get quad stream commentary is extremely demanding and don’t expect it to happen. Obviously if it isn’t possible then it isn’t possible. But to me that’s the best case scenario.

I would say tilt/smash stick is 50/50 for Steve because of walking tilts while holding the A button. Also any character with a fast walk speed might get some type of advantage from smash stick. Also WHAT moves does your character get benefits for pivot canceling? WHY? And how important is that not only to you but to your character.

My favorite sets were Lima vs. Shadic and Shadic vs. Kola. I was so worried for Shadic because Lima beats him FREQUENTLY. Seeing Shadic overcome that and take the win despite playing on the back foot in game 5 was insane. He won ONE neutral interaction and then the pin at the end?!?! Siiiiick! Kola vs. Shadic was insane. Kola was up 2-0 and it seemed like he was going to win convincingly, but then Shadic adapted like crazy and brought it back with a reverse 3-0. That set really proved the consistency of Shadic and Corrin. Kola had some amazing stocks, too. Those Double-Edged Dance attacks were insane. Shadic could eventually beat Sparg0 but he needs to grind the MU hard. He has never fought a Cloud at that level. Corrin is fine against Cloud, but Sparg0 had the knowledge boost.
