thanks for posting this vid! i had a cyl 4 misfire code, and replaced the igniton coil after watching your video, now my santa fe purrs again!!! i do wish that you would have talked a tiny bit about how/where to apply die electric grease, as my wire had none on it.

I have a problem with Hyundai santa fe 2004.petrol engine cylinder...I change 2 new coil pack but when key is on ignition,my battery already heated up in 2 to seconds and when crank,my coil pack will spark and pop out and burn....I wonder what was the problem here?

I'm having trouble finding replacement connectors that connect to the ignition coil..not spark plugs the other connection..don't need an entire harness just the wires connecting the ignition coil to the injectors

My 2007 is having problems, my mechanic has replaced the coils, the computer and replaced the spark plug wires and it still having the same problems. It will barely go when you try to push the gas from a turn or stop it will almost shut off and the whole car shakes and it sounds like a old truck. Can somebody please help. Thanks

Did he replace the coils with AC Delco or OEM? We have run into issues with new coils that are of select brands. Do you be chance have a CEL illuminated?

@@kortneymoore3678 yes it could be the Crankshaft sensor or even the knock sensor. The crankshaft sensors are known to no throw a check engine light code.

@@kortneymoore3678 it may be worth getting a second opinion to figure out what the issue could be. Many part shops will scan the vehicle at no cost. But not all scanners can pick up just any engine code.

I have been trying to find that connected peice that’s sticking out of the hose .. for my car yours look exactly like mine ... do you know what that connected wire that connectes to that hose is called I have been trying to find out for 2 weeks after some one cut mine accidentally thinking it was a ground now my car won’t start

TweekerDan1984 it’s the extra wire that comes out of the hose that’s between the spark plugs wires and ignition coil. The wire has a female and male connector attached to it

It’s the hose that has the brown tape wrapped around it and then in the middle of it there is wire that’s connected right in the middle

In the description you said you never had a CEL, but in the video you said your code was for cylinder 1. Did it FINALLY throw a code? In the vid you changed the one pack, but I guess you changed both, right? Same process so I guess you only showed the one.

Sorry for the confusion, about a year prior to me replacing the coil pack I had a misfire code which I coincidentally happened to capture a photo of while on my scanner. I didn’t think anything of the code Since the vehicle was running and driving completely normal at that time. So I erased the code to see if it would come back. The code never came but within a couple months my car started running rough. Surprisingly no codes were being triggered and after I ran out of ideas I decided to look into this original code. Once I researched the code I replace the coil pack and it corrected the issue. I did not replace both of them right away but about a month later I replaced the second coil pack as preventative maintenance. I do recommend using AC Delco Parts for this, many people have had issues with cheaper aftermarket parts. I hope this is helpful. 👍

Hopefully you just have bad wires then. Try the test in the video and if they arc then you have your self a quick fix. If they don’t then you may want to do a tune up or replace the coil feeding the number two cylinder.

If I need to replace wires what do I need to look up. All I know is 4 spark plugs new distributor wires 2 coil packs and what else is needed. Is that only wires ??

I have 02 santa fe 2.7L V6 It sounds terrible and shakes a lot and exhaust smells like gas. The mechanic checked the computer and he said it misfires in 2,3 then 4,6 and so on randomly so he couldn't fix it. It has new spark plugs. Does it have the same coils like your 4 cylinder?

The coil packs are a bit different for that engine. If you locate and follow your ignition wires you can find the coils. I would recommend checking these items before jumping to the coils. Also below is a link to run a quick test. 1. Make sure ignition wires are routed correctly. 2. It is very likely that this is your issue, it is a very common for these coils to fail.

What motor do you have? Also it is possible that you may have a faulty plug and wire. I would start with those two items. If you have not replaced them before and have no record of replacing them. It may not be a bad idea to replace all of the wires and the spark plugs. If once that is done you still have an issue then I would look into replacing coil packs.

TweekerDan1984 I have had a gas smell before the misfire. It came from trying to fix the fluxuating gas needle when I opened the fuel tank under the seat and could not close it properly when I replaced the sensor. The engine runs smooth. Im sure the firing order is correct but the gas mileage is atrocious.

It is hard to say if the engine is running smooth but I would double check the firing order and make sure the wires and plugs are secure, also I would inspect for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold. Is there a service or check engine light on?

Possibly, I can try and point you in the right direction. Have you received a check engine light? If so what codes have you pulled?

Well first I would try adding premium fuel with injection/injector cleaner. (Recommend Chevron from costco) have you done a tune up meaning, spark plugs and all ignition wires? The spark plugs for these vehicles are iridium and cost a fortune.
