They've been building the story for around 10 years and we've not been in the dark. They gave us cryptic puzzles, codes to crack, a website with documents from Clancy, symbols, maps, plus interviews and the Livestream in 2021 gave info, and of course the lyrics and videos all added to the story. The fans as a collective have been working on this for years, deciphering it all and putting the pieces together and considering how intricate it is, we did damn well! I Am Clancy confirmed what those fans who are into the Lore knew and also acts as an intro to the story for the casual fans and those not into the storyline. Nathan seems like he might be interested in the Lore side of things so I would be happy to provide links for all this or of course your favourite goth can do so as well. The depth of it will blow your mind.

the first single is "Overcompensate" and was released a couple weeks ago - one week after this teaser/recap video they have the second single releasing next week called "Next Semester" This video has parts of 6 music videos in it - not sure if you've seen them all but all those scenes were part of actual music videos, Tyler just tied it all together

This lore has been going on for a decade and through multiple albums. This next album that drops in May will be the the conclusion to the lore. It won't be Twenty One Pilots' last album, just the last of this lore. The fans have been figuring out the lore through the years from the music, the symbols, interviews, and hints given/leaked to the fans from the band themselves. It is brilliant. For some, this video was just a reminder and clarification of what has been figured out already. For others, it fills in gaps of the lore or explains a lot for newcomers. Every song can stand alone, every album can stand alone, but put it all together and it is epic!

The fans have not been in the dark, because for the past decade, twenty one pilots has left clues and hidden messages throughout all of their videos and secret websites, social media posts, and so on. This video is for the common radio fan

It was great to finally get some confirmation...they are always so cryptic, so it was awesome to get something straightforward ❤ I love how they used the Scaled and Icy album...from the beginning there was a secret message saying SAI is propaganda, so they really built the story into it in a cool way, while they took a little detour around covid time
@nicholassgroi46108 ай бұрын
The entire Scaled and Icy album was "entertaining the masses". Much of this and everything in this video was known to the clique...you can watch the (main lore) videos in order if youd like: heavydirtysoul, jumpsuit, nico and the niners, levitate, shy away (I include this), choker (I include this), saturday, the outside

if you check out the cover of their self-titled debut album, you can see that DEMA has always been in his mind...literally.

*Long explanation comment ahead:* As people have said, this story has been a thing for many years fans have not at all been in the dark lol This video, the explanation is only a surface-level explanation to help set things straight for those fans who are a bit more confused, for new fans, and for those who simply do not care enough about the fictional story to learn(which is fine). But it's the first straightforward explanation we have ever gotten from Tyler who loves to skirt around it in interviews😅 The only times we got somewhat straight answers were when fans asked in a fan-setting situation, but even then Tyler would be pretty vague about it. So this video was a huge deal for those fans who love the storyline. -The story itself is Tyler's psyche made into characters, his mind into a world. Which is why the "cycle" is emphasized. Mental health is often a constant battle of a cycle to get better. Often "re-captured" by depression or bad thoughts brought by anxiety and things like that. Violism(the hijacked religion) is self-destructive tendencies, and the nine Bishops are the insecurities. Blurryface/Nico/Nicolas Bourbaki is the leader and one of the niners. Blurryface is Tyler making his insecurities into a character. And within the story, Nico is Clancy's Bishop. Someone who is familiar and feels safe/constant, but is ultimately bad because he wants Clancy to stay in Dema(the grey city which also represents a bad headspace). And commit to Violism(the self-destructive tendencies/religion). -Trench is outside of Dema, a new and unsteady place(trying to self-improve). You have to travel to Trench if you want to leave Dema/get better. But it's hard and you will often get captured again and again by one of the nine bishops/insecurities/bad thoughts. Trench is the middle place, not the end. You/Tyler/Clany are trying to stay in Trench to keep out of Dema. But it's not the end goal. The album Trench ends with the song "Leave the City", which is a pretty open-ended song. -Scaled And Icy(SAI for short) was a propaganda album. It's a more lighthearted album because they didn't want to release another angsty album during Covid, but it does fit perfectly within the storyline. If you re-arrange the letters of "Scaled and Icy", you can spell out "clancy is dead". If you start with the last song on SAI, “Redecorate”, he’s singing “I don’t want to leave like this.” A continuation from "Leave the city". Redecorate is also the closest sound to the Trench sound. In fact, listen to SAI song list in reverse; Good Day will be the closing song. If you listen to the lyrics, Good Day is just a song about denial. It's someone trying to convince themself everything is good while their life is falling apart. The leave / come back cycle is ongoing still, and Clancy is in Dema helping spread the propaganda against his will. -Twenty One Pilots did a live stream during covid(it was amazing, and I am not just saying this as a fan. The production was incredible), and this was printed on the promotional flyers: Scaled and Icy and Twenty Pne Pilots - Livestream Experience is presented in association with DMA ORG and Good Day Dema. The views and opinions expressed in this program are those of The Sacred Municipality of Dema and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the artist. Any content provided during this filmed performance event is property of DMA ORG. -Fun fact: The Dragon on the cover of SAI and you can see in some of the music videos is not a bad guy. His name is Trash lol ✨Trash the Dragon.✨ Tyler said the inspiration to create Trash was his little dragon totem figurine present in his home studio, which he occasionally stared at in between his creative processes. Tyler said during an interview: "I have this theory that, even if you're confined to one small room, if you were to focus on one singular detail of that room, that detail can then come to life." Which is more or less the whole Twenty One Pilots plotline explained in one sentence. But instead of the dragon totem, it's giving life to his own psyche. Creating a whole detailed world and characters out of it.

how long have they planned it? Roughly 9 years. It started with a letter by Clancy on a website mentioning it took 9 years. And well, Blurryface album came out 9 years ago on may 17th. The day the new album comes out

no we haven't been in the dark -- we've had an overwhelming amount of information for 6 to if you stretch it 9 years. the problem for explaining it is like the uselessness of the perfect map -- a perfect map would be exactly the size of the land it described, and thus perfect useless. @corporategoth might disagree with me but i think any diehard fan would tell you they simplified things for I Am Clancy -- quite handily, no objections here -- but i would hate to leave you with the impression that this information was more than just in small part new.
