100% I started feeling that way, slightly, as I went through the album. Then I landed on oldies station and was stunned into silence. I was in the car with partner after telling him all I’m going through and how I’m actually doing, and oldies station really just described my entire situation perfectly. Everyone is talking about the Car Radio references, but I can't stop thinking about the fact that he's talking about the beginning of the Clancy story overall. He's talking about how he's running from something that he kicked in '17, which was the year Trench was being written. Also, in the first pre chorus, he says, "It's a blackside, I commandeered a ride, drove it 'til the engine died. All of that progress lost today." which makes me think back to Heavydritysould and Jumpsuit, the "hot ride" being from heavydirtysoul, and "All of that progress lost today" when Tyler gets recaptured and taking back to Dema. I genuinely might be reading into this wrong, but this is what this song feels like to me, not a reference to Car Radio, but a reference the the very start of Clancy's story.

time to pour my heart out. i’ve been struggling with substance abuse for the past couple years, constantly swinging back and forth between cleaning myself up and falling off the wagon. it’s a vicious and unforgiving cycle. this song, and vignette too, hits painfully close to home for me because of this. it makes me think… growing up and maturing with twenty one pilots has been so surreal, because if clancy had been released when i was a younger fan, it likely wouldn’t have resonated as hard as it does right now. tyler just knows when to write these songs, and who to put them out for. the timing is always right for me. i’ve been following them for over a decade, and their songs are undoubtedly a part of my life. sobriety is so hard it feels impossible, but i can’t let the little girl who found this duo die. i can’t lose this music, not after losing so much of myself. i hope to still be here for the next phase of their journey, as well as mine - and the next phase, and the next phase. goodnight

Something that is always going to bring me back to this song (and music video) is Tyler’s dancing. As soon as I saw it hit so hard because I keep being reminded that the things that he sings about are the things that I’m currently experiencing. one of the ways that I deal with the uncontrollable storm in my mind is to let my body move in any way that it can to express that emotion. This song and video is the most relaxing song on Clancy. Despite his relapse, he continues towards the light. The mood of the song musically is so chill despite the intensity of the lyrics. It is real. Tyler's authenticity both lyrically and as a person in general is what keeps me hooked to this band. The same for Josh. Even though he doesn't write the lyrics, his genuine warmhearted disposition is something you don't see much in people generally, nonetheless in celebrities. Snap back is definitely in the top three on this album for me.

This song came at such a perfect time for me. When it came in my first album listen I was uncontrollably sobbing and felt once again, fully seen and understood in a completely new stage in my life. This album has been healing, always appreciative of this music and group who’ve time and time again reminded me of my capability, and shown me motivation.

This album came at the perfect time for me. I’m sober, but after so many changes (new home and new job) I felt like I was about to snap back. I can’t wrap my fingers around why I never understood all the references they used to addiction all this time, maybe it’s cause I wasn’t looking for it. Stay alive y’all.

This song means so much to me. It may end up my favorite on the album. I know Tyler said he would probably be the most defensive over this song. I relate so much to the lyrics, they make me so emotional. “It’s been 25 times, and it’s a backslideeee” hit so different.” Can’t forget “I have seem to run out of excuses for why I am this way.” I’m thankful for what I have overcome in mental health and I pray you all do the same. I love you all, stay alive. ❤

I’m going to be honest. I think this album is going to get the Gorillaz Plastic Beach treatment. I don’t think it’ll get the flowers it deserves until a couple of years when people see how incredibly well the songs age.

Agreed. My first few listens of Clancy I was like this is good but not up to their standards...this isn't on the level of Trench or Vessel. A month later I'm obsessed and completely convinced that this is my favorite Twenty One Pilots album. Incredible. Every single song keeps growing on me.

i've sit in silence to hear him talk, yet it felt like i was letting my whole heart and soul out. i've been struggling with the many faces of addiction for more than 4 years now and only those who actually relate to the feeling of guilt, selfishness, lack of love and any kind of emotion at all, replaced for the will to use, will know what means to relapse, to start over and over, to fall down and to get up again. the healing isn't always instant about a heal, but to get to know you again - what gracious it is. thank you 21 pilots.

PLEASE DO show him/her the video or play the song for him! Sometimes it is very hard to explain in words what one can in music, lyrics and art... tell him or her as well why this resonates with you or TOP in general... there us a key you both can find together in the experience... the key that will open up another level for you, one that will allow you to grow, heal and progress on your journey with a smile on your face. This music is medicine for many of us, young and old.... have faith that you are going to be alright and probably better than even alright. Good luck. Enjoy!
