Interesting mechanic for a game idea: victory point based conquest, like TI, but where certain locations let you trade their victory points to other players. So basically a situation where "while A has control over key location 1, player B has a victory point." So if A loses that key location, B also loses a victory point.

Cause the weighting on the wall is saying he will have 2 planets left with one infantry unit on it with no space dock. Assuming that everyone dose what they planed. what you really want to do with the saar is to rush chaos mapping jump into a asteroid system and just build as many shipyards as possible at that point you are nearly impossible to defeat from a purely military standpoint as nobody can attack your shipyards and you can just build an insane number of ships per turn. its fun...... but truly broken.

Starting at 46:08, Regarding "Watershed" - the American term is "Safe Harbor," technically. Except it's backwards from what you're thinking. Safe harbor is any time before 10pm and after 6am - at least, on over-the-air (OTA) TV. Complicating matters is the number of time zones - so something that airs at 10 Eastern might air before safe harbor ends in Central, since they're usually simulcast Eastern/Central and Mountain/Pacific That means that anything with objectionable content must air after 10pm Central, or there'll be fines. Same thing for Mountain/Pacific. I'm not sure what happens with Alaska/Hawaii - when I lived in Alaska, we didn't get any OTA programming at all, so I have no idea when things are broadcast there. Of course, this is all up in the air, since the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is being extremely lax in defining their terms, and the broadcasters are focusing more on cable/on-demand than OTA content, anyway. The Safe Harbor restrictions only apply to OTA broadcasts, which makes things super ambiguous.

Recently I played TI for the first time, playing Arborec. Move->Produce all the way. I can't begin to think how other races can produce anything, limited to their stationary space docks. I never even used my flagship's production ability, because it's too inconvenient compared to the Letani. If I play again and pick a different race, one thing I fear the most is having to rely on standard space-docks... they're just so... inconvenient.

Tennouseijin haha, that’s the problem. Usually, new players are discouraged from playing races like Arborec. While they say it’s because they’re too complex, I think it’s because it ruins you for other races lol.

47:12 - No, no he can't. That system is activated by the token under the dreadnaught, so he isn't actually supposed to be moving anything out of there. This is why I keep telling players to put tokens on top of unit figures, so they don't get buried and missed later. Oh well... not like it will put him in a better position to win the game, right?

52:05 Quins: "[...] then everybody else can spend a token to use production in your home system" Efka, the player with the least ships and most in danger of belligerent neighbors and in dire need of more ships: "I will not do that." So, I've only played 3rd edition and it's been a while. But is there something I'm missing as to why Efka chose not to produce when he could? I mean in his most recent ~secret living room chat~ he mentioned being worried about being spread to thin. It seems to me like this is exactly what he needed, an opportunity to build some more ships to ward off Matt from Mecatol Rex, or at least secure his border with Elaine. So why didn't he? Was that a bad play or am I missing something obvious?

You only have a small supply of tokens in the strategy pool (usually 2-4), there are 3 players with 2 strategy cards that you may need them for the secondary. Sometimes you need to make hard choices. He can still use a tactics token to activate the system and produce then.

Yes possibly! I don't know if it was the best choice at the time, but I was just trying to help understand some of the considerations he had to take into account. His home system also had some units on it, meaning he can't produce very much up till fleet supply. He did spread out quite a lot and didn't strike back immediately to retake the resources, that lost him a lot in this part 2.

Strategy/rules question here from a non-player: Matt's units that could shoot adjacent hexes seemed much more powerful than anything else. Why didn't everyone attack that hex to get rid of them?

It's only one PDS(upgraded). It is annoying and need to be a bit careful around it, but attacking a system just to destroy that is very costly. In our games there will be many more pds/2 around the galaxy, and yes they do a reasonable amount of damage.

But then the others have not lost anything and will have an advantage over you. There is an ability (L1z1x has it) that allows you to take over any pds and space docks when you take a planet. Now that would be interesting.

Really enjoyed this but efka is so annoying with his passive aggressive sulking. You can't go about the game the way he has then sulk when people recognise you as a threat that needs to be delt with. All through this episode he was just saying "I'm the bad guy" "i get it I'm the bad guy". Then he switched to "I can't win now". He knows how to play the game, he's good at it. I don't mind people being competitive, I am myself but the sulking is a pet peeve of mine.
