@@Prince_the_One We got a small glimpse of Rosalie life before as a vampire. Jasper was in the civil war and with army of vampires as well. Alice was in a mental institution and doesn’t remember her past. We don’t know much about Emmett’s past and life as a vampire. Then you got Carlisle life as a vampire and becoming a doctor over the course of hundreds of years and his time with volturi. So yeah Edward killing bad people is a bit blah compared to the other characters’ backstory.

@SonAndHeir well, if the script is good or the actors are allowed to improvise now and again that can make a hell of a difference. Very bad example is the Star Wars Prequel "I don't like sand". The actors are really great, the script is quite trashy. Pattinson is an amazing actor with a great resume in his back. I'm just amazed that he was able to shovel his way out of this stereotype. I'm pretty sure Meyer had her "vision" for the movies and there wasn't much improvisation to go with it.

@Quessir
@Quessir 3 жыл бұрын
The funniest thing I've heard Rob Pattinson say about it is during the scene when Bella is being confronted by these guys in the city, and he tears in with his car and frightens them off. He said that Edward is supposed to give them this look of pure, atavistic rage, something that really frightens them... and he's there in his pea coat and white make-up, and what can he do? He was laughing the entire time he talked about it. It would've been much more effective if we hadn't seen his face at all, just their reactions. Catherine Hardwicke had very little budget to play around with but she did the best with what she had and there is a certain low budget and indie charm to it. The sequels were of course made with much more money and it shows.

The whole scene where Charlie has new tires put on the truck reminds me of something I read once. Basically when you talk to your dad and he asks how your car's running, that's his way of showing he loves you. Because men (the good ones) want to protect, and making sure your vehicle is safe is their way of making sure you're safe. And I think back to all the times my daddy asked how my car was running or made sure the oil was changed, tires were good, etc. and it makes me sniffly. He was big on saying "I love you" too, but yeah--there was not a single convo after I left home when he didn't ask how my car was driving. Dad code for "how's life." 🥰

Haha. WTH? Is there a whole underground movement of older guys watching younger girls sleep? Is there a convention in Vegas? Seriously, is this a thing with girls who grew up with the books and movies? I know the 50 Shades novels and movies are thought to be the contemporary starting point for young womens' expectations of finding a hot billionaire to give them kinky, yet sweetly protective sex and a car. You know, fantasy. But, it supposedly created unrealistic real world expectations. At least, that's the thought exercise.

@@Prince_the_One have you even read/watched New Moon? Where doesn't she want to give her life up for Edward is the better question. Sorry, but this relationship is unhealthy. And Jacob not grooming Renesmee? He plans to be her lover one day. Tell me, that this is not grooming, because it's the definition of that. Or what was his name... Quil? Embry? The one with the 2 year old? Honestly that disgusted me even as a teenager. "He has to wait a few years?" I was like "Say what now?" Damn, even Edward called Jacob at some point son. This is grooming. Being a constant in a child's life to influence them in a particular direction is grooming. For parents that is called parenting, but someone that plans a relationship and is about 17 or 18 years older? Think of it as if a teacher told himself "right now I'm just a teacher for that little child and right now I don't want anything more, but I plan to be in his/her life and be whatever they need me to, even as a lover at some point" and that teacher is about 20 years older. These movies were my life when I was a teenager. Looking back now, I know how ridiculous that was. But at the same time... I’m so protective of them. They really got me through high school. I made friends because of them. They made me happy at the time and I still have an insane amount of nostalgia for them. Don’t get me wrong, I know how bad they are. I know that Bella and Edward’s relationship wasn’t good. But I never looked at them as “couple goals” anyway. I think I latched onto these movies (and books) during a difficult time in my life and used them as escapism. It was easier to think about them instead of having to deal with real life if that makes sense. Which like, wasn’t healthy but I can’t change that now. But I’ll always view these movies through slightly rose-tinted glasses. Like I can see the flaws but I love them anyway. The thing about Twilight is that I was, for lack of a better word, obsessed with it for like... 4 years? I have insane knowledge of these movies and books. And it’s been a long time since I’ve watched them but I bet I could quote a majority of all 5 movies. Like watching this video I just found myself answering the questions you had out loud like I was being quizzed. It’s kind of crazy how much I still remember. Like in one of the movie commentaries Robert Pattinson actually made the “I’m Batman” joke which is kind of ironic. I moved on from this franchise a long time ago. But I’m excited to watch your reactions to the rest of the movies. The best thing by far to come out of this franchise were the soundtracks. I actually used to have the song from when Bella and Edward arrive at school together as my ringtone. So as well as everything else, these movies also introduced me to great music. Good luck with New Moon, I hope it’s not a spoiler to say it’s my least favourite of them all, book and movie wise.

FYI, there is a new-ish Twilight book told from the perspective of Edward. I borrowed it from my friend and read like 10 pages so far. My friend listened to the audiobook and she said a lot of it is Edward going emo like, "she hates me! Wait she doesn't? But I'm a vampire how could she possibly like me?" This is also how he describes Bella when first meeting her (and I'm copying directly from the book): "Somehow, this girl looked more fragile than her new classmates. Her skin was so translucent it was hard to believe it offered her much defense from the outside world. I could see the rhythmic pulse of blood through her vein under the clear, pale membrane... But I should not concentrate on that."

there’s also a cast movie commentary exclusive to the DVDS and Rob is so funny on them. I wish they had it online, I know there are clips but I haven’t been able to find the entire commentary anywhere 😩 he’s hilarious

The funny thing is, visually, Twilight looked so *real* 20 years ago. It seemed like the only teen movie that wasn't in saturated colour, the vivid yellow sunshine of California drenching the bright fashion clothes of several previous decades of movies.

Wait a minute, Bella is bleeding to death and Jasper is in the same room as her. Everyone manages to hold back their urges but just barely, and Jasper manages to stay in control? Even though one cut manages to make him go completely savage in the next movie?

Alice is with him & they are in the middle of killing James. In the next film they all are standing close to her & doing nothing but staring at the opportunity. Its about loss of control. When they take Jasper away where do everyone else go? Did they just need to get to the next room to get themselves together? A mile away? I would think it's closer than you would guess.

Charlie is the most awesome character! As to Robert Pattinson being in music, he actually has a song in this movie. If you go back to the scene where he and Bella are having dinner together, he is singing the song playing.

Keep an eye on bellas hair in the third instalment, 😉 there’s a v popular theory that they used jacobs wig from this movie on Bella in eclipse 😂. Tbh I think it’s true, her hair rlly do be fcked for the next few movies.

In the twilight official guide it says the brain stops development when you’re turned. That’s why in the last book they have that huge fight about immortal children because they’ll never mature past the age they were born. That’s not only a twilight thing either that’s in the vampire chronicles as well. They kill a little girl vampire for that exact reason

@@Prince_the_One if werewolves were written to be able to kill vampires, maybe there could be another class of humans that developed the abilities to kill vampires and have a sense for tracking them. Could be dope.

@@Prince_the_One yeah but they should also be able to kill werewolves in the blink of an eye too. There would have to be some OP bull about like a god giving a family the powers to hunt vampires and it being passed down over generations. A dangerous job and most of them dying out by the time Charlie comes around or something like that?

I don't know how I missed this when I saw your reaction to Easy A. But y'all didn't even catch the fact that James in this movie is also Amanda Bynes's boyfriend in Easy A, the 22 year old high schooler with chlamydia, lol.
