Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

I'm never someone who supports that a material can never be remade by someone else. However, after several attempts by other people at Twilight Zone, I'm convinced that no one can touch that series the way Rod Serling did. The closest thing we have now is Black Mirror which is a separate property.

Some of my favourite Twilight Zones in no particular order; Shadow Play, Mirror Image, A World of Difference, Still Valley, Spur of the Moment and Little Girl Lost. One of the things that made Serling's writing good in my opinion is that he made the characters in his episodes react like a lot of everyday people would react, despite being in the strange circumstances he put them in. This made the episodes more immersive for the viewer in my opinion.

This gentleman's memory is admirable knowing the names of several episodes and details of the show's history. Several if not all of the episodes created a short term effect likened to p.t.s.d. in such a powerful way that by the end of the episode the viewer was terrified, yet relieved and happy to return back to their boredom at home. That is how excellent the story ideas and writing was virtually sucking in its viewers into lockstep fantasy.

I was recently reading 'The Twilight Zone scripts of Earl Hamner' and I do agree that Serling and the contributing writers (including Earl, who is better known for creating The Waltons, my mom's favorite show) created an excellent program. I've only watched a handful of episodes unfortunately but working my way through the scripts I can get my hands on has been quite fun. All so far have been well written. Hoping to find some of Richard Matheson's scripts next.

Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up? If you think about it you can narrow it down to two suspects, but there's no way you can see the final twist coming. What I like about TZ (aside from the excellent writing) is how it shows mid 20th century America so honestly. They were not aware of themselves as a time capsule, so there was very little posing. Sometimes it was a set, but a lot of times it was showing actual streets and roads and neighborhoods and stores and bars and cars and clothing and culture and manners. I was born around the third season, so watching TZ I'm aware of what a time traveler I am.

When I was far too young to understand the themes on display in this show, I somehow still felt very connected to the stories in some kinda way. Like, "I don't know why, but this is important for me to take in," kinda way. I just loved everything about it from the moment I first laid eyes and ears on it. Years later in my 30s I now understand why I just enjoyed being in the room when the adults had it on. Subconscious me was getting it in well before I ever thought to take up the pen!
