"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone."

The Twilight Zone was more than just a science fiction show, it tackled questions of morality and horrors that anyone would be afraid of. In my opinion it is one of the best television series ever.

The soup story reminded me of the episode with Burgess Meredith, in which he's a bookworm, harassed by his shrew of a wife. The world is destroyed, except the local city library, and now he has all the time in the world to read all the books he wants. He stacks the books carefully in the order he'll read them. He reaches to put on his eyeglasses, but then... I'm 64, and I remember watching The Twilight Zone every week. Without being mean about it, you kids missed one of the great shows of television. It was a one of its kind, its own genre. The Outer Limits came close, but The Twilight Zone was the original.

+The Late Show... - Noting here that voice actor June Foray has passed away (July 2017). Foray voiced the role of Talky Tina - the doll in the 'Living Doll' episode of 'The Twilight Zone' (1959-1964). Foray discusses her work on 'The Twilight Zone' in this interview clip: 'June Foray discusses voicing Talky Tina on "The Twilight Zone" - Emmy TV Legends,' at +FoundationInterviews (@TelevisionAcad). Excerpt: 'I did not work with [showrunner/host, 'The Twilight Zone' (1959-1964)] Rod Serling, and I'm sorry I didn't. I was just in a sound booth, and the control room was someone who was a line reader. I felt so bad that I never met him. A lot of stars started with Rod Serling; [actor] Robert Redford [and others] - so many people had their first job [with Serling].' re: Actors in 'The Twilight Zone' who later became well-known for other roles - Telly Savalas, who co-stars in the 'Living Doll' episode of 'The Twilight Zone,' went on to become well-known as the lead character in 'Kojak' (1973-1978).
