Lanier, I have been wearing 24 Faubourg all week and was tickled when I saw you had a video review! It really is so good! I've got to say though I don't think it's *too* elegant. I've been wearing it everywhere, from important meetings at the office to my Sunday morning Starbucks run in my sweatpants! Turning heads everywhere I go, too!! :p

I loved this. I bought my niece Twilly for Christmas. She loves it. And I feel good about starting her fragrance journey with quality. 24 Faubourg has been on my will buy list for a while. I’m in Seattle this week and enjoyed an Hermès day at Nordstrom. The SAs were great, and one described 24 F as something Agnes Moorehead would wear. I told him the fact that I have a Pinterest page devoted to AM as Endora probably proved him right.

I'm extremely lucky to live near an orchard of blood oranges, grapefruits, and mandarins. A wealthy family built a huge home on the property and they don't harvest any of the citrus, so I'm alloud to pick as much as I want! Fresh squeezed blood orange and vodka is devine!

Great review again Lanier! I love 24 Faubourg. I have the EdP. So sophisticated. And btw I also love hyacinth. (Please review Givenchy III for some wonderful hyacinth).Twilly smelled a little strange on me unfortunately, but I do love the bottle.

Ohmylord! What a stunning scarf! You know me and horses (those bits on it!). SUCH FUN! (Have you seen the comedy of Miranda Hart, now discontinued, but hilarious?) That Twilly bottle is so wonderful looking. You pushed me over the edge when you talked about that Creed Royal Mayfair...I got near a Neiman's and smelled and ended up buying their Asian Green Tea and did a video on it, but gad, I need to get more class, but alas, I'm more of a Miranda. Thank you for another wonderful video! Hugs, Susan

Lanier, did you have tried Hermès' Kelly Calèche? It's one of my favorites fragrances, a luxurious olfactive version of a Kelly bag filled with roses and make up - specially in the EDP version. Very elegant like Grace Kelly ❤️ P.S: I'm SO curious about 24 Faubourg, because it was one of the favorite fragrances of Princess Diana! It seems gorgeous.

Welcome back from Albany, NY. I hope your aunt is well given the unkind East Coast weather we have been experiencing. You we greatly missed. Hermès and cocktails are a combination that I must try. By the way, your scarf is one of Hermès’ best designs.🧣 Lately there have been more misses than hits, including the ability to have scarves re-dyed. The post dye colors were atrocious. As for its fragrances, I have yet to find one to my liking. Such is life. I am glad that you enjoyed the second one. To good scents and delicious cocktails 🍸, cheers! 🥂

Welcome back to this gorgeous Saturday in the Best Part of North America, the Pacific Northwest! Yep, today was spectacular. Ahhh, Twilly... truly a genius fragrance in my eyes that, sadly, doesn't exactly work on me. I get, I kid you not, Speculoos cookies non my skin! Practically start to finish. A hint of ginger, a hint of sandalwood, maybe a tincture if some citrus, then digestive cookie gourmand. Not a bad smell, just not what I really want. Yet, two women I suggested to test this perfume went straight out and purchased full bottles. In one person all these wonderful white floral came out, with a bit of goirmandiness, on an other ginger and floral vanilla. Wow, truly a testament of the perfumer's skill, Twilly works so wonderfully differently on everyone. But your first impressions of 24 Faubourg sound really good. Will seek out a sample. Mahalos!
@laniersmith17986 жыл бұрын
I can see that cookie vibe... I did get a little of that in the sweet side of it (beyond the flower sweetness) Yes what a day it was and so welcome after my two Nor-easter storms last week and this week in New York! OY mama! Cheers Jon

Interesting! The 24 Faubourg is just a stunning bottle! I'm in the market for a nice casual "just lying there like it doesn't care" floral for spring. It's odd for me, because I don't really care for a lot of florals, because they tend to have a powdery note that doesn't agree with my chemistry. Perhaps it's my olfactory maturation, but they are really growing on me! I've been wearing Fracas, but for daytime, it doesn't quite fit somehow. I think I might need to brave the CHANEL boutique here in Dallas (my last visit was less than pleasant) to lay my nose on Gardenia. Anything else you might suggest to try? xoxo

Lovely! 24 Faubourg contains ambergris (grey amber ) so it indeed has an animal note. I think that's what you were smelling. It is a gorgeous fragrance! Thankyou.

I miss you Lanier! I actually have a push and pull feeling whether to get me a twilly or not because the dry down smells like a shampoo on me. And I realized I don’t have much leathery, woody scents let alone I have acquired 35 perfumes now.

Maybe put off Twilly and go for the leather. I adore leather perfumes especially in the last gasp of winter. Salute Madame et merci.

Had oranges for breakfast myself! It's an orange vibe day. What was the open book at 1:50? -- a Bible or play? The Great Books series has that kind of page format with the 2 columns, references in a/b/c/d according to quadrant of the page, helps to find a reference faster. I always liked that idea. I haven't found Twilly to sniff it yet. I recall vintage 24 Faubourg edp was beautiful but too much for me, too sophisticated, too formal, too strong. It has been reformulated to be lighter so maybe I should revisit it, and in the edt concentration. P.S. Your new home is so lovely!
@laniersmith17986 жыл бұрын
It is an Orange day for sure. The book on the table is my copy of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. I have had it since I was 16 years old and it is a beloved treasure. On the page that it is open to once can read this. "The barge she sat in, like a burnish'd throne, Burn'd on the water: the poop was beaten gold; Purple the sails, and so perfumed that The winds were love-sick with them; the oars were silver, Which to the tune of flutes kept stroke, and made The water which they beat to follow faster, As amorous of their strokes. For her own person, It beggar'd all description: she did lie In her pavilion--cloth-of-gold of tissue-- O'er-picturing that Venus where we see The fancy outwork nature: on each side her Stood pretty dimpled boys, like smiling Cupids, With divers-colour'd fans, whose wind did seem To glow the delicate cheeks which they did cool, And what they undid did."

Wow -- amazing writing! If I were to scent The Bard, I'd go with a rough leather and patchouli. Very earthy despite his literary aplomb and social status.

Welcome back, sir! I have to resample Twilly. Personally, if Hermes was targeting young women with Twilly, they shouldn't have made a solid black cap. Hermes has really become my favorite house. Even the women's line is starting to interest me.
@laniersmith17986 жыл бұрын
Oh I like the humor and quirky and funky fun of the black cap. Kris there are some very wonderful fragrances in Hermes and other houses that are marketed to women but in fact anyone can wear. Perfumes and colognes are made up of flower notes, spices and woody notes that are used in both men's and women's fragrances. So why label them as masculine and feminine. That was a marketing move in the early 20th century to bring the new emerging middle class into the market place and make the "modern" man more comfortable wearing scent. Like I always say ...wear what you love, not what they say you should like.
