The/ate great, Nicky Hopkins on Electric Piano gives "Revolution a big lift, boosting it from a good Beatles song to one of their all-time greatest! Hopkins was the most in-demand studio musician in England and in the USA for decades.. I love the part in the middle when Hopkins takes the lead on piano with Harrison and Lennon providing counterpoint with distorted guitars.

The original version of this song is on The White Album and is called Revolution 1. When they decided to release it as a single, John wanted to keep the slower, blusier version of the song, but Paul and George convinced John to record the song again with a faster tempo and more of a hard rock style. In the record released, which went number 1, you don't hear all the backing vocals you hear on the film, though. This was recorded in 1968! Still a great song fifty one years later. BTW, Ringo Starr just released a new album called What's My Name, so he and Paul are still making new music today.

Dude on the drums is Ringo, main singer of this song: John Lennon, 2 singers on the side: Paul McCartney and George Harrison. John Lennon was murdered in the year 1980 by a "fan". He actually got John to give him an autograph not even a couple of hours before he murdered John in an alley in New York outside of his apartment building. George Harrison passed away. Ringo is still making some music but you don't hear too much from him. Paul McCartney...... well everyone knows he's still got his magic and is still everywhere.

To give you an idea of how big this band is the singer John Lennon would have a net worth of $800 million if he were alive, his widow yoko ono has a net worth of $600 million and their son Sean Lennon has a net worth of $200 million, drummer Ringo Starr has a net worth of $350 million, George Harrison, wearing red and with the red guitar had a net worth of $400 million when he died, Paul McCartney who is the blue and gives the scream at the beginning has a net worth of $1,200 billion. Imagine how big your band would have to be where the poorest person is worth $350 million and the combined band net worth is $2,750 billion. I'm not sure but Paul could be the first or only billionaire rock musician if not musician period.

Nicky Hopkins on piano...Rare occasion a session musician was used on a Beatle track...Eric Clapton was used on the 'White Album' and Billy Preston on the 'Let it Be Album'...Altho a great track viewed today by younger folk will not sound as ground breaking as a lot of Beatle tracks sounded at the time...With no distortion pedals available back then the guitars of George and John were apparently put directly into the mixing console to achieve the 'overdrive' we see commonly on amps today as standard...In context they were doing stuff and using techniques common today but new at the time...and we tend to miss that when heard alongside todays music when most stuff has all been done before...And check for George telling Paul that 'John's mic is shite' at 1.01...

They are still the best and their music changed the world! Too bad you couldn't be there. They were always a world event when their new album came out! We had to "WAIT" until it came out. The do-wop version and the one where John sneaks in the word "in" right after singing count me out. I dont think they are going to stop listening to hip hop and go out and buy Beatles records but this particular song has enough rough edges to attract young black kids. I see alot of these types of videos on Utube and frankly with this one Im surprised The Beatles didnt take it down! Id now like to see white kids listening to Earth Wind and Fire or War or The Commodores and see their comments. Ive yet to see that!

Just a few facts about the Beatles. You mentioned the views it had. The 50th anniversary release of the Abbey Road album a couple of months ago hit number one on the charts AGAIN. They have sold somewhere over 1.5 billion records and counting. The next best does not even have half that. In April or May of 1964 they had the top 5 songs on the charts at the same time while also having the top 2 albums on the charts. Again ALL at the same time. No one has even come close to that kind of domination of music. That does not get into the influence they had on world culture during that time either. That is a subject that takes into account more than just music.

There are actually three versions of this song by the Beatles! You both should also react to the single version, which is slightly different from the video you watched, and to the laid back version from the White album called Revolution 1. Good reaction. Btw, don't react to Revolution 9! It is not a song and the other members tried desperately to keep it off of the White album but John Lennon insisted that it would be put on there! It drew great criticism from many of their fans.
