It's unfortunate that some kids today don't realize how great they have it when they grow up in a flying household. As private pilot myself I wish I had that growing up.

I flew with dad and his associates many times and loved every moment. Never took it for granted. Navion and 310d mostly. Miss those days and times.

I grew up with a totally different experience. My dad was a pilot with United for thirty-six years, and I grew up riding in airliners a lot, in the days when kids got to go and sit in the cockpit for awhile. He never owned a plane himself, and only once did he ever rent one. That was when my newly married uncle and aunt came to visit in 1962, and dad took us for a ride around Los Angeles in a rented Bonanza. I wanted to join the Air Force myself, but my eyes got progressively worse starting at age 10, my life took a completely different turn and I've never learned to fly.

Truly the Golden Age of General Aviation. When I was a young lad, my uncle got bit w/ the flying bug, set me dwn the road to getting my A&P. I went to work for a major helicopter manufacturer, been at it for 45 years. However I live in an expensive place, got married and divorced (maybe Aviation Induced Divorce Syndrome, [AIDS]) so I never was able to afford an airplane. These channels remind me of the days of reading Flying Magazine & hanging out at the airport. Great stuff.

Gonna be honest, not much in the cabin of the 340. Got an opportunity to fly co pilot for the school I go to and really there was just a couple seats on rails that you can change some of the configuration of and some foldable tables in the back.

I flew the CE-340 out of Silver City, NM for a couple of years, I loved those airplanes. Did a lot of air attack for the US Forest Service, the USFS staff loved riding in the 340 because it was air conditioned and pressurized, made spending eight hours a day flying over a fire much more comfortable.

I have always loved the 340. Ever since I worked at an FBO in the 80’s, while building time, I just really liked the look of this airplane. Such a perfect balance of size and power and pressurized. It’s a shame there aren’t more of these flying. Plenty of 310’s and 414’s, but not many 340’s. Thanks for highlighting two of these here on your channel ! Safe skies ! 🛫

Glad you are enjoy "my" airplane. I was an electrical crew chief for Cessna back in the seventies. May have set up the autopilot in-air on your plane. Back in those days the test pilots took a parachute on a bird's first flight and a sparky on the second flight to set up the autopilot. We were in effect flying the airplane with a screwdriver on the actuator feedback pots. Fun times!

I’m glad the owner went thru the cool down upon landing to save those engines. I have pulled plenty of those continental TSIO-520 for owners who just didn’t get it. Not to mention how to properly lean them. Avgas and oil are cheap compared to the price of an engine on the wing.

Nicely done video. For some reason, you don't see many 340's on the Tube. Mostly 310's which are nice but the 340 is the airplane you want to be in for flights of any duration. Nothing like the turbo performance and comfort provided in addition to being pressurized so you have tremendous flexibility as far as altitude selection.
