The Eternal wing is nice with the kydex scabbard it seems like it makes it a lot lighter weight package overall. I kind of like the leather handle as well. Nice review, I just had to come back and check it out again. Thanks

It is my ideal Khukuri. It’s not really for splitting, more of a dedicated cutter. I’ve just filmed some kitchen stuff with it

It’s my current favourite above all others. Nothing has come close but testing against hard woods will make or break it for me. The steel should hold up fine if it’s heat treated correctly. The edge is really thin though. I’ll admit I’m slightly nervous about using it against seasoned River gum and the like.

Sowilo failed initial testing with a rolled edge, that’s easily fixed. EternalWing passed with flying colours and is already sporting the beginnings of a nice natural patina 😊

Cool stuff. Would be interesting to compare EternalWing to something like the pensioner or ft williams mk1.

I absolutely agree. As the EternalWing is based on the interwar officers Khukuri (I sent an original and they used verniers based on my measurements, it’s that close) I’d say that the EternalWing will have a finer edge then both so will bite deeper but won’t chunk out wood like the MK1. EternalWing is most likely lighter then a lot of examples of either the MK1 or the Pensioner.

This was purchased through Kailash Blades and I supplied the steel to Andrew myself because he was going to Nepal at the time. As such, it’s currently one of a kind. They don’t have access to 80crv2 normally. I think one in 5160 would cost around 350usd but you would need to discuss it with Kailash Blades. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more use but if you’d like the specifications and design for a reproduction through another smith or company, I’d be happy to discuss it further 😊

Well you did say the Sowilo was more of a machete type knife. So that's kind of to be expected for the hard as rock wood you all have in Australia.

Absaloutely awesome looking! I especially like the Eternal Wing! If I can free up more funds I may have to hit up Kailash for one! I admit that my experience with them has not been 100% positive but they do have decent customer service, which can't be said of every khukuri house!

@@sundogforgebydml1050 If I ever end up travelling to Nepal I'll have to remember to put some 80cvr2 or Apex Ultra in the checked bag then ;) They haven't yet published data for the latter around the ~58 HRC range but maybe it could be interesting for khukuris... expensive stuff though!

I’ve not heard of the Apex Ultra but 80crv2 is an amazing steel and relatively cost effective for its performance. I swear by the stuff for heavy use blades!
