I have no recollection of ANY show that I have EVER watched, where every single episode has been such a mind-blowing, captivating television as this series of Twin Peaks The Return has been. Can anyone else say this about any other show? I've been trying but I sure can't think of one. Not even Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones has been this solid throughout. Only episode 6 of Twin Peaks was the weakest and it would still blow most other shows away. Also, a nice reunion of The Hateful 8 cast in this episode. Well, not quite but still I couldn't help but note that.

Idk man, I'm a huge fan of both Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. I started watching Twin Peaks The Return out of pure curiosity. I have no knowledge of anything from the first two seasons. I often find myself confused when I watch TP:TR but I think its because of the show's odd nature and not because i haven't watched season 1 and 2 and Fire Walk With Me. I will continue to watch TP:TR nontheless.

The "twin peaks" are symbols of the twin pillars in Freemasonry. One is blue, the other red, which is why these colours are frequently used by Lynch and also mentioned by Bowie in the same lyric line of that song. One pillar or "peak" is called Jakim, as in Jack. The One-Eyed part is obvious and being shown in marketing more explicitly these days. It's an occult elite system of symbolism.

Was that the same actor that played Johnny in the original series and if not was it just a simple gruesome way to write the character off and say "been there, done that" and move on? Like everyone wants to know what happened to this character, what happened to that character? So in the case of Johnny...he smashed his head into the wall and died. Can't imagine he'd have much to actually contribute to this storyline anyway? Apparently alot of staircases in the Horne household though.

Great recap & review. I like it better when these come first, as I refresh my screen every 10 minutes on Monday mornings waiting for it! Couple of comments: 1) Don't think you mentioned that Hutch and Chantal have the same last name. Married or siblings, ya think? They both seem sweet on the boss! 2) Evil Coop arrived at a farm...complete with farmers...but apparently this isn't THE farm. He and Ray both said they were heading to the farm, but Ray wasn't there to "finish him," so my guess is this was an interim farm. Either way, farms seem symbolically significant this season. 3) You mentioned being surprised at Ben's declination of the opportunity to kanoodle with Beverly. I wasn't surprised. Ben seems very different this season. In part 1, Jerry asked him if he'd hit on her yet, and Ben scoffed and said she was married. That was never an obstacle with the old Ben. He seems to have been through a transformation...or this is an alternate Twin Peaks. Keep up the great work!!!!

- Ben Horne's change of character could be related to what happened to Donna shortly after season 2 (disappearance? death?) - Johnny's death could be a good reason for Audrey to come back to Twin Peaks. - I could see Bobby going through the portal at Jack Rabbits Palace to reunite with his dad (see Briggs' vision of the future in season 2 episode 1). - random thought: I think kissing is going to play a big part soon.
@moneteee7 жыл бұрын
Ben Horne had already begun to change by the end of season 2, after recovering from his Civil War madness, if you think about it he wanted to tell the truth about Donna's fatherood in the first place because he wanted to do good and to clear his mistakes from the past. Also, if there's an event that might have made him even more willing to do good I think that would definitely be the explosion in the bank and the subsequent injury/coma Audrey suffered

I find it amusing that the troll-ism moments in each episode (the sweeping of the bar, the cigarette break) seem to be the moments many people cite as their favorite from their respective episode. I find them cute, but I wouldn't mind a tighter edit. I'm curious about Tammy's shifting and obvious discomfort in that scene. The piece of paper that says Cooper/Cooper actually has a 3rd Cooper and is the exact thing Briggs showed Coop when he got "the Owls Are Not What They Seem".
@mrgordo7 жыл бұрын
I think Tammy was just uncomfortable because Gordon Cole had given up smoking and she didn't like him sharing a smoke with Diane, probably because she was afraid he would fall back into bad habits. Someone said they thought it was because she was smoking a joint, but that didn't look like a joint to me!
@moneteee7 жыл бұрын
That's why it's relevant, Briggs cut it so that only two Coops were left
@tylerskiss7 жыл бұрын
I felt like Tammy was a tad more anxious than just concern for Cole's bad habit... I also thought Cole's lingering glance at Diane was something significant, but I guess he just wanted a smoke, so I guess I'm wrong. Oh well, not the first, won't be the last.
@mrgordo7 жыл бұрын
Who can say for sure in a show like this? As you pointed out, Lynch loves to troll viewers by dragging scenes out on purpose that might not mean anything but seem to hold a more weighted significance at the time BECAUSE they go on so long. It's only in retrospect that we know if there's a reason for it- i.e. the old man scene in the S2 premiere after Coop was shot later turns out to be filled with clues, not to mention that the old man is revealed to be the Giant's host later on; the scene in the bank on the S2 finale is meant to build tension because something bad actually IS about to happen and Lynch is lulling viewers into a false sense of security because they think it's just Lynch being Lynch. If you look at the sweeping scene, for instance, I don't think that it's what's important obviously, but the phone call after might be. I think that was setting up the fact that Jacques' relative- can't recall his name off the top of my head- is still involved in dirty business all these years later. It also might have been setting up two characters that might figure into things later- possibly the two girls we saw at the end of the most recent episode. (Yes, they don't look young enough to be jailbait types, but then, neither did any of the original cast look like teenagers, which I do think was intentional on Lynch's part, as a means of tweaking old Hollywood movies/shows where that was typically the case.) There's also whoever the "client" was that was complaining about the price for the "services rendered"- that could turn out to be someone we know or will later meet as well. Then again, it could just be Lynch trolling! You never know!

Great recap and review! Here's an idea for a video: "10 Things That Happen At The Same Time But In Different Episodes." For instance, in this episode, Shaggy (can't think of the character's name and he'll always be Shaggy to me) talks about seeing Major Brigg's head come off. That means he was in the Zone at the same time as Good Coop who saw Brigg's head float by. After talking to Preston in Ep. 7, the colonel makes a call. That call is likely to be the one to Lynch in this episode. The Mother is knocking on the door in Ep. 3 just moments before she enters in Ep. 1--I suspect she passed through the socket in the interim. Laura Palmer yells and floats upward at the same time as Daria is killed, showing all Bob's victims are connected. I think we're getting things out of chronological order, but if we could put together what's happening in one story at the same time as what's happening in another story, we'd have a clear picture. What day did Season 3 start? What day are we in now? What happened on each day? Will it end on 10/2? Maybe another video idea: "How Many Days and What Happens On Each Day."
@moneteee7 жыл бұрын
I was also thinking about this, but I realized I was a bit overthinking it all. Consider this: we know Coop had to leave the Lodge at the same time when Evil Coop should go back in. So all those scenes were taking place when the Doppelganger had the car accident and that was definitely after Hastings arrest (Coop wasn't driving anymore Hastings' wife's car after killing her). So unless the scene from the Lodge to the Mauve zone starts a lot earlier (but we saw Coop watching his doppelganger driving). That's not possible. I thought the same because during many of those scenes early in the season of Coop in other dimensions (the Lodge or the Zone, or the one where he talks with the Giant) he gets warned that there is someone else (or something, as the Giant says "It is in our house now") and also Hastings mentions that during his meeting with Briggs there were a lot of people, but again the timeline doesn't seem to match. I think it's still possible that the scene in which Coop is with the Giant still has to happen, but again it wouldn't match with Hastings experience which has already happened, unless there is some circular timeline stuff involved.

17:33 It's interesting that the "253" number comes in two different contexts: time and distance, which BTW means that the Lodges do not use the metric system :-) I suspect this is an oversight on Frost/Lynch's part (they were brought up in a non-metric country and simply didn't think about it) as the yards/metres distinction is purely man-made and should not have any inherent significance in any dimension.
@gummisnoodable7 жыл бұрын
On the metric issue (with some possible theory points added) - Major Briggs knew the time window of opportunity when the "portal" would be open and could have made it easier for Bobby to remember the time and place by making the distance the same as the time, in case the paper with the details were lost en route. We don't know if he foresaw this yet or was aware of possible changes to the what he foresaw brought on by others. This Jack Rabbit's Palace (JRP) may have been chosen by the Major due to it's proximity to the lodge portal for late night lodge visits or experiments while Bobby was sleeping as well as for the presence of a certain type of soil in the area of JRP perhaps. Bobby may just remember it as the place of his childhood camping memories/adventures. Although soil from the vicinity of JRP seems to be important too, the exact location where the soil is taken doesn't seem to be since the directions are not super specific on the soil : ""253 yards east of Jack Rabbit's Palace. Before leaving Jack Rabbit's Palace put some soil from that area into your pocket." It simply says "from that area." The soil could even be the same at JRP as the portal, but it may be important to have the soil in your pocket before approaching the portal, perhaps even to "ground" you to this dimension…haha: ground=soil, ground=electrical implications…hmm...

Could it be that in the scene where Gordon and Diane are smoking they're having a conversation in some kind of code with their eyes? I thought Gordon was blinking in a strange way. There's one thing that baffles me. Noticed how when sheriff Truman is talking about the dates given by Major Briggs, he's saying the 1.10. is ''two days from now'' while when Preston was interviewing Bill Hastings she asked him to circle the photo of the Major and write down the date it was 20.9.? That once again indicates that the story isn't following a coherent timeline. With that said I'm getting furthermore convinced that the very first scene of the season, when the Giant is talking with Cooper in (presumably) the White Lodge takes place later on the show, AFTER Cooper returns to the real world and AFTER the whole Dougie/Coop storyline. Perhaps when he disappears in that scene after the Giant says ''You are far away'' might be the moment when Cooper regains consciousness in the real world.

Not sure if mentioned but I just rewatched S3 Ep3 and noticed the time 2:53 when the woman looked at her digital watch (14:00 mark) and that was when real Cooper left the "white lodge" and replaced Dougie

So Frost and Lynch are using Dougie Cooper in season 3 to create that same kind of tension: What event is going to eliminate Mr. C and restore Dale's mind, body, and spirit?!?
@benjaminroberts91677 жыл бұрын
Johnny's accident, presumably, will be the catalyst for Audrey's return to Twin Peaks (for the funeral).
@MyChannel-h7y7 жыл бұрын
What if the "Double Header" means that Bob/Cooper and Dougie/Cooper will actually come face to face? Maybe Bob/Cooper wants to make sure Dougie is finished himself.

Anyone else notice when Cole said "this is the waiting room"? Kinda seems like dual meaning, like he has heard about the waiting room, or the red room.

Glad so many plot points from the season premiere were brought back to the forefront. Does "double header in Vegas" refer to Duncan Todd (for incompetence) and Dougie Dale?

Yup, it seems like the most obvious thing

I think someone else messaged Diane. Just because if she got it from Mr.C it would have all been in lower case. But Diane got it in all CAPS

One thing that I find a little confusing is why would Major Briggs give important information to two unknowns who basically stuck their nose where it doesn't belong. I wonder whether he just gave them some bogus coordinates knowing that Coop was after them. Also, Evil Coop is trying to get those coordinates from Ray, meaning he wasn't among the people who were present in that dimension during the meeting with Major Briggs, but Ray probably was (maybe he followed Hastings and Davenport).

worth noting the sheet found inside the major briggs cylinder contained the same symbol as the one that evil coop has shown to darya on the ace of spades

Any thought on who might be the JT mentioned by Ike the Spike? The part about Coop watching the electric outlet is very important to me because when he was watching the flag he kinda looked like when he saw the badge, the statue etc, like he was remembering something and then the electric outlet, which must be key since he came out of an electric outlet when he took Dougie's place

Maybe I read too much into this but the electrical outlet at 6:19 almost resembles two faces with the mouths hanging open. Two Coopers?

Coop fixates on red shoes. Diane is wearing red shoes. Symbol above mountain in Briggs note is same as Mr C's card shown to Dahria. Me C seems to have sent text to Diane (on a pink phone)
@marcuscross80517 жыл бұрын
The text message Diane received was uppercase with a comma in it. The text Evil Cooper sent was lowercase with no comma in it. Continuity error or an indication that the text was sent by someone else?

Could the two girls at the end of this episode be the ones that Jean-Michel Renault talked about over the phone?
@moneteee7 жыл бұрын
He talked about some 15 year olds. You can stretch it for the blonde girl portrayed by Sky Ferreira (who was 23-24 depending on when these scenes were shot), the brunette actress is born in 1981, for as much as teenagers in movies and tv shows are usually portrayed by actors in their early 20s you can't possibly get away with a woman in her mid 30s. Also, the girl Renault mentioned were supposed to at least have the look and behavior of straight A students, which doesn't seem the case with those two

Season2 Episode2. One of the two messages (alongside "The Owls are not what they seem") detected by Maj. Briggs the night Cooper was shot and visited by the Giant. Now it's clear that was referred to Cooper, the Doppelganger and Dougie Jones. But Briggs knew that would've remain only two Coops at this point.

I have been thinking about something - all of the doppelgangers have bright blue eyes in the lodge, right? So why doesn't evil coop/doppelcoop have those eyes anymore? We even saw them on the Leland doppelganger at the beginning of the season, right?
@fireflocs7 жыл бұрын
That paper doesn't have two Coopers on it. It says 'COOPER/COOPER/CO'. It has 2 1/3 Coopers on it. I would guess the 1/3 is Dougie, who apparently was never a complete being unto himself.

I found it very interesting that there are links to Tesla's stuff. I seem to remember you mentioned in one of your previous videos a theory from a redditor or someone else about the scene with the Eyeless Woman in part 3, where the lever pulled by the woman causes a switch from DC to AC (or viceversa, I don't remember). Could be confirming that theory. There are interesting things in the guestbook too. And the website was created in 1997 and we know that's also the year when mentions of Dougie Jones first appear.

I'm puzzled by Hastings reaction to Ruth's death in the Zone. He didn't seem to have any memory of that when the police first encounter him way back in the earlier episodes and he asks what is going on? and they mention Ruth and if he knew her and he of course acts like "no" he didn't know her and all to cover up that they'd been having an affair BUT he didn't act at all like he knew she'd been killed already in that other dimension so what's up with that? Had he been possessed by someone like BOB and then later they allowed his memories to return cause now he won't shut up about it.
