I love that it was Andy who got to meet the Fireman. He's just perfect. Also, we tend to assume characters know things that happened to them years ago. But know, they are human and can forget. Gordon Cole remembering what Jeffries said after having that dream is just perfect.

2 things are confirmed in episode 14: ==> 1.) The White Lodge portal. 2.) The REASON Sarah Palmer's voice changes at the end of Season 2, when she tells Major Briggs at the Double R, "I'm in the Black Lodge with Dale Cooper." Also, Sarah's constant smoking adds whole new meaning to "Gotta light?"
@recordtime91517 жыл бұрын
Looks like Billy is the drunk in the jail. Andy is also an artist and saw Bob because he sketched him per Sarah Palmer's description. Andy is also the one that reminded the other 3 men that they needed to put soil in their pockets. It was also beautiful the way Andy cared for the eyeless woman as well as Lucy. As strange as they are, they genuinely care about people and this is the element of love. Of course that is obvious, but I mean it more as love vs fear as to Lodge entrance and the overriding theme of the entire series and the upcoming climax.

Good eye spotting the stump shape! I didn't catch that myself. This was a great episode- Andy is now a player! Cole had me busting a gut when he called Lucy and then the window washer.While I did have the Bowie appearance spoiled, I am pleasantly surprised at the lack of spoilers made for this episode. All those people who saw 14 a week early sat on quite a few big secrets and I am very grateful. Apparently the German channel Sky had a mix up and they released Episode 14 instead of 13 and people watched it without realizing they'd skipped an episode (with this show I can see how they could make that mistake). It was quickly rectified and there didn't seem to be any leaks on torrent sites. I'm pretty sure that one of the German fans watched one of these weekly videos and realized the episode being discussed was completely different than the episode they watched- that's where I heard about it. I tried searching for the episode and that's how I stumbled upon the Bowie spoiler, but in an episode full of reveals, it was one of the least exciting things to have spoiled. www.digitalspy.com/tv/twin-peaks/news/a835080/twin-peaks-part-14-spoilers/

A few things i noticed: 1: Sarah pulls of her face exactly like Laura does in the first episode however light is revealed when Laura removes her face unlike Sarah who reveals darkness. 2: when Andy is with the fireman smoke appears and goes up onto ceiling where he sees the vision or "movie" where everything that has gone on is revealed to Andy, then a weird object appears in andys hand which then sucks the smoke in, after the smoke is in, it appeared to me that the object went in or became part of Andy as it looked like andys belly jiggled and got a bit bigger as it disappeared. *MY THEORY FOR THIS PART* the smoke is the knowledge of everything that has been going on, and now it is apart of Andy meaning he might know of and about everything. I think this is possible because after the object goes in Andy and he returns to his dimension he seems to know exactly what to do. 3: Andy sees the electricity poles from fire walk with me that have the number 6 on it exactly 3 times, meaning "666". He seems frightened or disturbed by this as it as the devils number. I think this may refer to who mike calls "the devilish one" in the original series. 4: when Andy returns to his dimension there is a short scene where you can see multiple transparent versions of Hawk, Truman, and Bobby, I thought this looked like when we saw the mass amount of transparent woodsman at the beginning of episode 8 after bad coop is shot. 5: inside Sarah when she takes her face off you can see smoke and a left hand that is open faced, however the *ring finger* is flipped around so it is the backside also it is black and bigger than the other fingers, also she attacks and kills the man swiftly like how the mother of evil kills the couple in the experiment room in the first episode. 6: the sound the woodsmen make when they walk is the same as the sound of the electricity lines.

My notes: Eyeless woman = Judy? Sara Palmer- child of the frog-bug that crawled in the woman's mouth? Ronette Polaski = ?? Billy= guy in the cell? Sarah Palmer = host of "mother?" Due to her intuition and the trauma make her susceptible? Edit: "We live inside a dream" - Laura's dream? I'm theorizing this because she's so wrapped up in every single aspect of the story.. Also: Are we sure the eyeless woman is good? Mike says "you were tricked!" And "now one of you has to die" OF COURSE we'd think it was badcoop. My theory is what if he was talking about the eyeless woman? "People want her dead" Or maybe it was intended for more ways than one..

Here's another one for you. What's the significance of 'the Uncle'? There must be some, with the lady in the booth recalling what happened with Billy, yet couldn't remember if her 'Uncle' was present, and how this ties with the delirious woman in the car with the sick girl who was ranting about the young girl's 'Uncle' coming for dinner.

I'm also very intrigued by who Billy is and what his significance might be to the story. Is it possible he's the bloodied up character we saw parroting everything he heard in the prison cell? The two ladies at the Roadhouse mentioned that Billy showed up out of nowhere, was bleeding profusely, and got blood everywhere around the house after having some sort of fit... The character in the prison cell seems to match that general description based on his strange behavior and horrifying outward appearance. The possibilities for Billy's role in the story were already interesting considering (1) Audrey's character arc (for whom, to the chagrin of hardcore fans of the original run, has been noticeably absent in The Return) has revolved around this unknown character Billy and his whereabouts; and now (2) if that person in the prison cell is Billy, he's occupying a cell near the blind woman who helped get Good Coop back to the real world. These factors lead me to wonder if Billy might be of some endgame significance... If that character in the prison cell is Billy, it's worth mentioning that his tendency to parrot everything he hears is very similar to that of our man Dougie Coop. Is Billy, like the woman described by Albert as well as agent cooper, a victim of the Black Lodge -- whose influence led to the production of doppelgangers with dual and conflicting intentions? Will the blind woman help Billy regain normalcy? Will this foreshadow the blind woman's role in helping Good Coop regain his senses and return to his former self? * Takes off tinfoil hat * Lots of intriguing possibilities, but suffice it to say, I'm also very interested in who Billy is and what his role to the story might be in the remaining episodes. Also, I cracked up at the, "James is really cool. He goes by Jimmy now" bit. James' character truly is the protagonist we didn't want, but the meme we all deserve, lol. Great vid as always -- look forward to your Recap & Review's every week!
@lowlize7 жыл бұрын
Really interesting, in particular the observation that the eyeless woman appearing in the "real world" might lead to Cooper returning to his former self, and this might be her important role and the reason why someone (Bad Coop) wants her dead, like Andy said.

I guess Billy most certainly is a central figure in the series' denouement, and I reckon it will be via Billy that the timelines which look somewhat off at the moment will be untangled. Sort of. Could be one of the timelines will turn out to be a possibility/alternate reality tainted by Bob/a dream rather than "reality". Then again, I would assume that the reality we'll finally end up in will only be possible because of that alternate reality/dream. Billy is key, he's the Waldo of Twin Peaks :) Always hiding somewhere, nobody knows exactly where. The drunk guy might not necessarily be Billy, but he's a strong possibility. And when we think of him as Billy we are reminded of several key moments that are unexplained so far, like: the bleeding from the mouth (also happened in the car after the shooting scene with Bobby), the strange rashes some people seem to be suffering from (looks like the drunk got a hell of a rash there on his cheek), the dream-/coma-like Audrey scene of course mentioning Billy as extramarital lover, the "Where's Billy?" scene in the Double-R with mysteriously changing guests etc. The jail scene with the drunk is even a reminder of the jail scene with the Woodsman' "spirit". Based on all that I would assume that Billy is some sort of bad presence, which has to be exorcised. Maybe he represents the deterioriation of Twin Peaks, and in the denouement it will be undone.

I agree with most people here: this was the best episode of this seasons so far. I was worried during the meeting of Andy with the Giant/Fireman. Glove Boy was a very interesting character and his story got me intrigued. Seeing the flashback with Bowie gave me a somewhat warm feeling. And, of al the moments of this season, despite atomic bombs, atomic hobos, giants, prime evil and all supernatural things, the thing that got me like "What ??" was that FBI agent suddenly screaming to his subordinate.

Here's a thought, and it may be a stretch. But there seems to be an apocalyptic theme going on here. The pale horse, etc. In Andy's "vision" he sees the telephone pole with the 6 on it. The scene seems to pulse three times as if to convey 6,6,6. Also, the numbers above the 6 are 324810, which if you add the digits equal 18 which equal 6+6+6. Again, might be a stretch, but I think there is a possible apocalyptic theme at work here and the 6's thing would fit in with that.
@charliebook33437 жыл бұрын
Ok: When I was a kid I got into numerology from a book I got. The number 18 is interesting here on its own. I'm not a big fan of the numerology, but I guess I like the mythology and excitement of it. Would not raise my eyebrows if both Lynch and Frost had had some encounters with this (just think about the discussion of the spiritual finger.) The meaning is very complicated but I guess it could hold the essence of the whole greater picture and complex battle between good and evil in the whole Twin Peaks saga. This is a text from a book by Linda Goodman that I've borrowed from my sister: "The Number 18Spiritual-Material ConflictOf all Compound numbers, 18 has the most difficult symbolism to translate. The ancients describe the Compound number 18 with the following image: "A rayed moon, from which drops of blood are falling. A wolf and a hungry dog are seen below, catching the falling drops of blood in their open mouths, while still lower, a crab is seen hastening to join them." 18 symbolises materialism striving to destroy the spiritual side of the nature. It often associates the person or entity represented by it with bitter quarrels within the family circle - with wars, social upheaval, and revolution. In some cases it indicates making money or achieving position through divisive tactics, through war or other conflict. It warns of treachery and deception from both "friends" and enemies; also danger from the elements, such as fire, flood, earthquakes, tempests and explosions, electrical shock or lightning. If the Compound number of the name is an 18, the vibration should be negated immediately be changing the spelling of the name to equal a more fortunate Compound number. If the birth number is an 18, extreme caution and care must be taken to meet the challenges and dangers of this Compound number. The only way to dilute or diminish its effect on the life is by spiritual means, by unfailingly and repeatedly meeting deception and hatred from others with generosity, love, and forgiveness, "by turning the other cheek", and returning good for evil, kindness for cruelty, honesty for dishonesty, honour for dishonour. In this way, the 18 may be used for great success in illumination and enlightenment. Those born on the 18th day of any month have chosen themselves (on the level of the Higher Self), between incarnations, this channel of birth as the greatest of all testings of the soul for worthiness. Another way to dilute the negative aspect of the 18 is to change the number of the name (whatever number it may be) to any favourable Compound number which adds or reduces to the single 6, by changing the spelling of the name. In addition to the attitude just counselled, this will also help turn the tragedy of the 18 into triumph." Note: Jesus, Jesus of Nazareth and Jesus Christ all equal 18 (He chose the path of "turning the other cheek") - a bit like Andy who is chosen by the giant.
@charliebook33437 жыл бұрын
---> Fire, electrical shock, lightning. "materialism striving to destroy the spiritual side of the nature" - I'm thinking of the scene with Norma and the franchiser guy, she's baking her pies with love but starts to consider using cheaper ingredients to get more profit. Also all the dirty business affairs we saw between Horne, Martell, Packard etc would also fit into this. Dr Jacoby's "Dr Amp" rants fits into the themes as well I guess.
@mikespersonalstuff7 жыл бұрын
Alice Book Yes, I thought the very same thing about Norma and the pie. Norma's pies represent a kind of pure goodness (and cherry pie more generally - recall the scene with Dougie and the Mitchims). So now this business guy, motivated by greed, is trying to get Norma to sell out. There is a kind of dark evil infecting Twin Peaks that is manifesting itself in many ways. This new drug, girls puking in cars, stray bullets flying about, Chad, Richard Horne, Red, etc. But this thing with Norma's pies may (in the mythology) be the worst. In Lynch's world, that could trigger the apocalypse. Anyway, I've just one thing to say - NORMA, DON'T DO IT!!!

if it was anyone's dream I think it would be the giants also known as the fireman. The giant is the only one who knows what when and where things are going to happen and has predicted the future many times. For example he knew that bob was going to kill again and warned cooper before it happened. Also in episode 8 of season 3 when he is featured there is a scene with him and a woman in which he floats up in the air and starts projecting glowing gold light from his mind as if he is "dreaming", he then creates Laura palmer in his gold projection and sends her into his dream world. It also makes sense because he lives in a higher dimension than his projections.

If she is the girl from episode 8, where that creature crawled into her mouth, does this mean that what ever is inside her was kept in check because Leland was drugging her? Maybe it regained control over her after his death or something happened to her afterwards. It was also interesting that the eyeless woman was found at the opening of the vortex by Andy, Hawk, Truman and Bobby, after she fell into space earlier this season. I wonder if Cooper could have ended up near Twin Peaks too instead of Vegas. So, both the entrances to the White and Black Lodges have small circular pools but the vortex where Hastings and Cole were did not. At least I didn't see one. I noticed that when Cole tried to enter the Vortex, he shook violently but that didn't happen to Andy. His entrance was smooth just like Cooper entering the Black Lodge. I wonder if this has some importance.

Interesting observations. Good stuff.

Regarding the violent shaking when Cole is on the precipice of entering the vortex, vs Andy (and a few others) entering in a smoother manner... I think it has to do with the fact that Cole was NOT invited or wanted by the Lodge entities... he was merely being sucked in as a result of being in close enough proximity to the entrance... Whereas Andy, Coop, Windom Earle, and even Bob WERE essentially invited in and wanted by the Lodge entities... so the transition was smoother. Just my two cents.

When Sarah Palmer takes off her face a hand appears and the ring finger is black indicating she might be spiritually possessed.

That's not the ring finger though, it's the middle finger of a right hand where the thumb is not visible (like to indicate the number 4)

I've seen some guesses that maybe Bob's down in the basement, but what if the noise in the Great Northern means that Laura (and not BOB, as in the European pilot) is behind that door in the basement? How powerful would it be for James to find her there in his next scene? The noise seems to match the brilliance of the light we see behind her face before she goes flying up and disappears, and on that note, who else went flying into a void that episode? Naido, who just turned up in Twin Peaks. Laura was sent up from the sinister red room (underworld) while Naido fell down from the heavens: in both cases, they'd be heading towards earth, and I expect Laura will make her way to Twin Peaks very soon.

Just a thought... but perhaps in FWWM during the Phillip Jeffries scene, all that static and fuzz during his rant and periodic visions of the lodge meeting, that could have been from GORDON'S POV? He was getting Lodge interference since he was wearing a hearing aid and they travel through electricity. Also I believe he has been touched before. Perhaps he was there as a kid. I believe that once your touched it retroactively inhabits you.

Definitely an insane episode, thanks for the review! Its a ritual by now to check out your take one the episodes. You should however save the word "powerhouse" , it loses its meaning when you use the exact same word on episode 13 ( and others that dont deserve it ) while episodes like THIS one and episode 8 truly deserve that description. Anyway, awsome work, i had to subscribe. No idea how you edited and uploaded it THAT fast lol.

Great episode lots of laughs, tension, spookyness and intrigue - hey Cole and co watch the news on TV, Dougie coop was in the headlines in episode 10 ! I think what you call the mother of all evils is called 'the experiment' (evil unleashed in 1945). Sounds like you trust Tammy now ? I thought Diane might have been listening outside the door to Cole ! Did you notice the actress in the booth with the checked shirt in the last scene was also in Inland Empire ? In fact Diane's character reminds me of the damaged housewife personality in Inland Empire. Yes green - sinster - the rings and as it was in the days of Frank Booth. Thanks for your fun and interesting uploads -may you never tire of making your clips and voiceovers - though some new phrases may be needed !

..and so the importance of Phillip Jeffries grows yet again. I still think Jeffries somehow received supernatural powers from the Lodge. We have seen him time travel, teleport, and now use precognition ("who do you think that is, there?"). This Jeffries stuff is fascinating...what could his agenda be? Also...remember when people were skeptical Season 3 would be any good? All that seems so long ago - and so silly - now!

Great video. I just wanted to add that Jeffries was from the future when he appeared in Fire Walk With Me. I mean, he was from the past, but had traveled to the future before appearing to Cole. That is why he points at Cooper and asks, "who do you think this is?" He has already seen Cooper as the Doppelganger, even though it had not happened yet.

Assuming of course that Dale Cooper: My Life My Tapes isn't really canon (where it's clear Dale has some dealings with some lodge entities) I think the reason Philip says that line is because he's been jerked out of time. He is referring to the future where there is a DoppelCoop. Phlip has been to the lodge where time is a lot more fluid. It's a reference to Episode 29.

About the Jeffries and Cooper scene in FWWM, I think the reason why jeffries says "who do you think that is over there" is because he has seen coop in the lodge. But not because Cooper has visitied the lodge pre laura palmers murder. Cooper enters the lodge at the end of season 2. Then he gets stuck and his dobbleganger gets out. Now we now that there is not such thing as time as we know it in the Lodges and one can witness things from the future, present or past (is it future or is it past). I believe Jeffries and met the future version of coop that got stuck in the Black Lodge and knows his dobbleganger got out. Now here is where it gets really interesting. When Jeffries briefly returns from the black lodge he is confused and doesn't know in what time periode he is. When he fiends out the date on which he returned is in february 1989 we see he's clearly in shock. Now we (at least I did) always assumed that he was shocked because so much time had passed since his dissapearance and he feels like he's in the future.... but what if Jeffries went back to our world to Gordon to warn him, but he actually wanted to come to our present time (2016-2017) to warn Cole about the 2 Coopers and he is now in shock as he realises something went wrong and he is in the wrong periode of time in history, realising his mission is going to fail...

Now that episode 14 has dropped you should do all the research on what happened with Germany. What Lynch has said/thought about it and Showtime's response if you can find it. I know that's a lot to ask especially since you focus on the show and not so much the news surrounding the show, but I would really enjoy getting to the bottom of that through you rather than my own research. That sounds selfish on my part, but I really want to suggest that anyway.

I wonder if when things happen out of order in one place, if they can interface with places where things are not happening out of order? Sherriff Truman's call to Gordon Cole might have been made before Ben Horne gave him the key to Cooper's old room that came in the mail, so a couple of weeks ago, but Cole gets the call and has the conversation in the present day? I can't think of another reason that Truman would not have mentioned the key otherwise.

And another thing: we see clearly where Andy went, but it looks like the other three were also taken somewhere, because we see them gradually rematerialising in the forest. The scene is reminiscent of that woodsmen convenience store scene in episode 8. However, they seem normal and aren't traumatised or terrified so, not sure if they were taken anyware unpleasant? Alternatively, we could only be seeing them like that because Andy is returning and this is all from his perspective? If so, however, why would they say they couldn't remember anything that just happened?

A shame we won't see more of the character of Philip Jeffrey. Not just because it's David Bowie but because I'm really intrigued by Philip and what his role would have been if Bowie hadn't died before his cameo could have been filmed.

excellent video. I absolutely love that you, wow lynch wow, use video clips from the show. very few peaks reaction vids do. I assume its tricky. anyway, I didnt think that naidos (sp?) noises were "animal" noises. to be fair, the combo of zombie jail guy and her together were very animalistic, recalling mike and bobby barking at james(or jimmy)in the pilot. to me, naidos sounds are more like clipping/distorted/muffled electrical sounding.

I had the idea for a long time that the monkey in FWWM represents Jeffreys as a spectator of the meeting in the Convenience Store [as he himself says that has been on one of their meetings and we do see that meeting when he is addressing Gordon. The fact that he is wearing a mask can also mean that he was undercover or that he is holding a secret]. The Monkey/Jeffreys also whispers "Judy" on FWWM meeting scene. Now the eyeless woman making the monkey sounds seems to me an indication that she is somehow connected to Jeffreys [and I'm guessing she is Judy] or she is Jeffreys herself.

I have to post another comment because after watching 14 again I think Diane might be lying. I wouldn't be surprised if Janey-E has no idea who she is.

On second viewing I realized that the squeaky noises made by the window cleaner are very similar indeed to the weird monkey-like noises made by the eyeless girl and the zombie-like weirdo (Billy?!) in the jail cell. This can NOT be a coincidence! It´s like a second premonition vision (after the one with Laura) that Gordon gets and reminds me of the noises played by the giant (The Fireman) to Cooper in episode 1 scene 1 that we then realized were the electrical (radiation) sounds of the woodsmen. It´s like animal noises vs. man made electricity radiation noises kind of a thing going on... Watchallthink?

To all those who complained recently... How the hell could you complain about this? Safe to say things are back on track. I think Sarah Palmer very likely swallowed the bug, but I'm not 100%. The order we saw in episode 8 was ; birth of Bob, creation of Laura, The Woodsmen do radio.. So, what if that was the counter to Laura?
@ollieclixby31997 жыл бұрын
Gordon dreamt a vision of the Woodsmen all standing on the stairs in the Palmer household, plus it's been spoken of how the ceiling fan is some kind of portal. The amount you see Sarah smoke, plus the bar/throat scene in this episode, leads me to ponder whether she has become possessed by the Woodsman; who have already displayed a carnivorous appetite in previous eps. Is it the Fireman's (Giant) mission to extinguish the fires of the Woodsmen? Good is soon to be fighting evil head on it seems
