Alright, I've got an odd theory: Twin Skeleton's is about a murder, particularly a murder inside of a relationship gone sour. First off, there's a shit ton of deathly iconography in this song: jet black crows, skeletons, and two outright mentions of death: "Just die laughing on your spiral of shame" and "a birth and a death on the same day." That sets the foundation that something really rather horrific is going on in this song. We can extrapolate that that something isn't entirely love- the lyrics aren't written like "Fourth of July" or "Favorite Record," which both instantly reek of love with lines talking of confession, beauty, and romantic regret. No; something worse is happening here, and I think it's a murder. Let's look at a few lines: "There's a room in a hotel in NYC/That shares our fate and deserves our pity." Buildings that play host to murder are often condemned (catch the pun?) to be terrifying places, the kind you'd see in a Ray Bradbury short. Dwellings where murders have taken place have their lives, if you will, cut short. They share the fate, in a way, of those who die there. "I don't want to remember at all/The promises I made if you just hold on." The promises in mention could very well be the promises of the honeymoon period of an abusive relationship- it will never happen again, I didn't mean it, it's all going to be okay. The murder at the heart of the song is, I believe, the culmination of one too many of these broken promises. "Till we're saints just swimming in our sins again." Murderers often believe they are saints. They aggrandize their self image into almost godlike proportions. More over, they often believe themselves- if you get into the especially sinister murderers- to be on missions from God or that they are messiahs, which this verse could be referencing. "And there's a jet black crow droning on and on and on." Any good history buff knows that crows are more often than not seen as harbingers of death, as ominous omens that something bad- I mean really fucking bad- is about to happen. See Julius Caesar by Shakespeare for evidence. "A birth and a death on the same day." While the person dies, a reputation- that of a violent, fanatical murderer- is born. There is a birth of newfound fame, of newfound recognition; perhaps, this is what our murderer sought all along. There you have it, folks. Thoughts from my head at 1:30 AM.

This song is so sad. As someone who suffers from depression I can understand some of what Pete was going through at the time they broke up. This song is so powerful. So I saw a comment down here that's no longer here, but it was an interesting theory on what the song was about. Now I don't mean to come under fire from this but I liked the idea. The lyrics "and I just did enough of you to dull the pain. Just enough to get me through the night 'til we're twins again. 'Til we're stripped down to our skeletons again. 'Til we're saints just swimming in our sins again" could be something about who the band is in front of the media/press vs. who they are when they get back home or are in the hotel room. Meaning "ok we need to be these people out in front of everyone" vs. "ok, we're back in the hotel, let's screw around and be ourselves." Just a thought. Like I said this idea isn't mine and I think the comment has been deleted since I saw it but it was a good idea and I liked it. You don't have to agree with it but please don't attack me for it.

GUYS This connects to GINASFS "I was born under a bad sign / But you saved my life / That night on the roof of your hotel" ~ GINASFS "There's a room in a hotel in New York City/ That shares our fate and deserves our pity / I don't want to remember the promises I made if you'll just hold on" It's about Pete's suicide attempt Holy shit
@ems42748 жыл бұрын
this song could be about petes suicide attempt yeah but i think it deals with the hiatus: pete wrote this to pre-hiatus patrick. *"a birth and death on the same day"* is referring to the death of fob and birth of soul punk. patrick was the one who offered that the band go on hiatus and pete opposed it at first. *"i dont want to remember it all the promises i made if you just hold on"* pete was trying to convince patrick to not go on hiatus. im pretty sure the last show they played before the hiatus was in nyc too (but idk for sure) *"i need a new partner in crime"* and *"till we're twins again"* show how close patrick and pete were and still are. for the latter, pete even said on twitter that he and patrick have a bad case of cryptophasia (the language shared by twins) *"keep making trouble till you find what you love"* but in the end pete just wanted patrick to be happy and if going on hiatus and doing soul punk is "what patrick loved" pete wouldnt stop him

knowing pete wrote it to pre-hiatus patrick makes me love it so much more
@ems42748 жыл бұрын
here are some connections that help my point: patrick confirmed *"a birth and death on the same day"* is referring to the death of fob and birth of soul punk. patrick was the one who offered that the band go on hiatus and pete opposed it at first.

Its not about the twin towers.
@lexibrianna58409 жыл бұрын
Ms. Penguin Actually, the fans do not get to decide what the sing is really about. The writers of the song, who understand the lyrics fully, decide what the song is about. And it is not about the twin towers. They have said that.
@pxracy74489 жыл бұрын
Alex Motzko re-read my comment. The fans can decide what it means TO THEM. If they think it's about the twin towers then let them.

Guys, the game in general isn't cancer. The game is very heartwarming and hilarious. It's the fucking fandom that makes the game tainted. SO please, just shut up with all of these Undertale comments and just enjoy the music. I am fine with all of the comments that say, "Who else thought of Undertale?" Okay, those are fine because, let's be honest, we all thought of it. But all of those comments that are like, "OMG UNDERTALE!!!! SANS AND PAPYRUs M8888" Like holy crap we get it.
@marl0n8 жыл бұрын
KellyT The Shadow Queen i agree, and i'd like to add, the lyrics that one would associate with sans and papyrus don't even appear throughout the entire thing. It's like, yes, those couple lines remind you of sans and papyrus, but what about the rest of the song and the meaning it's trying to convey? it takes all the enjoyment out of that.
@kellytshadow12168 жыл бұрын
I know! There's more meaning to the song than just those couple lines!

Here's my two-cents on the meaning of the song: It's about two taken/married people having an affair and one left the other. "I don't want to remember it all the promises I made if you just hold on" - There's a promise he doesn't want to remember everytime they're together and he doesn't want her to leave because he's fallen for her. "There's a room in a hotel in new york city that shares our fate and deserves our pity" - A room that doesn't get occupied has no meaning for existence(pitiful). Sharing their fate with an unoccupied room would mean they feel there is no purpose to their existence if they're not together. "And I just need enough of you to dull the pain" - He got addicted to her(He fell for her). If that ain't a perfect description of an addiction then I don't know what is. "Just to get me through the night till we're twins again" - Again addiction right here but the 'till we're twins again' part makes it sound like one party doesn't think like the other anymore. "Till we're stripped down to our skeletons again, till we're saints just swimming in our sins again" - First part is about their lust for each other that it's how they feel about each other. Second part describes that this might be adultery and that they look like a saint at first glance. "And there's a jet black crow droning on and on and on" - Jet Black Crow(Death) of a marriage hanging above their heads. "Keep making trouble till you find what you love" - She got bored of him and left to find another lover. "I need a new partner in crime and you shrug" - describes how he searched for another lover and went back to the old one but got rejected. "A birth and a death on the same day" - The birth of an affair, The death of a marriage. A new lover. "And honey I only appeared so I can fade away" - He doesn't want to get attached to her and get hurt like the last time. "I wanna throw my hands in the air and scream and I could just die laughing on your spiral of shame" - Walk of shame? "Hit it never quit it I have been through the wreck, but I can string enough to show my face in the light again" - He's suggesting that they keep their affair going and he's a better liar if they're ever found out. After this stanza it goes back to the first part which hints that he's fallen for her like his other lover who left him and he doesn't want her to leave him. Repeat.

+Sketch girl I believe everyone interprets lyrics differently. Music is an art, so the message is subjective. What the artist felt when creating the piece isn't necessarily what fans will take away with the song, and that is fine. It's how it should be...but......WHO THE FUCK IS SAYING THIS IS ABOUT THE TWIN TOWERS??? O.o

@nataliaramo42629 жыл бұрын
Good theory, but the titanic ship wasn't made the same day it sank if that's what you meant, I could be wrong😜
@ilyadimov76089 жыл бұрын
A birth and a death refers to the dying of their fake outer personality and the birth of their genuine inner personality. This happens out of public view, and they put on their fakeness before going back. They hold on until the next time they can be alone together. No towers, no tragedies. It's all depression and identity confusion.
