If I may make one suggestion buy wooden dowels and place them into the block to prevent the lifters from ever falling ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/1852455-changing-camshaft-link-bar-lifters.html

Yeah I've done that before, but I've never had problems with doing it this way ;)
