TBH none, (SPOILERS FOR PART 2) It was setup very early that they really just lost thier bodies so you could progress forward. And yes, if you failed, they would fade and die, but no way you would lose :) I think some people actually got pissy about this at launch, saying how much of bad story telling it was to kill off everyone and then bring them back. but one thing i noticed in common on those that said stuff like that, was they didnt really get it. they used their soul as a dynamis "buff" on the planet to open the path way and trusted you would find a way to win and bring them back ONLY if you won or it wouldnt hinder However, if i had to choose, id go with the theory that at the end, the teleporter was sent to you via "our good friends" last wish. which despite not liking him , was a grand gesture that gave me a bit of a pause.

Right before the G'raha scene my wife heard me sobbing and she was like "Are you OK?" And I replied, sobbing, "No!" Then she asked "How many quests left?" And I said "Hopefully one! I hope it's not three!" Later after she got to the same spot in the story I told her "this is when you asked me if I was OK" and she was sobbing and said "Oh, I get it now".

after estinien disappeared, i had to take a break from msq for a week. i could see the trend of scions disappearing and needed some time to prepare before seeing the rest of them disappear. i cried for basically al of them, but i think the twins got me the most. they've been there since that very first carriage ride and have grown so much alongside us. they're basically my children, i literally said "i'll adopt you" wen Fourchenolt disowned them.
@kittycatzuka Жыл бұрын
G'raha's part absolutely broke me when I first got to it. He means so much to me. I literally would not have continued playing this game if not for him. See, I started playing XIV when Stormblood launched, and back then, the Crystal Tower raids were _optional._ At the time, I was barely at the patch quests for ARR when I realized I wasn't enjoying the game as much as I thought I would. I thought about quitting for good, but then one day, I log on and decide to do the CT raids on a whim. I got attached to Raha immediately and cried when he eventually sealed himself away. However, it did help me find the resolve I needed to keep going through MSQ and everything, because I thought we might get a mention of him later on. Sure enough, Shadowbringers happens two years later, and my prediction comes true in the best way possible. I'm glad I was able to continue playing. I can say with complete confidence that I fully enjoy XIV now, and I owe it all to him.

1:02:05 "We rise, fall, and rise again!" Me: Just like the PHOENIX! Your grandfather, kids... you made him proud this day! Absolutely the best track to use for the twins, adding that tiny extra layer of callback. They really did follow in their grandfather's footsteps!

I have to admit, even though you are aware that with each civilization, the Scions would have to sacrifice themselves to move forward, hearing the _Shadowbringers_ theme with G'raha almost broke me. 48:56 - "We want to see Brit ugly cry." That, I will not deny.

A variant of Answers for the twins is nice, bit of a Coils of Bahamut throwback. A shame Y'shtola and Urianger only got Thunderer, a glorified boss fight theme.

Actually, hugging animations are a LOT more difficult to animate than most people realize, so if they want them to be frequent, then they need to make EVERYONE the same size, both height- and girth-wise. So, look at a miqote, then look at a male roegadyn.

Yeah that first "whispers" when when alisae gets mad at raha is....yeah. that hurts every time. This game makes you care so. Damn. Much. About characters. It's why the game is so good. It's so easy to empathize with characters. Absolutely love this game and can't praise it enough, probably the best ff game ever. That's including games I'm looking at with nostalgia glasses. Not to mention the message of this story is perfect. I just..... UGH. SO GOOD. I'm glad I found your channel and got to re-experience the story with you.

The most quieting part of this section to me is the twins. It's playing the triumphant music from Louisoix's triumph over Bahamut in the Flames of Truth trailer. That connection is emotional enough, but the way it just goes absolutely silent in the middle of the victorious theme as they disappear really drives home the absolute solitude that the WoL is now experiencing. It wasn't just grief, it was chills to the soul of being utterly alone in the face of cosmic despair, with the fleeting hopes of the shattered shards of remaining life - and the souls of all your friends who just paved the way for you - resting all on your shoulders. It wasn't a power fantasy - it was sheer weight and dread.

This game, like many Final Fantasy games, taught me how to stand, to fight, and how to move forward. To fight your suffering, your sorrow. To understand that in these things, there is life and that strengthens you.

@KaedysKor Жыл бұрын
@azenafelicia6618 that's exactly how I took it as well. The messaging isn't really to _fight_ those negative emotions, it's to understand and embrace them. Notice that the end of EW is us _redeeming_ the personification of despair, "teaching her a brighter future", not simply destroying her. She gathered the despair of a thousand thousand worlds, and we showed her that hope even from a single world is enough to balance that out. Not to _hide_ from despair, as Zodiark was embodying, but to accept and embrace both the good and the bad and realize they make us who we are.

I really loved the voices they used for the Ea and the Omicrons. I feel like EW is the first expansion where they really nailed the perfect vibe of "alien-ness" and/or "AI". I mean it was always fine before, but when I heard the Ea speak I was just smitten.

The way I explain the Scion's actions and attitude in the face of their friends sacrificing themselves is that if they let themselves break down now, the world and the universe would end before they could become functional again. So basically, really deeply repressing it (which they then take out on the WoL... later...). They simply cannot be distraught, too many people on Etheris are counting on them to finish this. If they had finished it and not gotten everyone back, they would have been devastated. Anyway, that's my take on it.

Thancreds inexplicable miracle charge at Meteion saved the universe, its never fully explained how he was able to do it, as what was happening to everyone wasn't a matter of holding your breath, as Meteion had deleted ALL the oxygen in the room, including in everyone's lungs.
@ninjafoxgamesgeekery Жыл бұрын
I kind of like to think it's from Y'shtola's use of "Flow" back in Realm Reborn distorting his aether since aether and dynamis are like opposite & equal opposing forces in a sense. It would also be somewhat poetic that her casting "Flow" altered the current of events that lead to saving the universe, considering the final song shares the name with the spell and the two connect A Realm Reborn to Endwalker. This final expansion brings so much full circle while adding layers to everything before.

For future reference, if you ever accidentally skip a quest cutscene like that, you can immediately abandon the quest and pick it back up. I think it's actually more emotional watching than when I was playing because I hate fake deaths and it was obvious they weren't going to kill them all off like that, even before Y'stola basically confirmed it. That being said, one of my reasons for thinking so was wrong, I thought they were going to make another Trusts trial so I was expected them all to come back for the final showdown.
