FINALLY!! A video that shows twining while pulling towards yourself! This is the same way I do it. I have seen so many videos that show twining by pushing up! I have done a bit of twining myself, mainly with recycled t-shirts. I just discovered your videos today… I will certainly be watching more of them. Thank you!

Thank you for the videos and informative lessons on twining a rag rug. Watched all 3 videos. Hubby making loom & I am tearing sheets. Your video lessons have so many important tricks and hints I am ready to give it a whirl.

I am loving watching your videos Caroline - I just built my loom and have warped it up, ready to get weaving! I am a little worried that maybe I have tautened my warps too much - is this such a thing or is it less slack the better? You are a true inspiration, thank you for offering your skills so generously!

I've never seen a warp too tight. Better too tight than too loose. Thanks for your kind words. Happy weaving!

this is such a neat idea! Could you use a jelly roll for the strips? Thanks! :-)

Sure thing. Whatever works for you! That’s the thing I like about twining-so many ways to do it and get great results.

Caroline, I just love how you talk and teach regarding different aspects of weaving as you are working. Such a treat. I have seen some instructions that recommend 1/2 space between the pegs rather than 1 inch. I see that you use the 1 inch space. Do you have any thoughts on that aspect of making the loom? Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I have seen smaller spacing, usually on smaller looms like place mat size. That's fine if you want to cut your rags into 1/2" strips. For larger looms, tho', I prefer 1" spacing as I don't like to spend forever making a rug. The older I get the less time I want to spend on a project! Kind of like kids - can I finish this today?!!!

how do you prepare your strips are they ripped on the straight grain or the bias??
@carolinespurgeon60163 жыл бұрын
You can't rip on the bias so the correct answer is on the straight grain. If you're using sheets try to rip them lengthwise. Longer strips!

Could you weave two (or more) smaller rugs together to make one big rug?
@carolinespurgeon60164 жыл бұрын
You can't weave them together but you could sew them together. If you are talking about twined rag rugs you could sew them together with a strip of fabric or sheet. Haven't tried it but it should work.

Hi Caroline, I wonder if you can help me with a suggestion. I’ve made an error and have woven quite a long way from both ends but going over two and under two between the warps. So it should still hold together but it’s not going to meet properly in the middle. I am considering switching to over one under one. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

In twining there are no mistakes, only design elements! You can do anything you want. You can even alternate the over two with the over one. If there is room put in a few rows of under one. Then you can switch to under two again.
