Found this page through Instagram reels when you first pulled this out of its resting place. I'm not a Vauxhall/Opel fan in any way but I absolutely love seeing the engineering and fabrication work going into this project. A proper car build and absolutely the definition of built not bought!

Thank you for watching and the kind words. You don’t have to love vauxhalls, true petrolheads appreciate every build. An we do definitely build them rather an buy them 🤣

Your a clever man, ill tell you that!! Fair play, cant wait to see the progress on this one

I've built custom cars and bikes over 45 years, hats of brother this is proper old skool car building, work with what you have and your skill strengths. Who ever says cut and shut shows they are utterly clueless as to what they are or were... All cars can be considered as cut an shut as they are multiple pieces of metal welded or stuck together... It's all about the strength and you have over engineered your floor pan brother. There will be no issues at all with it. I'm happy I retired from building thankfully.
@TwinEngineCorsaАй бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. I love the old skool way of building, learning old techniques etc behind the press is an English wheel, that’s next. Thank you again for taking the time to reply means alot from a fellow builder who knows 🙏

I know first hand the difficulties involved in such builds... especially with people of limited skill or knowledge saying you cant do this or that... or put a guard on your grinder.... Im glad i retired to be honest bud, these younger kids know little but tell you how todo it all... Within seconds i could tell you know what your at and have great skill an experience in your trade. You build them as it should be done. Id have hired you in a second and put you own the major high paying work i did. I gave my top guys a huge cut of total payment for jobs and made them semi self employed so the faster and better they did the work the more they earned. Id twoguys earning over 100k a year and worked 4 days a week. I alwyas let they guys use the workshop for their own cars and projects aslong as my jobs got completed on time. And i painted them for free for them, just material costs. I look forward to the rest of build buddy. Regards Paul @TwinEngineCorsa

Man, I WISH I had your incredible engineering/car modifying/tuning/design/ideas and skills! I LOVE the fact that no car maker builds the cars you desire, so instead you literally just build them! You are awesome and so motivating, watching your ideas come to life and seeing how bloody quick these cars you create are is SO inspirational that you could well restart the days of the crazy Max Power builds!

The I6 was cracking had a 3000 24v GSI Digital dashboard an Lotus Carlton never had the digital but had dashboard but it had all the good bits reinforced pistons an this rest. 3000 24v GSI I had a soft spot for in Sliver..

Coming along nicely I was making a RWD Calibra V6 and a 2.6 omega supplied it’s transmission tunnel, engine, and loom for it, the boot lid was chopped, because I strengthened the chassis to turn it into a convertible BMW e36 boot lid hinges were used so it would have a boot lid, so I know the amount of work that you are putting into that

We also used to put the 2.0 4 cylinder flywheels onto the v6. When using if memory serves me right f16 gearbox. HELL did the v6 rev response improve. It rev so quick almost like it didn't have a flywheel

The flat redtop flywheel is the one to use 👍🏻
@nialbarnsley4108Ай бұрын
@chrismirams9272 probably, we did a swap on a mk1 open kaddet 1.8 with 5 speed box, put a 2.5 v6 and used the 1.8 flywheel & box, was great , especially clutch changes, it had the plate on the bell housing, which you could remove and do clutch without taking gearbox out, 😁those were the days

@evelghostriderАй бұрын
I've done it past 45 years and made a successful business from it. But I'm happy I've retired from it lol I could not take the amount of donuts who talk utter keek about build quality or parts or how you did stuff. People used to ask me why I told customers to f&£k off.... its cause they came to me for my craftsmanship they seen else where and I build how I see, not what they see... today's younger generation of car people live a virtual world as seen by videos. They lack real world experience. I used to have customers tell me how they wanted me to paint their vehicles. I'd just wheel it outside and say finish it yourself now...
@nialbarnsley4108Ай бұрын
@evelghostrider that's funny. I the same . Motortrade straight from school. Own business from 23 , retired at 44. Dealing with all the idiots is a nightmare. And that's not just the customers but the suppliers are as bad. Never mind it was good enough £££ to retire. But he'll I nearly killed myself at points

The pressed part will pie dish i.e wrinkle around the edge because it is a compression flange meaning that the flat material is longer than the formed part. You would need to have a ‘draw ring’ i.e clamp a ring around the outer edge of the blank and the tension will cause the material to stretch and lose its memory of being flat. Look at draw form press tools, they can be simple spring loaded tools. It’s like how binky did the vents behind the bonnet. You got the result and that’s great but oems would draw form it.
@phillharding595Ай бұрын
I would like to see some more of your fab work in detail. Great work so far it makes me want to crack out the welder and start my e46
@petervarrechia4459Ай бұрын
whit all that work you could make longer videos surely, I for one would definitely watch longer videos of you making this kind of stuff, I do like the way it's edited tells you what needs doing next thing it's done, keep up the good work can't wait to see it finished
@vwnayАй бұрын
I do press forming daily at work and the method you ideally need to clamp/torque the outer of the material of the ring die and allow slippage for when it’s pressed and stretching the material with the inner form to allow a smooth transition forming the correct radius and side profile then trimming excess material for final part 👍

Found you after you went to see my friends dad's friend Kym with the Twin engine VW Scirocco. A round the corner from me, thought you'd be possibly interested in my project car. 1983 Rover SD1 3500 Auto, which is what it was. Saved from the crusher after being used as a engine donor, my plan is to fit the engine out of my sadly written off Volvo 850 T5 estate. The 850 T5 had 350 Bhp before it was smacked from behind by a HGV. SD1 enthusiasts hate what I'm doing, but better resto modded than crushed. If interested I can email you details on the project.
