This is the most comprehensive tutorial I could find, so thank you. My 2008 Softail decided to no longer recognize the fobs. Using this video I replaced and remarried the TSSM and now I am fob free and back on the road.

Thanks for the video, I’ve asked about this to everyone and no one would say anything like it’s top secret, my buddy owns a custom HD shop and wouldn’t tell me either, but I bought a dyna that has no key fob and everyone tells me it can’t be done I even checked the bike over thinking maybe the previous owner mounted the key fob on the bike somewhere, so now we know thanks brother

Great channel. You are doing great work getting those Harleys back on the road. The bars on the front are typically called "highway bars" or "engine guards". I believe the reason they are no longer referred to as "crash bars" is that it give the impression that they will provide some sort of protection in the event of a crash. They're okay for low speed crashes, but at higher speeds they really do not provide any sort of protection.

Thanks a million, with your video I was able to start my bike, the Harley instructions doesn’t tell you the complete steps. On the last step you did after the 3rd 10 minute the instructions said to turn it off for 15 seconds then attempt to start well what you did is turned off and on again and then off and waited 15 seconds is what started the bike. I’m sure glad I watched your video, awesome work brother. I appreciate you 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

On most HD touring bikes, I think you can just clip the pos charger cable to the pos starter terminal, and the neg cable to any bolt on the frame. Works on my Ultra, anyway. Saves you from taking the seat off.

I did the opposite on my 02 FLHT. I went from TSM to TSSM. Bikes get stolen here in Albuquerque. I wanted a little extra security. I also bought two fobs. All off eBay. It was a simple swap out with a similar marry routine, but I did have the dealership reprogram the security code on the TSSM and sync the fobs. They charged $50. Well worth it.

That is gonna be a nice bike... do a custom paint job on it! It will look so much better than just black. I love the front wheel and want one for my 2012 and some adjustable 12" or 14" bars... maybe you can find me some cheap ones

I just did mine for the exact same reason. The TSSM was a Harley part. I doubt there is an aftermarket replacement.

Look around for joe private citizen that thought he was going to get a cheap harley off copart..😂😂😂 they buy and bid them way too high and a year later have buyers remorse. Copart bikes are ridiculously expensive for the chance you take....one cracked case your out of luck. This was a good looking one....👍👍

I'm one of those strange people that added the security system on my Dyna Cuz Albuquerque lol As long as you follow instructions to the letter it's easy ... And you actually can add a fob as long as the security code is set to factory settings ... I added one to mine as well as the addition of a pager ...

Security keeps the injectors and starter from working, I did the tssm thing on mine, took 40 minutes total, I hate that damned security system. Gonna remove mine one day.

My Harley dealer replaced the key fob for my Streetglide. Just need the title to verify ownership. Had to use the pass-code until I got the new fob.

Could you post the link to the forum where you found how to do this? I will probably need to do the same. I bought a engine to swap with my street glide and it came with a Power Commander V and ECM. When I fire it up with the new ECM it dies right away. I think this process may fix it.

Why not add another fob? I'm almost sure that would have been a choice. I will research that option Worked on my 2003 softail and a 2004 sportster when adding a fob.

Security Key? I got regular key with the plastic cap on it. That must have an option cause my 2009 Ultra doesn’t have the security system. It’s good to know that it can be reprogramed. Never know, might run into someone in town that could appreciate hearing that it can be reprogramed. Wonder if that’s covered in the owners manual? Seems like pertinent information to me. Guess I’ll have to read the manual to find out.

There's a video here on KZbin on using a code to turn it on with out hey fobs. The code he used on the video was suppose to be different for each HD store but I've use that same one to start all my buddies harley's. Everyone is supposed to set it to what they want to but people forget to do it.

Hey guys! This video gave me hope. My bike does the same thing when I turn ignition “on” (flash blinkers alternately, no chirp, no ignition). I have the FOB’s, I’m thinking this process should work to rematch my existing TSSM, with out needing to buy a new TSM(without security module). If anyone can help, much appreciated! They do sell a quick disconnect kit that you can install and let's you pop on and off the tour pack just in case you take a long trip with the wife and or girlfriend....

Without the fob you won’t get ignition or starter no mater what unless you have the pin or you buy a new TSSM

Just call the dealer they will give you the code to bypass the key the generic code for most bikes are the same you have the option to change it

Google the bypass. Mine has a way to enter a code. And all come with the same code unless the owner has changed it.

sorry, how ever told you that you can't assign a new FOB to your TSSM is wrong, actually you can also cancel the security so you don't need a FOB; with out changing to a TSM.

Freaked me out too. Rather just roll them up & zip tie them. There's plenty space under the seat. Got exact same bike ( minus the sexy wheels ) & put a quick detach on the Tour pak with a Street Glide seat.
