A first demo of our decorated Christmas tree with Twinkly Lights installed.
- Two 175 strings and two 225 strings.

Twinkly can display static and animated light scenes. You can settler own color combination for every setting and safe it. When unplugged, the string will remember its setting without the app.
Colors: bright white, warm white and all RGB colors.

Good video thanks. I have bought 2 sets of 225 led and I am going to put them on the tree this week. My plan is to group the 2 sets together. My question is: do I need to start from the bottom of the tree with both sets of lights or do I start from the bottom with one set and carry on with the second set from where to first finish? Thank you in advance for your help.

There’s one setting called “snake” where you can see the difference when you don’t start from the bottom and work to the top. So for that scene, it’s better to work your way up, string by string. Continue where the last one ended.

Great vid, it’s much appreciated being able to view the lights ‘live’. Before you take your tree down, could you do a walk round video to show what happens around the back of the tree and not just the front face. Perhaps have the setting on a diagonal swipe? The situation I want to use them for next year is where the tree is in the centre of the room. Reading another question, that’s 800 lights on a 8’ tree? Thank you for your time.

Great job on your tree & video; beautiful! I am curious whether both the rear and front lights can be mapped since my tree would be in front of a large window. If only one side, then what happens on the reverse side? Hopefully you know; thanks!

How big is your tree and how did you know how much strings you needed?

Its like eight feet tall and we calculated the lights based on the strings we had before: 4 x 200. The lights go all the way to the center of the tree for a better overal look.

For a 6 or 7 foot tree how many lights would you say are needed for an adequate display? The tree in your video is larger and it looks like you’ve got 700 to 800 lights on it which would be about $500 based on Amazon pricing. Really don’t want to buy more lights than I need for a smaller tree. thanks

I swiped trough the scenes while playing the music. The system does have music response but it’s not demonstrated in this video.

ok what you have to do is down load the APP to your phone ( twinkly.com) then you can control all 30 fish programs, and how you want the lights to work ie colour, patterns, brightness etc, the music section is something that I have not worked out yet, I suspect it picks up the music Via your phone and then your phone app controls the light, you can down load the app at any time and you can see what preset patterns are available

AFAIK you can only set the effects manually and there's currently no way to program them to change. I'm hoping they add much better functionality for customization in the future, but right now it's pretty limited. The good news is the hardware should be pretty much future proof.

So I was wrong, sort of. You can use the "effects carousel" to cycle up to 5 effects. However, this does not work on groups, only on single strings of lights, which makes it useless for me (and probably most people).

Thanks for posting this. I've been looking for a vid (not directly from Twinkly themselves) showing more than one strand on a tree! One question, did you wrap the lights right around the tree or snake them back and forth in the front? I would assume given the room and stuff in behind this is right around the tree. Also I see no way of stringing multiple strands together with one controller, so I assume they all need to be plugged in to the wall seperately and then the app configuration does some synchronization magic.

UnlimitedVertical We started from the bottom and worked our way to the top. It’s like zig zagging branch by branch, all around. The four strings, each have their own plug and the app has the possibility to combine multiple strings into one by grouping them. After that, the mapping process treats all strings as one.

@@dmr140 Thanks. We set ours up last night. Overall a pretty cool product and the lights look great. I think they have some work to do on their network stability and maybe some enhancements to the app but they do look fantastic on the tree :-) We wrapped ours right around the tree in a spiral from bottom to top.

There are sites that sell the new 250 strands for like 120 a piece if you buy two and they have coupon codes. I got 500 lights for 210 dollars. Still expensive, but they're so cool.
