Here I’m gonna try to list all the references in this MV in order. ARMY can fill me in if i miss anything. 0:14 The first scene, their old practice room. Go back and rewatch their old dance practice (BOY IN LUV, DANGER, etc.). Here RM wearing BOY WITH LOVE outfit (the present him) is visiting the old place and looking at his old self (NO MORE DREAM outfit) in the mirror. Now we start reminiscing our journey from the very beginning chronologically :)) 0:24 NO MORE DREAM is their debut song (the bus, the whole setting). That’s 15-year-old Jungkook. 0:36 WE ARE BULLETPROOF PT.2 - V with blond hair and glasses. Btw, he throwing those glasses was what he did in NO MORE DREAM. 0:51 N.O - Jhope raps “Don’t wanna die.” 0:59 BOY IN LUV - Jin 1:10 DANGER - Jimin 1:21 Someone has to help me explain the scary black thing behind Jin. I wasn’t ARMY there so I don’t know what happened to them. It can be shadows or darkness that swallow them. 1:23 Shattered mirror might represents hardships, dangers, and unfortunate things that happened. RM has been always associated with cracked mirror, even in his song REFLECTION. 1:26 Suga (outfit from I NEED YOU) with injured left shoulder/arm. When he was a trainee, he used to work part-time as a deliverer because he was poor and his parents didn’t support him as he pursued music career. 1:28 V is running, the ground collapsing. Not sure if it refers to any specific event. Let’s just call it hardship. 1:30 Jungkook is chased by the black ocean. You guys can look it up on google “BTS Black Ocean” to understand more. It’s basically fans from different fandoms together planned to turn off their light sticks during BTS performance at MMA and GDA 2016 to show dissatisfaction. To me it’s such a ridiculous thing to do🤷🏻‍♀️it’s also too cruel for the artists on stage. 😞 1:33 Not so sure what that red painting represents, but I would say it’s about the the dead threads that they received. Jhope previously raps “Don’t wanna die.” He runs and gets trapped in the box, struggling to get out of it. The box can be certain images or conceptions that people try to impose on them, take away their freedom, and make it hard for them to freely express their true selves. 1:44 RM falls into the ocean along with broken pieces of glass. Following is Suga standing up after falling. He keeps walking ahead. The glasses keep coming at him and he falls again. There’s “bulletproof” written on it, this may represent them starting to doubt whether they are actually bulletproof. You know how we sometimes doubted ourselves when we encountered hardships. 2:04 Purple lights (ARMY) help RM rise up from the deep sea. ARMY give him the courage to get back up to the surface again, not drowning anymore. As soon as the lyrics “Did the long winter really give way to spring?” hits in, RM goes up to the surface. Then we see “Bulletproof” written in complete without being broken. Now RM is back ~~~Next up is Suga. And finally darkness disappears. The whole scene is full of purple with flower pedals. If you pay closer attention, you will notice that the first half of the MV, all BTS members were alone by themselves. “We were only seven, but we have you all now” transitions to YOUNG FOREVER where the members come together for the rest of the MV. How sweet is that! 🥺 2:21 YOUNG FOREVER - RM with the rest of BTS. “Holding each other’s hands.” ~~~ 2:33 I NEED YOU 2:37 RUN 2:43 BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS 2:49 NOT TODAY 2:56 SPRING DAY but remember it’s still winter. 3:04 We saw BTS sitting around the bonfire 🔥 very frequently in music videos and bon voyage series. 3:08 RM with cute hat 3:09 V leans on Jimin’s shoulder 3:11 Our favorite duo SOPE (Suga-blond hair, JHope-red hair) 3:12 Jin and Jungkook 3:15 Kookie touches the purple light (ARMY). I practically had a hard time to control my emotion here. 🥺 From one single ARMY to many many ARMYs. 3:19 The whale holds so much meaning with BTS. Kore is RM’s favorite animal. Listen to their song WHALIEN 52. It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. The title is a combination of “whale” and “alien”. The whale is alien because it’s an individual of unidentified species which calls at the very unusual frequency of 52 hertz. This pitch is a much higher frequency than that of the other whale species. It can’t be heard by other whales. Therefore, it’s the loneliest whale in the world. But the whale kept on calling until it was heard. BTS came from a small company. Despite all the hardships, they kept singing and calling through their music until they were heard by millions of fans. Or you know although they’re famous, they still feel like no one really understand how they feel or what difficulties they’ve been through, like no other whales can hear or know the Whalien’s crying. 3:35 BTS rise up on a bigger stage, surrounded by million ARMYs. It’s also a reference from WINGS TOUR THE FINAL when the boys performed Born Singer. They’re wearing the exact same outfits. (God, I loveee that performance, never get over it > BTS 4:11 BOY WITH LOVE 💗 Finally the spring that they’ve been waiting for came. 😭They ended here and didn’t include “map of the soul 7” probably because you know, they couldn’t go on tour and spend time with ARMY really. So it wasn’t as meaningful. The whole journey in this MV is basically the time when we’re actually together. If things didn’t go wrong, I bet this MV would turn out differently and wound include MOTS7. 😭 The part that hit me the hardest was the black wave. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that. The black wave (black ocean) refers to when they were new and the other fandoms got together and when BTS performed, everyone in the audience turned out their light sticks, no one cheered, it was quiet. What a heartbreaking insult. It affected them deeply and made them doubt themselves until Army showed up and ever since have out cheered everyone and turned every performance they've done, no matter where, into a BTS love fest with army bombs and cheering and fanchants creating a purple wave to carry them to the top. The boys love it. They've come so far. And Army makes sure to always cheer on every other group because it makes BTS happy to see their fans be respectful of others efforts. The black ocean, Yoongi's arm/shoulder, going through different eras (No More Dream, NO, Danger, BST, Young Forever, Not Today, Spring Day etc.) the Army logo turning into the BTS logo, the lonely whale, the stage, ugh it's a freakin' whirlwind of emotions!! These men went through so much. The fact that they ended with Boy With Luv hits so deep! They could've added 'ON' and Black Swan, but they didn't get to physically experience this era with us, no concerts, fan meetings or anything like that, so even though those songs are amazing and meaningful maybe it wasn't as special because it wasn't with us! They love us so much! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜😭 anyways , thanks for reacting to this....this is the definiition of true love...I hope you see this comment and understand he points >...BTS Forever

This was them going through each of their music videos since debut, starting with RM in their old studio looking at his reflection of how he looked when they debuted, then Jungkook walking through the No More Dream video, their debut song, then V in We are Bulletproof, when they knock his glasses off that’s from the dance in No More Dream, then JHope in N.O., Jin in the Boy in Love video, Jimin in the Danger video, then it shows some of their stuggles, the black wave that engulfed Jungkook is what they called the black wave because everyone turned off their light sticks as a slight to them early in their career when they went through so much negativity, you also see Suga getting glass flying all around him and he is holding his shoulder, he actually hurt his shoulder and performed anyway and hid it so he wouldn’t affect his group mates, then RM sinks in water, and it’s because he was going though depression and pressure from all the haters, but then u see the purple glow show up, and then more and more and it lifts him from the water, those represent us, Army and the light of the Army bombs, the whale that lifts them up is from their song Whalien 52, that’s about the loneliest Whale because he can only sing at a frequency so high no one can hear him, they also run through more of their music videos, they run through the I Need You video, then Run, Young Forever, Blood Sweat and Tears, then Not Today, then they end on Spring Day which u noticed 💜 Good eye 👍🏼 Then towards the end where the army bombs come together and make that shape, that’s the Wembly Stadium concert, they also show them crying toward the end and holding an award, and that was when they cried at the MAMA 2018 awards during their speech, then they show the ARMY logo and it opens like a door and turns into the BTS logo, and it ends in the Boy With Love video which is present day. It’s a beautiful video of their journey before, and then with us and it’s really a love letter to ARMY, if u have been a fan a long time and understood all the references, it was very emotional and just beautifully done, I hope u watch it again after seeing all the videos and hearing the Whalien 52 song so u can really get the emotion behind the video and song.....I probably missed a few references, I tried to include what I could but this is already too long, so please, anyone who took the time to read this, feel free to add anything I missed 💜

I am a 55 year old fan of The Beatles. I have listened to them my WHOLE life. There has NEVER been another musical group that was comparable (to me) UNTIL I discovered BTS in November of 2017. BTS is definitely the “next” Beatles. They are constantly changing up their sound and trying new things. I never get bored or tired of their music. I have listened to them EVERY SINGLE DAY for the last 3 years and each time I hear their songs, it’s like I’m hearing it for the first time. The influence of BTS and their music will be felt for generations to come. 💜

Myself, even as a boomer, I was 3 and remember watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, and my older cousins losing their Sh*t watching them on a black and white tv. My primary memory was of everyone screaming in my aunts living room, I also remember looking at where they were screaming and watching 4 guys on the television singing. Since then I've grown up listening to the Beatles and love them deeply. Realize that we are today witnessing the same, and hopefully when your my age you can tell this story.

yes!! That was Suga sing/rapping lol you know your voices!! And so glad you guys caught the Spring Day reference, in fact, each of the scenes in this illustrated mv referenced a music video. The first scene where jungkook was walking past a bus was actually their debut song that you’re going to watch - No More Dream! If you want the other music videos referenced and where, just ask the ARMY. Even the whale they flew into the sky is a reference to their song Whalien 52 (which is about the 52 hertz whale who can only communicate on that wavelength, but no other whale uses that wavelength, so that whale was called the Loneliest whale on earth.)

I love how this shows their journey as artists and as a group and how they have persevered and grew against all the hate, judgement, and bullying. They're still standing strong and united. Wise words guys. I absolutely love this song, it's their whole story. They take us through their music videos from the very beginning in their tiny practice studio all the way to Boy with Luv. There are so many Easter eggs in this video like Suga's shoulder, the "Black Ocean" during one of their performances, the loneliest whale, the purple hearts turning into a sea of ARMY bombs during their concerts, Hobi holding the Artist of the Year award and them crying. They made this song just for ARMY and it shows that BTS and ARMY truly are a family. The fact that they made it as a cartoon makes it even better because they can truly express how they feel. Great reaction guys, although I have to confess, I was hoping that you would have gotten to some of the earlier videos before this so you would get all of the references, but still a totally awesome reaction. Good thing you noticed Spring Day scene. Actually, the whole animation video comprises of scenes from their previous music videos since their debut . It’s an emotional video to ARMY. I remember what Suga once said “instead of pushing us to the top of the mountain, take our hands and we’ll climb together”. The way they always flex ARMY in all that they do. I think y’all are getting Jimin and Jungkook’s voices mixed up. Maybe listen to some of Jungkook’s english covers. You’ll be able to distinguish it soon. Jungkook is main vocal other than Lauv on the song Who, honestly. “Feeling hypnotized by the words that you said” is where JK’s part is. Then Jimin sings “when the morning comes you’re still in my bed but it’s so so cold.” Then JK sings the rest “who are you cuz you’re not the girl I fell in love with.” Jimin’s vocals are used for a bit of harmonization and background vocals on the rest of the song but there’s more JK adlibs through the end of the song!
